  • This is a great insight into a unique race track and with the Flying Scot talking us through each twist and turn it really is a joy to watch, thanks so much for posting this

  • Ickx was fantastic in the Ring

  • He meant 23 kilometers right?

  • I like these cars better than today's modern F1 cars. They're built the way I like my women - tiny but wider in the back end. ;)

  • No warm up lap? :D

  • @FlyingFinn93

the lap was too long for a warm up lap

  • This was part of F1 Decade

  • The good old Nurburgring is still there and it will be a F1 GP Circuit again in 2020.

  • Love this.....Stewart & Cevert were supreme....Cevert, with his matinee idol look's would have been a fantastic F1 champion.....a tragic loss..it must have broken Stewart's heart to lose his friend and protoge' at the season's end...Ickx driving the McLaren M23 for the first and only time outran regular driver's Revson & Hulme with ease.....legend's all...

  • Amazing racetrack.

  • Jackie Stewart always comes across torn between his obvious affection for the era, but also knowing how crazy it was and how many friends killed.

I always think though, if they hadn't died racing ? wouldn't they have died mountaineering or flying helicopters or something instead ? Some people are just driven to the limit, and some of those people won't make it back

  • Sureal! The nowadays tracks are boring, also the races. That´s gorgeous to race with so good landscape, track and rough cars how that one!

  • i think it must be very great for jackie to see this old pics of his era again... and on the other hand it must be very sad for him to see all his friends again which died in the line of their passion.

and i think jackie stawart should be do ecclestones job! now one needs this cocksucker how destroyed f1!

  • Jackie forgot to say something about the F1 champion of 1972. Emerson Fittipaldi was racing too. But did not qualify well and ended in 6th...You can see him on the rear rows at the beggining. Look for a black Lotus 72E...

  • @edloos Yeah, in fact at 6:54 Sir Stewart is talking about Mickey Mouse and his enormous ears...

  • Is there someone who knows Lap time of those F1 cars?

Porsche 956 of GroupC was 6:11

  • @ukks63 something about 7 minutes

  • @bavarianbass Thank you!

  • @ukks63

In 1973 the pole time was done by Jackie Stewart

    Tyrrell 006/Ford

    7'07.8

  • @elmenda33 Thank you ! you know well about it!

  • Great times for Tyrell

  • Can't wait for F1 2010 from codemasters. That game looks tight

  • Ran that track in Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2. God I hated that place. Don't know how many times i had to run it to pass the license test.

  • Jackie Stewart may very well be the only person who could save F1.

    God Speed Jackie!

  • I hope he can. I haven't been watching F-1 for over 3 years due to the direction it's heading...

  • true....

    but. FANGIO....

    as in...

5 times world champion, Juan Manuel "chueco" Fangio....

they werent better than him, and his era was as dangerouse as his.

  • what about fangio, prost, senna?

    ;)

  • I was only 5 years old at the time, and don't remember watching this race, but I do recall watching the race when Nicki Lauda crashed just before Bergwerk. I never thought I would ever have the chance to drive this circuit in my life, but now that I have, it's amazing how different the vegetation and growth is today compared to this video.

    Great video!

  • Great era, with a great heroes........

  • I was 4 years old, living close to the track, and i have only a few things about this time in my head. That track is the most amazing race track in the world and it is nice to hear that the american guy knows most of the parts from the track. The old times will never come back but it is wonderfull to see that so many people have the same view of this! Green Hell :-)

  • yes its really gret too see that actally so much people know the nürburgring and mainly the nordschleife im living 1 1/2 hours from the track and im anytime there when i can on the dtm , in 3 weeks f1 and of course the 24 hour race and all vln rounds on it its just ,,The Racing Cuircit" its an explanation what passion what racing what glory is

  • David Hobbs is a rather well travelled english racing driver - he drove just about everything everywhere at some point - no surprise there :)

  • thank you very much for posting this such a pleasure to watch

  • stewart is wrong about 1976 german gp................it was niki lauda's accident

  • Yes he misspoked then

  • They should have these old races with old drivers commentating on tv all the time. This is absolutely amazing. Stuff formula 1 now!!

  • My apologies, franticfury; it looks as if my comment was aimed at you. It was, of course, directed at the moron called EugenioBalasa. I think the "Reply" facility must have been taking a break!

  • i remember seeing this Telecasted during the 2003 US GP coverage...I think it was like between the two practice sessions on Friday or something.

  • You complete and utter twat

  • The best vid if ever seen

  • thanks for sharing!

  • i have same version on a my computer!! thanks for uploading, this is great gp! :)

sadly. Cevert abd Peterson died :(

  • Two of the best commentators of all time.

  • this is true f1 shit right here nurburgring,i was there 4 days a go and i love that fuckin track ,is hugeeeeeeee i was on my honda civic doo i took like and olmost 30 minute too go around

  • Great video. That was a very informative. Makes me want to do a few laps there in a sports car, which you can actually do. It's open to the public.

  • He is the best as well.

  • Ronnie Peterson was the best.

  • Haha burn David hobbs lives in my state and owns a honda dealership

  • Yes he does, Wisconsin.. I was with him out at the Charlotte Kart race just last week in NC. Hes a really great guy

  • Awesome

  • STFU Crankep...

    Thanks for the video

  • Very nice video! I really enjoyed the Formula 1 Decade on SPEED... To bad they don't run any more old races.

  • what's the name of the SPEED presenter?

  • David Hobbs

  • yes I thought so, a real expert.

  • @wippermann David Hobbs was already pilot of F1 at that time of Stewart, but without success. . .

  • Thanks, beautiful! Ronnie STILL is my hero.

  • oh my god... frightening stuff. "They didnt give us an installation lap in case we saw the dangers and didnt come back."

  • Gorgeous stuff. This is what I watched as a kid. Ronnie was my hero.

    Cheers, Dink
