  • Saddest song ever.

  • I don't understand why seems that The cure was more interested in make alternative and artistic stuff 30 years ago than today...

  • @scanner1978 Because they don't have to anymore. They have a huge fan base who will gobble up whatever boring new albums they release. You can't really blame them though. Faith and Pornography were huge achievements that hardly any band ever reaches.

  • Wow! Fuckin amazing footage!

  • amazing video with a great perfomance to an unbelievable song.

  • they seem to dance with more vigor after the elder woman leaves

  • this is bit silly... lol... the guy who had this idea dosent understand the concept of goth

  • ke putas con los bailarines???

  • ke putas???

  • laughing into the fire, is it always like this ? i miss u..... :(

  • It almost surprises me that Robert agreed to this... hmm.

  • Great perfomance to an awesome song! The Cure forever!!!!

  • I have loved cure for 20 years now

  • @mxfredda me too...

  • Brilliant video.

  • @rubinhofan I am very much in agreement with your sentiment.

The 'pornography' album was one of their pinnacle periods.

  • this is one of the best classic Cure albums!! i played it till the vinyl broke

  • Dorothy Williams was the real star of all this.

  • this song makes me cry and happy and sad and mad and just everyhting in the emotion feelings and thots BUT THE BALLET DANCEING IS AMAZEING

  • this is very easy listening to. It's that awful pop drivel they did after 1984 that I can't listen to.Listen to my channel .Ferneyhough,Finnissy and Boulez you wanna test your ears. Even Punk is pretty easy listening too. Early banshees was amazing. Can & P.I.L. would stretch your imaginations!

  • Every single word of this song hits you like a sledgehammer. So heavy, so powerful! A masterpiece.

  • I wonder what that girl, the presenter, is doing now.

  • extraordinario!!!

  • La plus belle chanson de désamour existante... quand l'amour est un tel supplice peut-être est-il bon de continuer le combat... Une des plus belles chansons des Cure, saisissante... J'apprécie le concept du Ballet Royal...

  • As a ballet dancer and a huge fan of The Cure, I'm blown away by the dancing and The Cure's performance. I would kill to have an opportunity for a collaboration like this one!

  • I have this on video myself and I always throught it was funny how they spell Steven Severin's name "Stephen"????

  • @rubinhofan strange cuz this was the period where he had a fight with their legendary bassist Simon Gallup & they got stuck in a period where they were forced to come together again & make music, something way poppier & 'better' in a holy way than their blackest album Pornography. This was a side project with some Susy & the banshees members since robert toured with them throughout this year

  • love the way the girls sings along with the 'sing out loud we all die' phrase

& .. last effort was the top?

i dont know, but i personally loved the head on the door with the new boris. just like the great disintegration indeed. Idd everyone loved it, & you'd say it's a bit overrated , but it's not it's really a fantastic album each song. & i wouldn't call wish a bad album either just like kiss me. But people forget Faith which is for me one of their most highly under-rated albums so far

  • Choć mam już 38 lat to Cure na zawsze pozostanie w moim sercu a płyta "Pornografia" ich najlepszym albumem....

  • Let's no forget that Head on The Door and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me were all good too.

  • How was The Top their last good effort? dud you forget about Disintegration?

  • fail at 4:35 lol but great song =)

  • what mean an old granny who sits in the chair?

  • The cure could have gone out with taste. The top was last good effort .The jazz was wonderful the cartoon they became was a disservice to Rock.Pop became dull too.But Fiath,17 seconds ,Pornogr and Teh top some of their finest moments.GodI love them and da Banshees.I hope they are rich now. They made us all so ....

  • great performance by two great dancers inspired by this great great song!!!!

    500000000000 stars!!!

  • Great song

  • Du grand de l'énorme du vrai l'esprit humain

  • This song make me cry, is the crying for the memory when i was a seventeen boy years old, and i lived with bread and the cure.

  • for those who know,

it's not easy, listening to this song

  • its brilliant but its not the same without simon on bass

  • i love JOY DIVISION AND BAUHAUS So much But i like The Cure More than Joy Division

  • no one cares faggot

  • faggot well dumbass u care cause u cared enough to waste your time typeing me a message lol blow me dipshit faggot on that cause i dont care knobbslobber

  • I love me some knobslobbing.

  • have the balls to call names to my face wimp your over the net dont make me slap u dumbass go back and jamm to your powerpop or falloutboy

  • you wouldn't do shit you little faggot bitch, hahah you might as well be a woman, look at your page! Just your mother with her fatass titties

  • the cure is good, but joy division are the best

  • The cure best ever... ok joy dıısıon nıce band to ..but the cure best ever

wish ı was living london at the 80's ..maybe i can see them :)and lıstenıng

  • I cannot explain it but it is unbelievable and amazing how for me The Cure's songs (sad or funny) give me always the energy to face the bad days or when I feel down. Magnificent!

    Thank you sharing this video.

  • I feel the same listening Joy Division :)

  • thanks for sharing this awesome video i love it¡¡

  • I always come back to this one.

  • Both things are my pasion, the dance only dance¡¡¡ and the cure, the perfect cure¡¡¡¡ thanks for this video, makes me very happy. magnificent

  • Muy buena ...gracias

  • I absolutely love this top to bottom. The music is so bleak, so Robert. The dancing is perfect. I love how these Siamese twins are different genders. Obviously, true Siamese twins are identical and not fraternal. But it works! That's the art of it. I think the movement goes very well with the music. Also, for the Royal Ballet to do a project like this with a band like the Cure in 1983?! Amazing! Remember, the Cure weren't that famous at this point. Very progressive of them!

  • such beautiful..

  • Punk rock attempt of Wagner's Total Art. P.S. This song is haunting.

  • Siouxsie was with him during this song!

    Simply magnificent!!

i want to see THE CURE soooo bad!!!

    Come to Arizona!!!

  • she is bute.

  • I find if I feel angry about anything this song always calms me down - the cure are magnificent

  • nothing much to say except lyrics are beautiful and you should been a fan at the time Never heard or seen anything like this since then

  • It makes me depressed... Word "beautiful" is too little to describe this song

  • you're absolutely right.

I know this song from +-1985

and it always spooked me out.

    too brilliant for words..

  • that girl at 0:2 is hot

  • I don't think he was very happy with life at this point lol.. I love the music!

  • grandi...unici.. grazie...

  • a strange period for the Cure... my absolute favorite period..

  • At first I did not read your comment right...I will also add yes..I love this period, I can not see the cure without this period (if that make sense)

  • Love this videoclip

  • love her hair, great video. rare find, thanks for posting. Someone kept a video in the vcr and recorded their favorite shows!!!!!

  • wow! i never knew about this - definitely one of my favourite cure songs!

  • I like this version better than the one on the cd. More depth and emotion. This song is sooo beautiful.

  • I agree.

  • Strange because Japanese Whispers and the Glove's Blue Sunshine make up this 'strange' missing piece period of a somewhat 2 piece Cure, Lol & Robert, with characters coming and going.

  • Great song, great dance from a great band!

  • Remember The Fall doing something similiar with ballet dancers prancing around with their arse cheeks hanging out? Hilarious.

  • roberts guitar sounds mint on this

  • sheer brilliance!

  • I like it better in black and white

  • Me too :P It somehow fits better...

  • This is cool seeing this in color!

  • so real. It happens like this, every time we try to love someone and we forget to love ourselves.

    Why we're so stupid?

    Is it always like this?

    Go on Robert :)

  • love the album! love the song! ...the dance is fantastic.

  • the cure runs through me...like fire...and makes me melt!!!!!

  • I'm not so crazy about the music but their dance meshed with it was amazing.

  • This song really touches my heart. Creepy, slightly disturbing, and right up my fuckin' alley!!! I LOVE THE CURE.

  • Great song, great dance!

  • Great song, great dance!

  • I liked the band in these days. Ahh the 80s. That really reminded me of Kate Bush and her performances. Nicely done.

  • Yes! The dancing reminds me of Kate Bush as well. She has got that distinct ballet style in the way she usually dances.

  • This is kinda odd :P...I love the cure, but I never envisioned it danced to ballet

  • Awesome O_o

  • O_o Love The Cure¡¡¡

  • omg that dance is so stupid. i like the old lady though lolz

    great song

  • Shut up, kid! The dance is twisted and supposed to give the viewer an uneasy feeling.

  • I agree with you toulonvar, the same happened with me, robert's lyrics changed my life 8 years ago

  • God the 80's were wierd with music videos Oo;

  • hey hey

    wusnt tha 80s

    was jus tha cure

    dammit

  • makes me cry, The Cure have been with me for more than 20 years, the music makes and marks my life

  • best version of siamese twins ever...most stupid dance ive ever seen though but i like the bitch slapping at the end...also Lol tolhursts last live appearance on drums unfortunate he didnt do just one more tour :-(

  • the black and white version gives the song a better Attmostphere..... i dont know how to describe it bit that it makes the song better in b and w

  • I agree with you!

  • I didn't realize Severin ever played in the cure...I'm surprised it took me this long to know that.

  • Although he was never an official member, and I don't believe played with them live ever. I believe this was after Simon Gallup left the group after his fight with Smith. He was probably pulling a favor due to their lack of a bassist.

  • I believe that was Steve Severin (from Siouxsie and Banshees) on the bass.

  • @ajittffcure i thought that was phil thornalley

  • @ajittffcure

    Yes sir.

They got a band together at same time : The Gloves : 1 LP that was excellent !

  • ohhh my Gawd. Thanks for this! This is so me and my husband. Warning: Listening to the Cure throughout your life will strenthen your capacity to feel gloomy, depressed, sad, on the virge of suicide at times, but its a very specific kind of soothing...and when something happy finally happens, its gonna seem surreal

  • I like your warning message!

  • It's not a good dance performance...it's trying to be artistic but it just looks spastic, overly dramatic and sloppy.

  • In color!

  • Colour!

  • You say tomato...

  • This song kicks total ass. At the age of about 15, I played the part that goes, "your nothing, i don't need you anymore , your nothing" over the phone to my boyfriend as I was breaking up with him. How mean!! You know who you are............

  • Ultimately only mean to yourself though.

  • not really , he loved Robert more than I did, if you know what I mean...............

  • Nope, I don't.

  • Haha. Nice (or mean), but nice!

  • I remember seeing this when it was 1st aired and being absolutly mesmerised and soooooo glad I had taped it. Such a beautiful song. Loved the dancers.

  • very beautiful, i love it :)

  • Siamese Twins is a beautiful song and wonderfully enacted by the two dancers. I just love when the violins come in.

  • This ballet is total nonsense, they dance as it if was the 4 seasons of Vivaldi. They should dance more quiet and focus and the theme and its tempo. This video is a spoil for this misunterpretation of this fantastic song. The camera doesn' t care about the band .

  • I disagree with your view. The ballet was more or less in sync with the music and it was graceful. The dancing is the highlight of this video. Where do you think the dancing wasn't focussing on the tempo and the theme? I'd like to know. Also, the camera has captured all the important bits.

  • Mi cancion preferida de The Cure!

    ese baile es muy gracioso!

  • The dancing is horrid.

    Great song though.

I think the old lady could be a dance teacher/choreographer maybe?

  • I remember this at the time! Great performance of this song, by what is as much the Glove as the Cure. but WHAT is going on with the dancers? Dreadful!! And the old lady, what's that all about?

  • She's the "girl at the window looking at me for a while"... She goes away "And everything falls apart". The ones saying the dancing is crap would say the same about the music if it was not played by Robert Smith.

  • Ha ha! Those smiling twins are funny. What up with granma? Did she tire of their dancing or did she just get jealous because she didnt have a twin?

  • I bet I could have done that better.

Also, nothing says I am a culturally deprived commoner than the statement,"I like art."

  • :°

  • I bet that could have been done well.

  • I died and went to heaven lol

  • I love art. Any more venomettes on youtube other than the one posted by maggot72?

  • I agree surfsexsea the song sounds great the dancing just annoys me, it makes me want to push them out of the way and just watch Rob sing.

  • Love siamese twins, but this interprative dance is comedy. LOL...OMG! You could've just used puppets on strings and got the same effect.

  • Was this before they did 'the Glove' album Blue Sunshine?

  • Wow, what a little gem to unearth. This is my favourite song off Pornography. It's a pity They're not this raw anymore; their sparse, moody stuff from the early 80's is still the best work they've done. I love the bit when the old dear gets the hump and just pisses off. What's that all about!?

  • I wish I could find this version to put on my iPod!Agreed the dancers seem a bit demented...

  • Darker than the darkness.

  • a beautiful version of this song...

    loved the violins...

  • Severin with the Cure...that's a new one!

  • This is just beautiful...touching stuff.

  • Thanx for posting this one.

  • Damn, that was awesome. I didn't get into the cure til '85 and i wish i was there during the pornography stuff.

  • This version comes quite close to the original (except the violins of course) But the dancers i think were quite disturbing...

  • Trivia - Anne Stephenson of the violinist duo The Venomettes, is the mother of Pete Bennett the winner of the UK's 2006 series of Big Brother. She appears on this video and used to play violin with loads of 80's bands.

  • What does this <3 mean???

    I mean the symbol.

  • it's a heart on the side ;) (turn it 90degre counter clock)

  • means a cock and balls, true

  • That's what i thought it meant, Saintpatienze

  • I love Robert and Severin Rocks but what the fuck?

  • You guys thought this was strange? Please, this was first drink stuff in the 80s. It's just ballet with a little extra Norma Kamali and eyeliner.

  • i thought i'd seen everything by them, this is a great find. roberts guitar tone sounds great very raw, and the violin is nice. I wonder if at any point robert almost started laughing because of the jerky motions of the dancers and the absurdity of the whole situation.

  • bad? not even! i wish more bands would take some weird experimental chances nowadays, like this - rather than making the same ol' tired music video. this is awesome!

  • Being a Cure fan too young to remember and old enough to read books about them, I have to say I've wanted to watch this for ages.

So, thanks for sharing! It's every bit as good (Bad?) As I'd hoped

  • strange but kool

  • I LOVE ROBERT SMITH!!! <3

  • comedy gold

  • weeeiiiirdddd! but I like ^_^
