You can also see Tacoma's winning tug-of-war against your beloved Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Ford, and even Nissan (you can simply write GM instead of Chevy and GMC since they are the same). Rather sad to see a full size truck that weighs more than a Tacoma being drug across the parking lot with its wheels spinning and the Tacoma isn't even breathing hard.

You also have to keep in mind that Toyota is already following SAE J2807 towing standards that will be mandatory in 2013. Correct me if I am wrong but neither Ford or GM are using those standards. Wherefore, it is plausible that the tow ratings I posted for both the Ranger and Colorado could be over exaggerations on the part of their respective automotive companies. Rather sad considering that the Tacoma is already more capable. So you go ahead and take the less capable truck.

I know what vehicles are in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have completed 4 tours. Re-read my post. I stated that GM and Ford are over there. I also informed you that Toyota products are the ones used outside the wire. There is a reason for that. It is called blending in. If you take a Ford F150 out into Shank, Afghanistan you will stick out like a sore thumb. It is for safety reasons on top of performance. Hilux can fit on the trails easier than a fullsize truck.

One thing I agree with you on is Kia being junk.

It is a combination of frame, suspension, and drive train which enables a vehicle to tow x amount. With that in mind I would recommend against towing more than recommended in the vehicles manual. Plus, you can get a hefty ticket for overloading the capability of a truck and endangering others on the road. Thus, all a Colorado can tow is 4000 lbs with a 5 cyl and 6000 lbs with a V8 while a V6 Tacoma tows 6500 lbs.

Oh wow... really?... I'm fixing to pay deposit on the 2012 Tacoma, SR5, a silver one with a bull bar and side steps. I think they're the greatest trucks ever built for the road as of the SR5, and the off-road will do great in the mud and dirt roads. But I'll be on the pavement road a lot so I am definitely going for the SR5. Come on now... they can't be bad, they are just awesome :) and run smoother. You will see more and more people driving them on the road. Who don't have a Tacoma??
