From what I can see ... ISAF is an international effort, so there are other countries which equip their soldiers with the AK platform. Private security contractors also may use the AK due to the region itself. The middle east is a region where the AK system is dominant. Plus, the AK platform generally works in all environments and conditions. The ammo is readily available and they're very powerful (the 7.62x39 anyways) at close ranges when you need power through walls, bricks, etc.

@TheAwp45 Really? cuz i see ACU uniforms, which is army, desert MARPAT, which is the U.S. Marine Corps, and Multicam, which has been introduced to U.S. Army Soldiers in Afghanistan (i don't know if other countries use it tho) and M16 Assault Rifles, which is the standard issue weapon of U.S. Troops. not saying that there are no Macedonian and French Troops, but there are clearly also U.S. personel.

I just wanted to note that most american troops carry AK-47s and not their standard issued M16s.If US realy wants to win the wars they are getting into they should start by providing their troops with more reliable and effective equipment.Still it will be hard to win these wars because they are fighting fanatics but they will have a fighting chance.My oppinion is that if u realy want to win the Afganistan war u have to feed well the local population.Hungry peope are easily recriuted.

In finghts with insurjents a bigger calliber weapon is required in order to kill from the first shot (or behing a brick wall).That was my point.

3) I have used both M-16 (5.52) and an HK-G3 (7.62mm) and i can tell u the 7.62mm has a lot more power and range.
