  • i find that the theory of what yngwie plays is quite straight forward a lot of the time and his chord progressions etc are very similar to typical baroque style (since neoclassical is very baroque based anyway usually) but to play to the same speed as him is just impossible. :(

  • the devil sold his soul to him

  • great playing but this dude looks like some lord-gay))

  • @TheUfomatka in fact the music he plays is calles neo classical what means he play music on his guitar what sounds like old music from before today....know what i mean?same with his clothes....be sure hes not gay at all!!

  • He was pretty Handsome back in the day u know xD

  • I>f u have controle of ur fucking pinkytoe, u r either a slentrian gay-winer or have ni menners at all ;) Leave the rest for us bitch ;)

  • @Deadrat665 Fucking great man.....but u missed one....; ego.....do u have enough? ;)

  • /watch?v=uLBAj10GyLM for HD

  • if you press the 1/4 speed option,

    its still pretty fast.

  • 0:11 like a boss

  • @filipi346 the best expression ever

  • @filipi346 ROFL I was thinking exactly the same thing at 0:11 haha.

  • He does what he does and it is good :)

  • is it just me or is that one dirty fretboard?

  • @goudan00 im not sure, but it might be made to look that way....if so, i want one

  • The perfect sound of a Stratocaster!

  • this guy is too good at guitar

  • and no one say a thing about Clapton, and compANY who only uses pentas.but malmsteen uses harmonic minor and diminished so its repetitive...get real...the guy desearves at least respect.

  • for those who make fu and say it's easy to play his stile...always same harmonys and bla bla bla.why are you talking about him if is so lame.Because he just change deeply the way to face guitar playing . looots of players spent hours ,locked in they'rre room practicing ,imitating becaming clones of Yngwie, and than they have the nerve to say its no big deal malmsteens work for rock guitar. There's before and after Malmsteen .If you can play like him is cause he create something tobe followed

  • these videos are all sped up - Yngwie is impressive, you don't need to be dishonest about it...

  • @eVuetv what?

  • @eVuetv Nope. We are just too slow for this.

  • @eVuetv its not sped up, but the song's tempo is faster than the original in this particular video

  • @eVuetv what envy can do ...lol

  • Best of the world

  • Just saw him at Club Nokia!

    Freaken awesome. :)

He played some notes with his teeth haha

  • no offense.....im just hearing the same shit in every vid .... at least play some smoke on the water

  • like a fucking Swedish version of Prince on crack.

  • the good thing about malmsteen is that HE was the first one to play terribly fast. everyone after him which tried to copy him is basically crap

  • @serginietor Everyone? Ha. With the exception of about 30 legends.

  • @serginietor legends on what? Yngwie was the only innovative one. in my opinion, "everyone" else (alexi laiho, dragonforce, michelangelo batio...) just want to be like yngwie and categorise themselves according to their speed, which is terribly stupid. Layla by eric clapton is one of the best songs ever made, and it involves very little speed.

  • Ok, he is amazing, but what is that sound ???

  • @fr06floyd that is music expressed in a high level of technique, which a few people can do. Lots of people can use guitar technques, lots of people can do music with easy and popular techiques. YJM does the hardest one: pure technique to express pure music... he's kind of a channel for music. ...

  • Malmsteen is better than Chuck Noriis hahaha !!!

  • la cancion de preludio obeseivo de rata blanca se parece mucho a esta

  • im crying because i cant do that on my grandpa's guitar

  • Yngwie IS the best guitarist ever. People say his Phrasing sucks or "He No Have Feelingz" but I beg to differ :D

  • eargasim

  • Here is the real problem: little to no rhythmic intrigue. That is why it needs the heavy drums behind it. If you listen to the whole piece, there is VERY little deviation from that "beat." No meandering, just relentless repetition of scale patterns that aren't even new to him. At least when Bach wrote, (for all you people who apparently know a lot about the classical genre) he made his pieces for solo instruments melodically, rhythmically, and improvisation-ally interesting.

  • @ohshammyitspork Funny enough I thought that the extremely rigid rhythm was exactly the point in this piece. Something you occasionally hear in real classical pieces as well. For example in Bach's Toccata and Fugue.

  • @Scalibq Very true, the rhythm is exacting. I was talking more about the lack of variation, like in most fugues, especially the one you mentioned. There are dynamics in tonality, consonance/dissonance, timbre, volume and especially rhythm. I just do not see much dynamics in play here, if the rigorous scales and relentless speed are not complimented by occasional relief then the piece lacks a little intrigue. That's what I was trying to get at. In technique, this is complex.

  • @ohshammyitspork Well, the Toccata is what, some 8 minutes long? This is just a one-minute excerpt of a song.

Aside from that, in a rock/metal context you generally don't have that much room for rhythmic variation. Clearly a solo instrument piece can take a lot more liberties rhythmically, as there is nothing else to be in time with.

I think it is unfair to judge the entire song based on just this excerpt, let alone the entire artist.

  • @Scalibq I was talking about the whole song, I have gone through all 7 and some change minutes off the Trilogy album and the piece as a whole was what I was referring to. Golden Dawn is more of layering (multiple passes, multiple melodies) than technical counterpoint (one pass, multiple melodies) at most parts, but it's basically a negligible difference. And I have listened through most of his albums. I wouldn't have thought of any of this unless I had.

  • @Scalibq I also just want to say that as a guitarist I respect the abilities that he has. He is someone that other people look to as an aspiration for a reason: his fingers are fast and his scales are "colorful" compared to some other genres. But he (in my opinion) does not compose past the main line. Heck, he doesn't even play past the main line most of the time. Listen to his versions of any classical piece then listen to a classical guitarist play it, there is a lot missing.

  • @ohshammyitspork Well, when I watch the videos on your channel, I'm amazed you try to have such opinions on other guitarists at all!

  • @Scalibq Understanding musical theories and methods do not require or even predicate proficiency in performance or even composition. I have more diverse interests and insights into more styles and genres than you could find in my videos, favorites, exc. And, I find it interesting that (in general) people resort to personal attacks when they have nothing of value left to say about the topic. My own skills do not enter into my ability to assess the piece, or an artist.

  • @ohshammyitspork Not so much a personal attack as it is a reality-check: You are neither a proficient guitar player nor composer, yet you expect someone like Malmsteen not only to be a great guitar player, but also to compose EXACTLY the kind of music that you like.

Now if I really wanted to attack you, I could simply go for something like how people who can't play guitar need fo find fault in those who do. If you can't touch Malmsteen's technique, downplay the composition, just taste anyway.

  • @ohshammyitspork I mean, perhaps it's because I've been doing it for a long time, but I stopped trying to please everyone with the music I make. I just do what I like, and if someone else likes it too, good for them. There's no way to make everyone like your music anyway, so why be bothered by the people who don't like it?

I'm sure Malmsteen feels the same way.

  • @Scalibq He does, he's kinda said that before in interviews

  • @ohshammyitspork well, you're not better than him.

  • @Scalibq Also, it is funny that you bring up any kind of Bach, because another side of the neo-classical revolution that has always boggled me is the lack of counterpoint. There is a tremendous opportunity to take the guitar and layer multiple lines and even rhythms on top of each other to create counterpoint, but I have yet to hear any of the big movers and shakers of the neo-classical genre utilize this. Not that they would have to, but it would be pretty awesome if they did.

  • @ohshammyitspork Malmsteen does do that occasionally. Look for his version of the 1812 overture for example. Or the acoustic song Golden Dawn.

  • @Scalibq That should be Overture 1622 obviously.

  • I want his hands

  • @IspGadget you want his penis

  • @marko92pn no, if i were gay i would prefer Jimi Hendrix's penis

  • he fingered a girl once......she didnt die because thats not possible

  • @ArmyRangerish her pussy just caught on fire

  • @ArmyRangerish It would be if it was edward scissor hands doing the fingering.

  • @ArmyRangerish Best person ever

  • Man...that fretboard has been woooooorrrnnn away

  • I heard he fingered a girl... she died after minute....

  • i want that equipment

  • @KillRshred you must be stupid

  • ahh yes, Yngwie malmsteen the pirate.

  • of all the guitars he's had over the years this ones my favorite

  • かっこいい!!!

  • @hokutoryuukakenn 確かに

  • Yngwie sucks... But it feels awesome to play like this :p

  • @omgtkseth correction: you suck :p

  • @bman462 How do you know that? You have never heard anything of what I have composed...

  • @omgtkseth thank god..

  • @omgtkseth you suck

  • @omgtkseth Normally i like to encourage people who upload stuff of themselves on youtube; give them some constructive criticism and whatnot. But when you're an arrogant douche, who has no reason whatsoever to be arrogant, i feel the need to tell them...

You sir, are a wanker :)

  • @ELEPHIN0 Yeah, his progressions are linear and simple, perhaps reminiscent to bach but much less adorned, as well as melody, figures are too repetitive. After listening to him for half a decade and playing like him yuo get the idea that theres nothing special about his composition. Herman Li is more creative than malmsteens abuse of the circle of fourths. Its like the only way he can do something other than 1324 etc

  • 0:09 Feel like a boss!!

  • 0:10...Yeah, it's fucking awesome!

  • The result of too much masturbating

  • I like this Malmsteen a lot.

  • Yngwie is great he is a showman when he plays live he gives you a show

There are many guitarist that play faster but they have no style they just stand there and wait for your applause

  • @tccompaq : Many that play faster?... Did you say FASTER? ;-)))

  • I love those fancy clothes

  • he really looks like the guy from my chemical romance...

  • hmmm. let's be honest, his playing is messy and he doesnt really connect with the music he's playing. if you wish to see a nice soulfull instrumental piece then i suggest you check out this vid of my playing at /watch?v=NIFblN5hgUs&feature=related

  • @KillRshred that vid. you suggested is the worst youtube video i've ever seen...im gonna regret this my whole life.....

  • 0:11 : put that thing on bitch

  • too slow Rofl

  • Happy 48th Birthday Yngwie !

  • Damn, 48? That fucker's getting old.

  • @LTDGuitars420 lol hes in his late 50's now...

  • @NeoMetalx nah he was born in '63, a year younger than my dad who is 49.

  • @alpha1shadow I meant early btw. I'll take your word for it lol..

  • @NeoMetalx oh okay. lol. yeah that one word changes the whole thing. lmao.

  • Sounds Baroque.

  • Too fast :D

  • One of the most difficult solos

  • @zeekfharkha "Negative space"? I know about the photography deal, but could you elaborate on that?

  • tiru man kidal

  • I have this tutorial video. Got it from my guitar teacher. It really helps to learn some of the shit from the video. As clicheed as it is, it's really helpful

  • 82 people are jealous because they can't play this.

  • 82 people don't know what is a master !!!

  • i dnt know how ppl can dislike this video, mother fuckers pbly dnt know what instrument hes playing

  • Por mucho el mejor

  • He plays way too slow, he really needs to speed it up...lol

  • Genius!

  • WTF is that fingerboard?

  • @pezozy123 A heavily worn maple thats been scollaped to DEATH.

  • He was such a clean player back in the day. Nowadays he is a bit sloppy.

  • @ToastedCigar As far as clean goes this is pretty dirty

  • @RockstarDaniel are u dumb this is like clean as hell dude....his picking is flawless lol

  • @SuperMattarr Youve never played cleanly or known what playing cleanly is. Hes playing this very well, but thre is tons of dirt especially from 0:35 to 0:43

  • @RockstarDaniel i dont hear any dirt i think throughout the song i heard one mistake, and thts trying to hear a mistake ur ears are off or something, hes pretty much flawless.

  • @SuperMattarr Once again you have no understanding about clean playing and much less about flawless playing

  • Not to many people with scalloped finger boards like Yngwie.

  • インギーのテク、最高潮の頃ですね。

  • ohh myy fuckiing god

    I love MALMSTEEN :D

  • is the captin chrunch atire neccesary to shred like this? lol

  • @METALLICA6547 very neccesary!

  • sometimes i tink that i proununce his name wrong

  • @lugabiel = ienguhwee

  • Don't think Yngwie wasn't giving this one much effort... Gods that was sloppy from :32 to :40.

  • unleash the fockin fury

  • Strangely enough, I find this song to be one of his easiest pieces to play, much easier than far beyond the sun, blitzkrieg or molto arpeggiosa...

  • 78 people quit guitar after watching this.

  • 78 people are now converts to Justin Bieber fans :P

  • He's the BEST!

  • 77 people think he has an unfair advantage because he's using a magical fender strat baptized in a unicorn waterfall

  • My favorite Yngwie song

  • YNGVIE MALMSTENNNNNNNNNN.

  • i think i just wet my pants..

  • ORGASM......!!!

    BRRRRRR......

    FUCK YEAH>...

  • ah ... that IS a maple fretboard, haha

  • awesome!!!

  • that is my favourite yngwie guitar it sound the best of all times the doc is ok and all but that one is magic

  • I can barely pronounce his name, let alone kick as much ass as he does.

  • :30 wow he messed up for once.

  • @dylankrolick in all fairness he was adjusting the position of his guitar

  • 0:11 Like a boss.

  • @radocool1 he's the boss! :)

  • He is sloppy on this example. Maybe he's tired?

  • @luminositymusic Yngwie tends to try to play at too high a tempo live. The result is sloppiness, and the impression that he's trying to keep up with the song. I think he's an incredible guitarist, but sets the bar too high a lot. Edward van Halen, on the other hand, usually plays to a tempo that he can easily meet and/or exceed. The result is the impression that the song is trying to keep up with him.

  • He fail at change the pick, but he play as well like he do these change.

  • practice arpeggios and learn the modes and scales, and you could be yngwie.

  • @ironman1919 aha right away

  • @ironman1919 nope. that wont work ether.

  • @ironman1919 you could be "sound" like Yngwie....but nobody will be Yngwie (on music)...he´s the master and the pionner.

    you like it or not.

    \m/

  • @ironman1919

sounds so easy, but it isn't -.-

  • @ironman1919 don't forget legato and string skipping

  • @ironman1919 AND GET FAT

  • @ironman1919 and develop flawless technique and blisteringly fast alternate picking and sweeping. and have a sick vibrato.

  • @ironman1919 many ppl try to, U heard anyone with his tone?

  • @raffefrank I agree, I always say he sounds so classical when he plays, kind of how you would imagine Bach tosound like if he picked up a strat :D Where as other generic shredders have a very metal hollow sound :\

  • @ironman1919 gl with the dexterity

  • @ironman1919 Good luck

  • Comment removed

  • @ironman1919 ull even get to be more creative to create ur own music =D

  • @ironman1919 + Feeling =)

  • @ironman1919 no man you can't, he invented this.

  • @clinicmfc he invented Classical music? Good game.

  • @ironman1919 that's true...

  • @ironman1919 no you won't, cos he started it

  • @Chunk014 if you think yngwie started this, youre dumbbbb. this style goes all the way back with classical composers, and thats what he bases his music off of. he didnt create guitar scales or modes either, those have been around before he was even alive. N00B.

  • @ironman1919 stop being a fucking smartarse.. what i meant was he's an innovator and revived neoclassical music and took a fresh/new/modern approach to it - that's why you cant just have another yngwie. fuck.. shoulda just said that in the first place.

  • @Chunk014 loll there ya goo.

  • @ironman1919 also beat your wife and snort lots of coke, fuck yeah :P

  • @ironman1919

    hahahah u want? eh?

    u think it's easy?

when u know scale and arpeggios who picking the strings? a battery drill? dumbass!
