3:34- did the guitar strings strike his face when he yanked them? is that y he put his hands over his face? or is he just being stupid and pointlessly emotional
oh shit..i didnt nkow they had videos of them in such good quality...if anyone has any shows of the DC band. "Hated" then let me know. they were around the same time.
Jimmy, unfortunately I don't have any videos of Hated. I saw them several times and never got any footage of them. Dan was in a college class of mine, he's the most laid back, sincere guy you'd ever want to know.
oh my fucking god...your soo lucky. my friend told me he only had heard of one video, and the guy from deadwood devine(heard of him) i forget his name, but he had one. yea ive listened to ida for that reason that dan is in the band. thanks for the info
rites of spring never associated themselves with emo and actually discredited it, but its really how you take their music. trying to call out who was the godfather of emo is a pretty fuckin hard thing to do, but to some extent, this is pretty much where emo started up.
rites of spring, still most definitely one of the greatest bands ever, emo or not.
Rites Of Spring will ALWAYS be associated with Emo as long as the term is still around. The name was first attributed to them so whether you like it or not, the two will never be separate. Plus Emo should be about the music not the fashion right? I don't see any eyeliner on Guy Picciotto.
This was taped by the 9:30 people who used to sit in those towers and it was shown over the TV screens all over the club. Not many of these videos were "kept" and many of them were erased the following night. One wonders about the millions of historic shows that were destroyed so it's good we have this one.
ok, posted a REALLY bad copy of persistent vision for you cattellar. if you know the song well enough, you can follow along. i don't know of any other copies of them doing this song live. i never saw them do it live personally.
Rights of Spring & Embrace= Fugazi. Remain vigulant. I don't mind control.

you're an idiot, these guys are basically the first 'emo' and the fathers of what 'emo' is today, you're most likely thinking of stupid scene
SwoopsDeWoops 3 years ago
yeah, there are scene emos, but still today there are real emos fighting for good mucis and fighting for respect.
