大家唔使o甘激，我都是香港人，但係如果有關方面真係開完英文b­riefing，無再用中文-普通話交待，但客人中又以内地客居­多，o甘就有問題，起碼都搵個識普通話的人同d客交待下至o岩。

香港以前是國際城市(回歸後就不是了), 官方一切都以英文為準, 才會有此習慣. 但是, 為甚麼你們不在英語簡報會要求官員即場翻譯, 而事後找個小職員出氣呢? 香港人只會覺得你們野蠻呢!? 我們稱呼這類為大陸人. 不要誤會, 大家都是中國人, 不是說來自中國的也是大陸人, 他們只是受到革命核輻射影響, 每遇上狀況, 必將對方鬥死為止^)^

I think the problem is that a notice was given to all hotel guests that there is FIRST a English meeting... and then LATER a Putonghua meeting. So maybe many Putonghua guests didn't go to English meeting, and just wait for Putonghua meeting later.

But the meeting never happened...

Your point is taken about their attitude. It's easy to judge when you're not in a similar situation.

If the HK government had promised, in writing, a Putonghua meeting, don't you think they had a right to ask about it? This is not something that they were demanding.

If you want to see how many Putonghua guests cannot speak English, come to Metropark on Friday 8:30!

the couple really has attitude problem....they should learn some basic english before they travel....what if some accidents occurred to them, they dont even know how to communicate with others if this occurred...

For your information, I've met many guests in the hotel who don't speak English - Spanish, Japanese, Italian, and of course Chinese. Most of these people simply didn't bother showing up because they couldn't understand what was going on.

It's fine if people want to complain about their attitude, but it doesn't change the fact that the goverment PROMISED a Putonghua meeting, and then didn't deliver. It wasn't a case of them demanding one.

Another thing you have to understand is that us hotel guests had no access to the outside world. And the people they spoke too REPRESENTED the government, otherwise there was no point of them being there, risking their life for nothing.

Please understand that not only these two Beijing visitors were frustrated. A lot of Europeans were frustrated too yet no one ever seems to attack them when they get angry.

For days we waited for answers on plane tickets, visas, etc... and it was always 'I dont know'. If that was to happen to you over and over again, I'm sure it'd be hard to control your temper too.
