  • OMG, the first person I've ever seen out-Cynthia Cynthia Gregory on the attidue blanances, although I've heard Marcia Haydee was so good she'd be waiting there on pointe already in attitude waiting for her princes to come up and "help" her balance. SG;s feet and legs almost move perfectly without her brain and torso motivating them so each limb has its own beauty and style (Makarova had this quality). And all 3 had these beautiful extensions, but each had her own quality, SG's was 180 yet soft,

  • I love the gentlemen's jackets so tutuish!!!

  • @kimmois1 bahahahahahaha wow you have issues. Serious ones. And you went just a tad bit extreme don't you think? Excuse me for merely questioning something that I was unsure of. And I'm sorry that you're so small minded that you feel the need and find enjoyment in pointlessly harassing an anonymous random over youtube. You have no place to make those calls about me, you have no idea who I am. Please grow up sometime you sad, low-life little being.

  • ahahahah...this is all too funny....CAN'T YOU GUYS RECOGNIZE DANCERS??!?!?! I am a huge fan of Sylvie and I know her mouvements and body BY HEART. And THIS is her!

  • no one can do the rose adagio without wobbling a lot . . . except sylvie

  • Sylvie Guillem and perfect it have neither compare? To .....

    she adaoro

  • Sylvie Guillem and perfect it have neither compare? To .....

    she adaoro

  • you can tell its SG , look at her classic french training , look at her trade mark anti - flagged foot in attitude , and to me Sylvie to this day has the best passe position , But the Red Hair big give away

  • so if this is apparently Viviana Durante... does that mean that the other video you posted of this same performance "Sylvie Guillem is human!" where she stacks it, is actually not Sylvie aswell?

You're not very clear about who it is...

  • @110Hermione011 I am absolutely clear about this, she IS SYLVIE GUILLEM. Don´t know what happens with the thread that seems to confuse the info...

  • @chiyunlulu

I don't mean to hassle you, I'm just a bit confused because in one comment, in reply to @vanjw, you said "this is Viviana Durante in the same ballet" and in reply to my comment you said this "is Sylvie Guillem"... just wanted to clear it up..which is it?

  • Hi! In my reply to@vanjw, I linked to another video with Viviana Durante in the same ballet, but for some odd reason the link didn´t work up... anyway, this one is definitely Silvie Guillem!!! Thanks for watching!

  • @chiyunlulu look at those hyperextended knees and ridiculous feet!! THIS VIDEO IS 100% SYLVIE!!!

  • @110Hermione011 lol its guillem obviously

  • @110Hermione011 Wish they'd shown *all* of the Rose, but you can see very different coaching between Durante's coaching and Guillem. In the opening supported BIG developpes, Vivianna pulls rapdily to retiree, stops, then waits a second before she continues the developpe. Sylvie sustains motion as very legato.

  • She will always be my favorite Aurora!!!! Just amazing interpretation and technique!!! I am gong to see the ABT on the 12th of Feb...just an amazing ballet especially for new balletomanes...and I will be going with one...cannot wait to see this ballet through his eyes!!!!!

  • Omg @ 2:57

  • @chiyunlulu i think sylvie was dancing Lilac fairy

  • @chiyunlulu i think sylvie was dancing Lilac fayrie

  • I saw and filmed the 2 performances she danced in Buenos Aires, Lilac Fairy was danced by Benazir Hussein.

  • @vanjw That's definitely Guillem. Durante is much more petite than her. Smaller legs and her feet look nothing like Sylvies, not even in this video. She's unmistakable. That's definitely Sylvie. Watch an old video of her dancing Grand Pas Classique, definitely her legs and feet. No doubt in my mind. Awesome video!

  • Of course this is Sylvie Guillem

  • I want to trade legs/feet with her

  • 2:58 omg

  • how she can lift her feet so high??impossible.

  • I have seen her doing Beauty live in London. It took my breath away. I will never forget that evening for my whole life. After Sylvie: the dark

  • @fabiolousful YES AFTER HER THE DARK

  • Merci Sylvie !!!!

  • Just curious for those who know... are those costumes difficult to dance with?

  • When I wore a costume like that, I had difficulties with getting my leg up. But those dancers are used to wear this on stage, so they don't have problems with it. Also, they practise with them.

  • i saw her live in japan and then she just kept balance without taking hands of the fourth prince at the end of the adagio. it was incredible. that is too bad that no one has a movie of that performance.

  • I missed seeing her live last year because her performance would have been on a school night.... WHICH REALLY BLOWED. She's incredible.

  • I was in this performance in Buenos Aires / Luna Park Stadium , it is unforgettable , she lives only to prof that perferction exists.

  • "she lives only to prove that perfection exist"

i think i'll have those words placed under the tattoo of her that will adorn the back of my leg this spring.

you've changed my life. thank you for understanding perfection when you see it.

  • omg xO

    those feet and extensions?!

    thank you for posting :)

  • All the dancers i know (french russian american) adore Sylvie Guillem. We all works to look the same way. Just snobish critics (they never was ballet dancer) don't like her. She's simply the best. Zakharova, Lacarra, Novikova , Letestu are really good but they just try to look like her with more talents than the others

  • Technically she is the best, but not my favorite. It doesn't make me a snob. I prefer emotion to technique.

  • @parisprag

I would rather disagree with you, because Zakharova and Lacarra are lyrical ballerinas and Sylvie is not. She is adancer ofherown style.

  • Love me some Rose Adagio

  • is she really Sylvie?

this video is not very clear that i can't see her face.

  • ???? who needs to see her face?

if there´s a ballerina in the whole world you just can´t mistake with anybody else, is Sylvie... her legs, her feet, her technique, the six o´clock position...

  • @chiyunlulu I know i have the divd with viviana durante adn she is incredible sweet and a beautiful aurora but sylvie he r extensions are mezmerazing

  • @chiyunlulu actually it is viviana durante

  • absolutely perfect. she's so graceful and lyrical yet so strong and full of power at the same time. absolutely gorgeous

  • Yes, unlike the new breed of Zakharova and Somova, she never distorts her lines to achieve her extensions. She doesn't need to because of her extraordinary physique.

  • She is heavenly...a true ballerina and artist, one of the greatest ever. I never understood her critics. Her lines are breathtaking. Her technique is dazzling and connected. She serves the art. She lifts the ballet UP. She is the most adorable Aurora I have ever seen....a diamond, a dancing confection on pointe, and still human. Now, I can say I truly love Sleeping Beauty.

Thank you so much for posting.

  • @yes4albert I have to agree, technically. However, I must say that I don't care for her artistic interpretation of Aurora here. She lacks an innocence that Act I calls for. but technically speaking, it really doesn't get any more flawless than this.

  • she ıs fantastıcc dancer love her ...

  • She's a wonderful dancer, but I dislike the way she changes the choreography at the very end so that she stands with her arms up rather than bowing to the princes. That makes the dance about her rather than the character.

  • only guillem can make high extensions look that tastefull. her upperbody is divine she is aurora

  • Be careful what you say. Your ignorance is showing.

  • my ignorance? how can you make such assessment of anyone from a comment on youtube?

  • clearly you don't know good technique. honestly, study ballet and read books..and WATCH Sylvie. take classes for years...and then you will know technique, thus knowing that Guillem has the absolute BEST dance style/form/technique and yes, ATTITUDES that anyone will ever witness.

however, it is okay if you've not accepted that truth yet.

  • what on earth could you possibly know about what I do or dont know? I have, by the way, taken classes for years. Read what books? LOL!! There are moments when she takes her suitor's hand (for example @ 3:46) where her attitude pose is "perfect", but then it drops down right away and looks pretty awful. I have watched Sylvie, many many times, live and on film.

  • I have at least 5 books on ballet: The Pointe Book, etc. I even have a book that was written in the 50s. so what I mean by READ BOOKS is that of course, you gain insight! you learn history and all those things[not that you don't know them]

i love dance and dance lovers..so no need to fight about it, right?

    my only question is this:

can you name a better dancer?

  • I guess you can't, given the fact that you haven't responded!

  • cette ballerine est fascinante !

  • She's unique.

  • This music is so pretty...and sylvie is just"wow" lol thoose feet my lord and thoose legs and the power she has when she dances....ughhhh shes lucky yo have it all. i have to say this is prob. one of her best roles, in my opinion!! nice job sylvie....lol

  • when did she dance this?

  • She danced this on tour with The Royal Ballet in 1996. Buenos Aires, Argentina
