Mine is doing this too. It comes and goes. I installed istat pro to monitor the CPU temps to see if there was a connection as suggested in blogs on this issue. Not so much for me. I found a tutorial on how to open up my make clean it and lube the fan axel with a tiny touch of graphite powder or WD40. I'll post again after I try it and tell you if it works.
MAC zealots, time to FACE REALITY!! Apple is giving you crap Quality control (china) while marketing it with glossy nice appearance, high price, overselling the quality.
@cinemascene lol i love macs but damn they are too expensive then i have to deal with this fan bullshit as i type i hear this fan i want to grab my computer and smash it
PC zealots, time to face reality! Microsoft is giving you crap OS's! Compared to literally every other OS out there, Windows is the least safe! Vulnerable to hackers, viruses, and some large security holes, you get a glossy hyped up aero window style, high price, and overselling the quality!

if you arent bald, or have a pet, i can say without a shadow of a doubt that there is hair in there. YOU NED TO CLEAN IT OUT!!! or get someone who knows something about computers to do it because you obviously dont.
That (cleaning my fan) didn't fix this issue in my case. I sent it to repair and Apple said it was a motor defect. I wonder why you "can say without a shadow of a doubt" without facing the problem on your own.
the berings in the fan are the issue if you can axcess the fan take the label off the back of the fans motor and put some oil in the berring light oil not thick and put the label back on then it should be quiet again unless its still under warnty
that sounds like these... - do yo know these electrical scissors you cut big pieces of meat with? (they have two blades right next to each other going back and forth like a manual saw)
or like a very powerful blender ;)
man, that nearly crunched my ears...!
sorry for you, though... good luck having it repaired!
sounds like a dirtbike

The fan in my HP Pavilion dv5 is starting to get like that... :/
Sometimes it gets stuck on itself and I have to whack the bottom of it to get it to spin again. It's incredibly loose.
I know it's not good to do that, my hard drive has had to park the heads several times to prevent damage because of that. <_<

I love it. My 17" I bought in 2007 JUST started this shit. I really am getting annoyed with Apple's recall policy's.

And how exactly do you propose cleaning it out.. its not like most Windows laptops where theres a huge vent to let the hot air out..
