the more delegates that a candidate has, the more votes he or she will have at the democratic convention this summer. the delegates essentially will vote for the candidate that they represent at the convention. it works like the electoral college; the nominee of the democratic party will be the one who has the most votes from the delegates.

When Slavery ended, there was no plan by the government to integrate blacks into American society, those blacks who were slaves for 100s of years were suddenly told that they were free, they didn't have anything, they didn't give them land to harvest, they weren't allowed to go to school at first, there was nothing for them to do.

I agree that there are major potential problems with the fed, but I don't know how to solve them, and I think eliminating the fed would do more bad than good.

the more delegates that a candidate has, the more votes he or she will have at the democratic convention this summer. the delegates essentially will vote for the candidate that they represent at the convention. it works like the electoral college; the nominee of the democratic party will be the one who has the most votes from the delegates.

When you look at the polls, the baby boomers, Latin and Asian mostly vote for her. Baby Boomer's because they are set in their way. A good majority of the Latin and Asian they base it on race...it's sad but it's the truth, not for all but a good amount. When you look at the exit polls it's a huge amount that support her. In a Nevada interview one latin guy was trying to explain why he or his friends wont vote, and he wanted to say race but couldn't so he had no reason why he didnt want to vote.

Again, if you wish to debate this issue you need to try not to be bias, try to be neutral and understanding. When Slavery ended, there was no plan by the government to integrate blacks into American society, those blacks who were slaves for 100s of years were suddenly told that they were free, they didn't have anything, they didn't give them land to harvest, they weren't allowed to go to school at first, there was nothing for them to do.

When Europeans came to America ,the government distributed land to them, they were allowed to be Americans, that wasn't the case for blacks. Instead they had the KKK, the JIM CROLL law and so so.Few blacks had access to education, most either had to become housekeeper of their former masters, or move to rural areas to work in factories. Obama's church is one of those that take care of their rights and that of their believed "calling of Africa" where they believe they need to "save" people there. I've never heard of a church such as that. A VERY basic Biblical principle is to spread the gospel to 'everyone'. So are you seriously saying that a "white only" church...say in South Carolina...with a rebel flag waving, would be acceptable to most? I think not. And that is a very fair comparison to Obama's church w/being proud of "heritage".

Rebel? Heard of the Confederate flag? That is much nearer to a rebel causes. And it what way is Obama's Church a rebel one? People interpret the Bible differently and it is their business to do so. If there is a Church in South Carolina with that only accepts Swedish, so be it. There already are French ones in New Orleans...

I was comparing to a church that promoted "white power". It would not be tolerated & you know it. Al Sharpton & his posse would be all over that. You have lost this argument.

I understand that there are arguments against it, but I can't begin to understand yours. Yes, i think Bernanke is full of shit a lot of the time, and that he succumbs media and political pressure, but the markets would completely crash if the fed were dismantled.

i'm arguing against the fed because of lack of transparency and lack of oversight. you really feel comfortable with a secretive group determining the financial future of your country? don't you think there should be some substance behind currency? how do you feel about your income tax not being appropriated? where do you think it goes?

Most of those arguments are a little more sound than previous, other than your last question. The fed has nothing to do with income taxes.
Also, I know, it is worrisome, their lack of oversight. At the same time,however, they need autonomy to make important, unbiased decisions. Granted the decisions sometimes are tinged with bias.

um, and on the FEDERAL income tax. the FEDERAL income tax was created to pay off the interest the gov't owes on the money they have borrowed from the FED. that's why it is not appropriated- so you can't see where it goes. Just keep printing that money boys!

I'm sorry man, but tax is in the constitution. Although the gov't isn't using a lot of the tax money for legite purposes, to say that the gov't needs no tax is ridiculous.

If the Fed was constantly getting investigated, it would surely succumb to major political pressure, and make political decisions (ie income tax.. no one will make flat income tax, everyone wants cuts at top or bottom). It would be a catastrophe for a "growth" political debate... this country doesn't really know much about econ. .

I agree that there are major potential problems with the fed, but I don't know how to solve them, and I think eliminating the fed would do more bad than good.
Please don't take this is a condescending way, but if you have not, and you are in college, you should take a few economics classes. If you have a good professor, he'll introduce you to multiple arguments and understandings regarding monetary policy.
