CNN Reports Coast Guard Training Exercise on Potomac River

Any journalist with any lick of sense knows not to report on information you've gathered off the scanner. Period. I'm really disappointed in CNN's decision to put that on the air.

CNN misses the facts yet again. In 1994, CNN reported a "helicopter from Ft. Bragg NC crashes while attempting a rescue on the Haw River." At the time, I was stationed at Bragg, just down the street from an air evacuation company (57th air ambulance) NO SUCH CRASH EVER HAPPENED. I called CNN HQ in Atlanta, I was transferred, three times, to the 'news editor's desk.' She insisted I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS WRONG.

The MSM does this kind of thing all the time. When their not ignoring REAL stories, they're putting out alarmist nonsense, twisting and spinning stories to fit the leftist agenda or perpetrating outright hoaxes. They're an absolute joke, and the NYT is the worst culprit.

CNN should learn a lesson from this...they missed out on the most basic aspect of decent journalism....double-check your source. And they have the audacity to blame to Coast Guard? They were just listening to their police tuner and thought an exercise was a real security alert, on 9/11. CNN, learn you lesson or you could become Fox News!!!

lol agreed, CNN acutually said that they jumped the gun... then exactly after that started to try and blame the Coast guard...wtf....Reporters are stupid and thats why....the CG is not gonna tell them everytime they do a Drill....Thats stupid

they did double-check..twice the Coast Guard told them their was no exercise. This was cover for a failed assassination attempt. The timing was wrong, or some aspect failed. The Coast Guard probably didn't even know why it was ordered.
