It's the 24th and still no power here. (federal way)
luckily I'm pretty well prepared .... I do miss my hot shower though!
oddly I have cable and internet... got the generator running the freezers and a couple heaters intermittently. Probably not getting power back till Thursday (a full week) :(
A perfect example for all of them knuckle heads out there that don't realize why it's important to have prepped goods at home. I hope that this too will wake up folks. This ain't no joke, if it's not a iced winter storm it could be a black out from a storm. Thanks for showing...
@minbound Yeah, we're good. We were making calls to all our friends and fam today that we could think of to offer a place to get out of the cold and dark. Thanks for stoppin by Min.
Fair the well. I went through it in '09. Had 21 days without power and holes in my roof from trees falling on them. Ice is unique in that as destructive as it is it is simultaneously beautyful. Take care and let the warm up do the work for you. Keep your storm drains open and your head covered!
@thewolfsong We were hoping that this would encourage people to step up there prepping where possible. Things went from fun to dangerous in a matter of hours. I can imagine there were no generators, snow shovels, or propane at the hardware stores. And based on the report from our friends who were unfortunate enough to wander into the grocery store, people were clearing shelves of just about everything.
@PrepPro2717 living in alaska i can see that kind of ice storm hitting us and has but not as bad (the closest help we would have is 8 hrs away/1 hr away if they are able to fly in to fairbasks). And we would be in a world of hurt if all the stores where cleaned out like the stores in the town your friends live in
Here in Darrington we are under about 2 1/2 feet. Power goes down every hour so far...yet for the most part the power is on. Nice to be a prepper and not have to go to the store and be completely warm no matter the situation.
Ya know, what really chaps my hide is how Steve Pool and the other local forecasters ALWAYS downgrade the potential of snow in our area. They do this because so many people dislike the snow. So in order to keep thier ratings up, they always make the snow situations to look like non issues....that is until people start dieing. Kinda pisses me off. I love the snow...the challenge,,,etc. It really is a disservice to everyone when these kind of games are played with peoples lives. Sorry for the rant
Had a huge ice storm here, in Missouri, several years ago. Shut things down for 6-7 days. That's why I have food put back, alternative heat, and two generators. Country boys survive.
2 weeks before Christmas '08 we got hit with an ice storm over night. Knocked out power for us in the boonies for 8 days. I was not a prepper then and decided right then I would be. It is amazing how LOUD total silence is, when all you hear is the breaking of the limbs and trees.
the trees that don't break can still be good that is how we save the orange trees down here in florida we cover them in ice just like you got there,i would hold off cutting! good luck
Nice to hear another prepper's account of the recent events. Power went out here in south king for about 12 hours. I've been holding off starting up the generator, I don't like showing my trump card if I don't need to. But with all the down trees, I won't be surprised if the power goes out again. Otherwise, we're completely comfortable. I can't say the same for others.

Gads! It looks like my front yard. I lost the top out of my Chinese Cherry-Plum tree from the weight of ice. I hope to save it . I'm in P-S area too.

Great Vid PrepPro2717. South King County isn't much better. Luckily we don't have any trees near the house or power lines. :) Stay Safe!
