The continental jungle warfare that the British and Indian troops experienced in Burma was probably the most intense and vicious fighting of the war. It would make for a great Band of Brothers type drama. Thanks to Yank propoganda films usually starring John Wayne, the British 14th Army is practically forgotten even though they played a massive part in Japans defeat.
Was it ever England's to begin with? If there was any lesson learnt during the horrendously lamentable second world war, it was that, mercifully, the age of exploitative empire building, axis OR allied....was over.
Thanks for these wonderful videos of the Burma campaign. I give a silent prayer of thanks for all who fought so bravely so we can live our lives in freedom today. Thank you.....
I am interested in this campaign as well. Fascinating. I think the 1st war use of helicopters happned here??? Not sure. HAve been to Kunming China and will return and see the monument to the AVG Flying Tiger group...Bill
