After you pass the CPNE you may want to view some of the other youtube IV videos on IV insertion, piggybacks, pushes, and compatabilities. Also check out the book "Clinical Nursing Skills- Basic to Advanced" by Smith, Duel and Martin, Chapter 28 and 29. I find this reference to be very helpful so far. You're gonna do just fine:)
First, you should ID your patient, put on gloves and check the site for warmth, or swelling. Then cleanse the IV port with alcohol before you connect your syringe. Flush with saline. Then flush your medication. Then flush again with saline, but this time at the same rate you flushed the medication to avoid speed shock. You did fine. Just be careful not to contaminate your needle; only let your fingers touch the under part of the plunger and not the inner rod.
