I think it is to early to say how the E.U. will evolve. In ten years I think England may join the E.U. and the NAFTA might expand to encompass some of the pacific like South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
'big country leaders' came up with the Lisbon treaty. 'Well done'. Now the policies, which previously could not be pushed through. will be much easier to put in action. Concentrating power in the hands of fewer - that is directly decreasing state's sovereignty.
1) Enough of US imposed neo-colonial foreign policy in EU and its hard power approach in Afghanistan and ongoing pressure on Iran, and interference in South America
2) A new Molotov-Ribentrop pact is arising within EU only this time it will be economical submission
3) All these experts talk from the big players perspective - countries whose interests EU ''is supposed'' to represent and protect. When it was obvious that EU is too individualistic and split with its small countries having a say,
It is worth mention, that this treaty is going to ease lawmaking, by majority woting. The veto is almost out of the game. This means, making common rules, standards, patens etc. will be more efficient. Then the EU will generate better growth. This is an important point.
Wow, and I thought American news programs were bad but thats a whole new dimension. Not that people debating there were that unreasonable, but what the heck is that clown who is supposed to be the moderator all about?
EDIT: After having seen all of it, I have to add, that I think its also pretty lame to have a so called debate between obvious EU skeptics only plus a Russian strategist. The only interesting actually was what the latter had to say.
The whole show completely failed to highlight the real tectonic changes caused by Lisbon:
1. unanimity falls in most areas, except for foreign and defense issues.
2. in all those majority voting areas the Parliament gets equal legislative powers to the Council.
YEah Cross Talk Rules. Very good informative show, job well done. A 30 minute extension would have been even more spectacular. I felt Dmitri had more goodys to share with us. Also each and every European country is doing its part to brain wash its population to their political interests. Would love for you guys to go in to that
No it was started to circumvent democracy and constitutional protections of the nations comprising it. Constitution gets in the way of the global elite. They miss the good old days of fuedalism and are fooling the sheep to get it back.
All this doomsday bullshit. What has the EU ever done to undermine world security. It is a project started with the idea that peace and security in Europe can be achived by greater cooperation. This it has managed to do wonderfully. It has never been involved in bullshit conflicts(that is the US). If the world is doomed it is so not because of any aggression caused by the EU.
right buddy, how about the fact that some 30 nations now have *one* president who is appointed, not elected. almost all have no sovereignty, no control over their currency or trade..?
they should hang all mps who signed the lisbon treaty without letting the people vote on it
