Thanks for that quick reply. Are the GT10 presets really are the actual sounds or did you make some tweaks? As I saw it in some demo video, I noticed that in the demo eq's are at 12 o'clock and just increased the output level. I like the sound of the presets and planning to get rid of my personal tones and just get the presets. I really have problems with feedbacks. I can't lower the eq's and gains anymore because it affect the tone that I want
Is it possible to use the preamp modelling if you are connecting in front of the guitar amp. Some says that the gt10 preamp modelling is competing with the preamp of the guitar amp. Is this possible. Thanks
@gerrit8962 I find the best way to use the GT-10 when connected to the front of the amp is to not use the amp modeling in the GT-10 but use the stomp box effects. The GT-10 has really distortion stomp models that sound good with any amp.
@extremevideopro Ok I changed my tone to a clean channel but i'm not getting it to the full volume that i want. when ever i playing i have to have the solo up 100% and i get to hear my notes. How could i get it to where i have the pre-amp at that volume just like i have the solo boost on.
i am just setting up my studio and am unsure what to use for an amp and speakers, i am looking at the gt 10 and am curently have the gr 55 a jam man delay as well as an rp 355. I dont gig just compose and record, the stores all want to sell me monster combo amps but i would prefer to save space and spend my money on quality not quanity. what could you recomend, would referance monitors do it? and have you herd of any one using the roland gr 55 and the gt 10 togeather?
@didjaholic1 Yes good studio monitors would do it. If you have the GR-55 you really don't need the GT-10 becasue the GR-55 contains the GT-10 processor inside. Same sounds, same effects, everything.
Yep I do get a lag and it annoys me a bit, only when I tried using CTL 3 and CTL 4, the on board CTL 1&2 are seemless, maybe its the equipment I use, unlike your setup I use the Boss FS-6 (unlatch mode for both switch) and a stereo cable in the center..I notice yours was FS-5U with red and white phone insert type cables if I'm not mistaken..anyway I'll try using that and we'll see.
@morrismaglasang No I haven't. So you are getting a lag when doing this?? Mainly I use control 3 for distortion gain boost and delay level change. I use CTL 4 for Phaser or Tremelo
@JonyTehPony Hey Jonas, yes the overdrives stomp models in the GT-10 are very very good. That's one of the things I like about the GT-10. That and the good sounding effects.
Great tone and video , are the grey monitors behind you Event speakers? I'm picking one of these up from my friend who doesn't use it any more and seeing this video is very inspiring. Thanks
@extremevideopro Hey man you're great!!! I really apreciate your work!!! I have a gt10 but also many problems... for example, in a part of your video you use the octaver and damn it, it souns really good, but, in my gt10 the same effect sounds a little dirty, I mean, the signal seems to be interrupted, when I play it and let it ring it sounds like if my cable had a false contact, but it's a little difficult perceive... I send it to fix it but they told me that nothing is broken...
@gh0stmasta That's because I have the extra control pedals and they are programmed to add more gain. If you just turn up the gain on the OD stomp manually it will be same thing as when I engage my extra control pedal.
I generally tend to resist digital distortions but I think this one gives some pretty good tones. I don't think I've never heard anything truly useable from Digitech or Line 6 (and Line 6 is supposed to be the expert with digital distortions).
I have watched quite a few of your videos,,great to learn from! I have problems with my highs being thin ,,really pierce to the point of aggravation, not so bad recording but seems uncontrollable live.so much so ,I have went back to my trusty stomp boxes. But I really love the effects the rotary and wat nots ,my main reason for the pedal,,any ideas to help.
@Phatstrat76 Yes, these patches are designed for direct recording. I have separate patches for live with an amp but they use only the stomp boxes inside of the GT-10 which I think are quite good when used with a real amp.
Nice video bro! how can I get rid off my feedbacks when I am engaged in overdrive and hi gain solos. Tried to turn off tone modifier, eq and compressor but still there are feedbacks especially if I increase the volume. If I lower the volume from the amp and the master volume of the GT10 if don't get feedbacks but the sound is to low I don't hear anything when we start playing together. Can you help me
I own a Fender Stage 112se but i can not carry it all the time. I usually experience feedbacks with Peavey (the tube type) and Orange amp. I like to plug in the poweramp in if it is available with the amp like the Fender Stage 112se because I use the amp/cab modelling of the GT10
@gerrit8962 Yeah that's ths problem. The GT-10Amp/Cab modeling does not work good with a real Amp & Cab. It is best to use a power amp only and speakers like you do with the fender stage 112se
So that's why I always get those feedbacks. So do you think it is better to create a similar set of patches that I already have this time not using the GT10 amp/cab modelling in case I encounter such real amp/cab without poweramp input. Thank you so much for your help
nice explanation. i love to buy gt-10 too, however, I saw that you added more pedals.. does it mean that gt-10 alone won't give sufficient tones? thanks
If i have a roland ev-5 expression pedal with the gt10 , Can i have wah and whammy set to the pedals at the same time?(wah to gt10 exp. pedal & whammy to the ev-5)
@Guiataristmarshall01 HMMM, that's a good question. I know that if you want to use the GT-10 pedal for whammy you have to turn off the Wah. Weather or not you can "assign" the whammy to expression pedal 2 I'm not sure. If you look into the assign section you might find the answer. Wish I could help more.
Just asuggestion, I just bought the gt 10 and im amazed as I am skeptic because I love tube tone live. I really want to start playing live direct because of carrying amps and such. I was setting up tones and when I plugged it in the pa direct, I compared output settings. This is the button below the output volume knob. I have found that i get a warmer sound with the small amp setting instead of line/phones out. Be careful though. you dont want to blow or clip yor channel on the P.A.
@chriswilliamstunes im going to give this a chance live and hope it works out. If not, ill be getting my old vox tonelab back , I feel it will. Boss is killer. I also love my line 6 spider valve/bogner that is inccredible but not wanting to carry it lol
ive heard both line 6 and gt-10 and many reviews on them both. from what i get, the amps on line 6 r suppose to be better while the effects on gt10 r superior. i wonder if its possible to emulate and tweak the amp models gt 10 to equal that of the line 6??
thinking of trying this out :).This pedal is like line 6 live x3 pod right? Can u edit all tones, make em up without having extra pedals like at line 6 though?
Your Playing is Very nice, but it sounds like you're playing through a small transistor radio. Small and squished .The set up does not do you justice in my opinion .For whatever it is worth I would suggest getting better sounding equipment that would do you justice .
@mcafee1971 exactly! When i bought my GT-10 i loved it, sounded good to me. Now that my ear got "pickier" i notice that the sond just sounds closed up, like it's in a box, even with the bass realy low, and REALLY un-natural. Note To EVERYONE: if you're thinking of buying this simply don't. If you're looking for a lot of effects for little money buy a cheaper multieffects unit, like a pod 2.0 or somethin, dont waste almost 500 euros on this
@extremevideopro hi there i have a question about the boss gt 10: would it sound like mush and fuzzy if connected to a peavey vypyr 75 watt combo? because i owned a line 6 spider 4 15 watt combo and it just sounded like mush and fuzzy and bunches of gain even on clean setting. will this happen to my peavey vypyr 75 watt combo?
@extremevideopro thank you but i still understand because like if i put my vypyr 75 on the cleanest setting possible and take out all the gain so that you cant hear wen i strum my guitar and i connect the boss gt 10 and use its preamps then will you hear anything? would it work as a cabinet?
Need help again sir. I set my expression pedal to control the drive of my OD/DS, and my EXP switch to control turn on the wah. BUT when I turn the wah on, the pedal is still controlling the drive! Is there a way to set it so when I turn the wah on, the drive is set to maximum till i switch it off again?
@BujoySeth I don't think it can do both. If you have the expression pedal to control drive then it can't control anything else. I'm not 100% sure about this though. You should go over the the Boss GT Central forum. There is a guy on there that goes by "Gumtown" He can answer your question with 100% certainty. Just google Boss GT-Central and you will find it.
I just bought one of these things and I can't make heads or tails of it.Does anybody know if it is possible to use just the delay for example with my amps natural distortion or just the chorus, etc..I read the owner manual and it gave me a headache. Thanks
hey dude, like usual very impressed... was gonna say with the gt10 do all the patches have equal volumes, i got a zoom pedal which is rubbish and everytime i turn it on its always super loud and anoying feedback.. just wondered
Sir, i've been trying to load your patches, it seems that I cant load you .mid files, The librarian says its not supported. i tried loading gxg files and it worked. Could you share your patches using gxg file please. I really love your tones
@extremevideopro Actually sir, i downloaded paul hanson's costum patches and I sucessfully loaded them in my GT10. I have found the problem, i cant import your file because if everytime i click on FILE of the librarian, the librarian closes. Anyway, Thanks a lot, your videos are helpful.
Hey Glenn, really enjoy your playing and instruction. Two questions. 1: are you using a superV on your strat? 2: The bad monkey et al are all in the effects loop and it seems you use them as needed, but you didn't explain the Boss EQ. Is that always active or do you EQ the individual patches on the GT 10 and only kick in the external EQ for specific instances? I've never used and external EQ with my old GT 6. Thanks.
hi glenn, nice playing.. i'm a solo instrumental guitar player, i need to ask you some questions of that's ok..
1. i've seen you plug into the gt10 into an amp usually, how does the gt10 sound if plugged straight into the computer usb or the PA?
2. which do you think is better for solo tones & live gigs - the gt10 or the line6 x3 live?
3. i'm a guitar rig user primarily, so i don't have any amps, but i'd like to expand my sound palette to quite some extent.. so would you suggest the gt10?
@kabirnagranee The GT-10 sounds great direct to a PA or computer. Both GT-10 & X3-Live have good sounds. The X3-Live is geared more toward Metal while the GT-10 has great clean & crunch settings. Effects are good in both. I have a detailed review of both units on my blog if you care to read it.
@extremevideopro thanks glenn. yup i had seen all of those and was very inclined towards the gt-10 in every way, but thought i'd ask you anyway. somehow at a level of feeling, i just don't get one from the pod x3 live. i've also been reading up a lot of your replies to people's queries about gear/technique, and i must say, you're the single most helpful chap on the internet.. :)) thanks a ton, and keep on the lovely playing.
Hello Glen. First question. How does the YCS50 compare to the YCV50(blue) in tone. I have that amp and a Fender Blues Deville and Deluxe. I thought the YCV50 was to edgy and brittle compared to the other two amps. (and not a lively) Next, do you like the Boss GT 10 or the Digitech GSP 1101 for adding to a live rig to keep your amp tone. Your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
I've watched all your POD demo vids and your Boss ones are no different. Man, you could take a stick and a box of nails and get a great tone! Rock on, bro!
hi there...gr8 tones...I currently have a pod x3 live ...but im really thinkin bout getting gt 10....now I play a lot of metal(not only but i do play em)...now u replied previously to a comment on youtube that x3 is good for metal...but man ur tones are so perfect for rock n roll and METAL.r u using any amp heads or other source of distortion..wat do u recommend for me...i want to play everything (:D) shall I buy the gt 10 and a distortion pedal ...dont have the money for an amp head...reply plz
@sandblastedXIII The X3Live is really the best thing for metal right now in that price range. The GT-10 just does not have the gain. It starts to get really grainy.
@extremevideopro what do u suggest to use with a pod x3 ...a monitor(or a pair of monitors) or an amp (ive heard tech 21 power engine is good as it doesnt change the sound)
Hey guy! would you happen to have the tab for the acoustic song Eagles fly from the Van Halen right now tour, look at all the tab sites and no-one has it and can not figure it out?
Hey Glenn found the problem the device info on the gt-10 has to match the device info on the midi settings in the librian other wise no info will be transmitted or recieved between the gt-10 and the librian.Pass it along and thanks again
Ok Thanks a million,my next question is I use a Peavey P.A with a RQ-3014 mixer board so wich tone would work best?Direct not amp?? and also are you folks planning on touring in western Washington? watched your live vid`s and you guys sound great.
@helicopterdave2001 Hmmm, It's hard to tell where my new blues project will take me. I would love to make it out there though. Direct to PA with no amp will probably sound best.
Hello, have down loaded drivers-librian-patches and unzipped all but when I try to insert into GT-10 get message midi setting`s are incorrect so which settings do I use for windows xp?
my friend , i know you've heared this question alot but i'm gonna ask u again i hope i'm not disturbin' i'll apretiate the answer , Do i buy this or i buy Digitech Rp1000 ? i mean witch one is really better there gotta be a better one ? pls tell me i really need the answer cause i wanna buy one of them , thank you , btw your playin is awesome !!
@extremevideopro thank u man... im really confused because i have a band and i play live, but i record a lot at home, for example solos, some harm, onizations etc, and i dont want to buy more analog pedals baceuse i cannot plug them into my pc.
Hey Glenn, do you work for Boss because they seem to have put you through a college course to operate the GT-10. I was mesmerized at how you set up the ZZ Top sound on your other video. I just got me a GT-10 and set my sound up for the ZZ Top according to your settings and it sounds great. As soon as I figure out the computer thing I will be downloading all your sounds into my unit. Many thanks. I got a JS1200 coming and can't wait for the Satriani patch. Love your videos.
Hi there, I want to know if you can help me. I need a pedalboard for some high gain tones that let me also have a good organic fat crunch / lead tone (for studio and live use). Do you think that the best way is to get the X3 live or a GT10 ? P.S.: This pedalboard will be powered for a Fender FM212R (I'm playing thrash and 80's hard rock mostly).
Sorry for any mistake, I'm not very good with English ^^'

@4906640190 It's called Pedal Bend and it is located in the Master FX/Pedal menu. Press then scroll to the Pedal FX menu and then enter. The turn the right knob under the screen to select PB/FV. Then you use the pedal to engage the effect. Your effects 1 & 2 are still free for other effects. Pretty cool!!
Hi,something strange happened, i turned on the GT 10 and it appeared the last original patch played (Megadreads from GT10) but his effect wasn´t working, the distortion sounded like "crunch".. so i decided to tune my guitar and i went to the BYPASS screen, and guess what happened next: Megadreads effect was normal ! how do you explain this?
For saying that Extreme is payed by BOSS he just removed all comments of a guy and blocked him. Now that guy can´t post comments anymore. What a anti-social person this Extremevideopro

Hey Glenn, when i connect my boss gt 10 to my PA or monitor at home, i hav to change output select as line /phones right? n when i play live then set it to combo or stack right? does it work da same way as pod x3 live's output system?
I haven´t read all peoples comments so this question might have appeared before but would it sound close to the tones you have if you plugged strait into a PA?
I run 3 kinds of setups for 3 bands,a rack setup and a setup for going strait into a combo and 1 for PA,and i was thinking about buying the same setup as you with another DS pedal and EQ but overall the same to kontrol it all,can i do that and in a quick way switch the output of the GT10 to PA ect...?
Hey glenn I've seen you use the GT10 and the POD HD500 which would you say is the best?
AlofD 1 month ago
@AlofD I cant really say one is better because IMHO, they both do things the other can't. I use both regularly for different applications.

If i have a roland ev-5 expression pedal with the gt10 , Can i have wah and whammy set to the pedals at the same time?(wah to gt10 exp. pedal & whammy to the ev-5)
Cheers mate.
Guiataristmarshall01 1 year ago
@Guiataristmarshall01 HMMM, that's a good question. I know that if you want to use the GT-10 pedal for whammy you have to turn off the Wah. Weather or not you can "assign" the whammy to expression pedal 2 I'm not sure. If you look into the assign section you might find the answer. Wish I could help more.

awesome tones my friend!! I have a question: In ths video the guitar sound is heard through the studio monitors you've got there??

@mikerhd89 Yes the sound is coming from my studio monitors.

Be careful though. you dont want to blow or clip yor channel on the P.A.
chriswilliamstunes 1 year ago
@chriswilliamstunes im going to give this a chance live and hope it works out. If not, ill be getting my old vox tonelab back , I feel it will. Boss is killer. I also love my line 6 spider valve/bogner that is inccredible but not wanting to carry it lol

ive heard both line 6 and gt-10 and many reviews on them both. from what i get, the amps on line 6 r suppose to be better while the effects on gt10 r superior. i wonder if its possible to emulate and tweak the amp models gt 10 to equal that of the line 6??
rickru1 1 year ago
thinking of trying this out :).This pedal is like line 6 live x3 pod right? Can u edit all tones, make em up without having extra pedals like at line 6 though?

Your Playing is Very nice, but it sounds like you're playing through a small transistor radio. Small and squished .The set up does not do you justice in my opinion .For whatever it is worth I would suggest getting better sounding equipment that would do you justice .
Best Wishes.
mcafee1971 1 year ago
@mcafee1971 exactly! When i bought my GT-10 i loved it, sounded good to me. Now that my ear got "pickier" i notice that the sond just sounds closed up, like it's in a box, even with the bass realy low, and REALLY un-natural. Note To EVERYONE: if you're thinking of buying this simply don't. If you're looking for a lot of effects for little money buy a cheaper multieffects unit, like a pod 2.0 or somethin, dont waste almost 500 euros on this

@extremevideopro hi there i have a question about the boss gt 10: would it sound like mush and fuzzy if connected to a peavey vypyr 75 watt combo? because i owned a line 6 spider 4 15 watt combo and it just sounded like mush and fuzzy and bunches of gain even on clean setting. will this happen to my peavey vypyr 75 watt combo?
mikoolio777 1 year ago
@mikoolio777 Isn't the Vypr a modeling amp? I wouldn't use a digital amp modeler with a modeling amp. Too much "modeling" going on!!
extremevideopro 1 year ago
@extremevideopro thank you but i still understand because like if i put my vypyr 75 on the cleanest setting possible and take out all the gain so that you cant hear wen i strum my guitar and i connect the boss gt 10 and use its preamps then will you hear anything? would it work as a cabinet?
mikoolio777 1 year ago
@mikoolio777 You will need a speaker cabinet.

BujoySeth 1 year ago
@BujoySeth I don't think it can do both. If you have the expression pedal to control drive then it can't control anything else. I'm not 100% sure about this though. You should go over the the Boss GT Central forum. There is a guy on there that goes by "Gumtown" He can answer your question with 100% certainty. Just google Boss GT-Central and you will find it.

Hey Glen - what's the clip on the neck of your strat for? not tuner...roland synth?
donaldmolbert 1 year ago
@donaldmolbert Hey Donald, That's called a Fat Finger. It's supposed to add sustain to your guitar. It works somewhat but not really that good.

Thanks.

@dh216832 Hey, sorry I don't know what a superV is. I was using the Boss EQ7 as a clean boost for leads when I need that extra uumph!

hi glenn, nice playing.. i'm a solo instrumental guitar player, i need to ask you some questions of that's ok..
1. i've seen you plug into the gt10 into an amp usually, how does the gt10 sound if plugged straight into the computer usb or the PA?
2. which do you think is better for solo tones & live gigs - the gt10 or the line6 x3 live?
3. i'm a guitar rig user primarily, so i don't have any amps, but i'd like to expand my sound palette to quite some extent.. so would you suggest the gt10?
kabirnagranee 1 year ago
@kabirnagranee The GT-10 sounds great direct to a PA or computer. Both GT-10 & X3-Live have good sounds. The X3-Live is geared more toward Metal while the GT-10 has great clean & crunch settings. Effects are good in both. I have a detailed review of both units on my blog if you care to read it.
extremevideopro 1 year ago
@extremevideopro thanks glenn. yup i had seen all of those and was very inclined towards the gt-10 in every way, but thought i'd ask you anyway. somehow at a level of feeling, i just don't get one from the pod x3 live. i've also been reading up a lot of your replies to people's queries about gear/technique, and i must say, you're the single most helpful chap on the internet.. :)) thanks a ton, and keep on the lovely playing.
kabirnagranee 1 year ago
Thanks.

hi there...gr8 tones...I currently have a pod x3 live ...but im really thinkin bout getting gt 10....now I play a lot of metal(not only but i do play em)...now u replied previously to a comment on youtube that x3 is good for metal...but man ur tones are so perfect for rock n roll and METAL.r u using any amp heads or other source of distortion..wat do u recommend for me...i want to play everything (:D) shall I buy the gt 10 and a distortion pedal ...dont have the money for an amp head...reply plz
sandblastedXIII 1 year ago
@sandblastedXIII The X3Live is really the best thing for metal right now in that price range. The GT-10 just does not have the gain. It starts to get really grainy.
extremevideopro 1 year ago
@extremevideopro what do u suggest to use with a pod x3 ...a monitor(or a pair of monitors) or an amp (ive heard tech 21 power engine is good as it doesnt change the sound)
sandblastedXIII 1 year ago
@sandblastedXIII Yes the Tech 21 or any FRFR amp would go well with the X3 or any other digital modeling FX pedal board.

Ok Thanks a million,my next question is I use a Peavey P.A with a RQ-3014 mixer board so wich tone would work best?Direct not amp?? and also are you folks planning on touring in western Washington? watched your live vid`s and you guys sound great.
helicopterdave2001 1 year ago
@helicopterdave2001 Hmmm, It's hard to tell where my new blues project will take me. I would love to make it out there though. Direct to PA with no amp will probably sound best.

Hello, have down loaded drivers-librian-patches and unzipped all but when I try to insert into GT-10 get message midi setting`s are incorrect so which settings do I use for windows xp?

@helicopterdave2001 Make sure the GT-10 USB settings are set to "Enable" and "Advanced". That is in the system menu under USB. That should do it.

THIS IS THE TYPICAL QUESTION, BUT HERE I GO.
what would be pretty much the differences between gt 10 an x3? i play death metal, but also soft rythms, blues etc.
guitarralaraja 1 year ago
@guitarralaraja Well, I don't think the GT-10 is capable of acceptable Death Metal tones. That's just my opinion.

@extremevideopro thank u man... im really confused because i have a band and i play live, but i record a lot at home, for example solos, some harm, onizations etc, and i dont want to buy more analog pedals baceuse i cannot plug them into my pc.
i think live 6 p3 is my option..
thankx for ur time man, greetngs from chile.
