I'm just wondering, and its not certain, but if i got minecraft full version not illegally downloaded so actually purchased you know gotten the proper way and made a pvp server where u get say 30 mins to build a defensive area then defend it against others would any1 be interested? (i wanna know coz i only thing i want to do really is have a server and i want people on it and i dont wanna waste money on minecraft if no1 will join the server so just reply if u think u would, this is a maybe btw)

If you're going to make a trench, line it with obsidian, bookworm is right, I have a video on my profile of how easy it is to tunnel under and tnt a trench!

-For trenches i would really do this but only if theres no trees around and i can't do anything beside doing this

-For bunker you need a door instead because monsters know how to jump and get into the hole + spider who can go though 2 bricks hole...

-Sandbag idea is very good tho (never thought of putting a slab so they can't climb barricade and i can shoot them)

Sorry man, but these are useless in SMP. If you want a good defensive structure, try an obsidian bunker with tunnels leading all around the map. It might take a while, but it's really fun sneaking around the map Viet-Kong style. Pretty decent vid, though

Man, i thought these would be quick and FOOLPROOF, like bookworm and molewizard said. I once made an obisidian bunker which was designed for anti-mob, the design was, I build a bunker as normal, but then I add the functionality of the Adv. Trench, making skeletons not able to shoot in, after that, there was a water moat in around the bunker, around the water moat, there were cacti (or cactuses, whatever), near the cacti there was lava, around the lava, there were holes leading to my mob grinder.

Well I think this wouldn't be very helpful in general because there's multiplayer where you can break in and single player where the mobs are stupid enough to avoid the stuff... I use more.... Simple traps... Such as a two-deep hole all around your house, effectively stopping most mobs... Two wide for spiders :D

I do a three deep trench with a separate storage. A good idea is to build a pressure plate that sets enemies on fire if they enter the trench.
