  • Copy tune of "OH MY DARLING CLEMENTINE" ..... cant our bollywood do something original

  • My Pranam to the Legends.......it touches you and nowdays OMG...

  • I was born in the U.S, but raised in Bombay for 12 years. I enjoyed every single day of my life there, even though Bombay is not like what this song portrays, I am still proud of MY Bombay. I love my Bombay and this song makes me miss it even more. Proud of being from BOMBAY!

  • Even the crowds on marine drive looked more civilized back them.. :D

  • population of bombay was 34 lacs, now it has crossed 1 crore, 65 lacs

  • Bombay sounds so much better than Mumbai

  • As man in his 30s, I wish if I were born in the 40s and the 50s. Yes, we did not have radio, tv internet still the life was a hell lot better than what is there today.

  • being a Chinese from india, i always listened to this song, and always wanted to hear it again when my casset got destroyed. thank you for whoever uploaded this,

  • please don't disgrace those legends by comparing to present music makers...they were original and introduced beautiful lyrics and music...immortals....nowadays forget it.....few can be mention for today...but legends are legends.....GOD BLESS THEM....we enjoy their music...when i am depress i listen to these songs .....indeed india is the most luckiest country .....from music to history and shrines ...they have it all....indian people are also very polite and well manner,,,,,

  • just to clear everybody here... those songs were all folk songs all under public domain anybody could use them and they all sample music now and then.

  • @SahilBol they may not have a copyright for that , but still an original tune and a tune copied from a mexican folk song are different things

  • Listen the song Oh my darling sung by Freddy Quinn.

  • The music of this song is wonderful but some what influenced by Oh My Darling Clementine an American western folk ballad usually credited to Percy Montrose 1884

  • Thank god it was Bombay ... not Mumbai!

  • Dont understand why some people just waste their lives finding out who copied which song.

Why dont you just enjoy the song as it is.

  • I wonder the percentage of 'original' Hindi songs in Bollywood. So many classics have been just copied..Even 'Hum honge kaamyab' is plagiarized....

  • This is a plagiarized song..The original song is My darling Clementine...

  • i love this ssong

  • best song ever

    which movie is this

  • best song ever

  • Bombay Meri Jaan i love you

  • frm where cn i gt this?

  • love u mumbai

  • rafi sahab sug many good song for jony walker, this is one of them,

  • bombay is the best metro in india....far more better than delhi & totaly uncompareable to kolkata & others which r totaly fucked up

  • @MultiShark85 this is not sumthing to proud of ..... as an indian....its totally unfortunate for india...tht there r very few ...i think just delhi n bombay r the proper metros.......i wish we cud hav more......i m frm delhi n live in UK....here a small town is much advanced than our other metro cities.....when will we achieve tht?

  • @kitutina

When corruption ends! But I don't think its possible to be "modern" in comparison to the westerns simply because you can never become a developed country when 500 million plus people are starving in the country :( (statistics given by the Indian government itself).

  • very good song

  • Bombay is a nice place to be in if you've never lived anywhere else. This song itself says there is no love and humanity to be found in the city, idk why people are proud of that.

  • only the lyrics are original and actually good

tune is a clean copy from 'Oh my darling Clementine'

    feel sorry for its lovers

  • @coolgomzicj damn never knew dat...dis 1 is better though

  • nice

  • I love this song, and I live in the United States.

  • मी मुंबई रोचक'स

    मुंबई मी जनम लेके..इ अं वेरी प्रोउद..!! :)

i jus love my Mumbai :)

  • dirty fuckin city/shit and pis and stink all over/ thank god i left the shit place 40 yrs AGO

  • 1956-1990 - 1:09 insaan ka nahin kahin naamonnisaan (There's not a trace of humanity in this bustling city)

2000-xxxxx har jagah insaan hi insaan

  • Ab mumbai kitna change ho gaya hai yaar.

  • @omakron8 ...

  • Oh My Darling Clementine (1946)

  • Those double decker buses ! The fifties were great !

  • nice

  • @sameerjagtap82 yes it is very nice

  • Just love this city....my fav place in bombay is marine drive......n i m gona call it bombay no matter what anyone thinks....

  • This is so true lyrics song, when i started living in bombay i felt like same. But u should change title name to Mumbai , dont u know about thackereys....lol

  • I LOVE MUMBAI......M REALLY PROUD TO BE A MUMBAIKAR....MUMBAI ROXX!!!!

  • look at how beautiful bombay was! :P We should work towards restoring it and not making it a shanghai? I bet shanghai isn't as nearly beautiful a city as old bombay!

  • Has Raj Thackeray already asked the the lyrics to be changed from Bombay to Mumbai in this song? If he hasn't , then probably thank god he hasnt seen this song!

  • @resist4resist No need of bringing politics...

any was bombay (name given by Portuguese which means good bay )

and Mumbai - Based on Name of Godess MubaDevi Muba- aai(Mother in Marathi) an Indian name.... so whats the problem if we insist on Mumbai

  • The song is amazing..it portrays true spirit of Mumbai (then known as Bombay)...and Johny Walker makes it amazingly memorable in his style... Jai Maharashtra!!

  • Hail Bombay! Awesome!

  • THIS IS EXACTLY THE IMPRESSION I GOT when I visted Bombay in dec 1955 as a final year student on engineering tour

55 years later it is a man made hell and kamathipura has been tripled

I wrote to rajiv Gandhi to clear the bandra kurla marsh land and locate a common terminus there for both central and western railways, releasing THE 4 sion-vt tracks and 4 BANDRA-CHURCH GATE TRACKS EXCLUSIVELY FOR SUBURBAN TRAFFIC. SION BRIDGE ALONE KILLED 5000 NEWCOMERS TO CITY WHO JUTTED THEIR NECKS OUT

  • CLASSIC BOLLYWOOD GOLDEN ERA

  • very sweet song & wonderful composition of the gr8 o p nayyar.heavnly sweet voice of rafi sahib. xlnt orchestra esp the mouth organ & mind blowing rythm. johny walker in the frame very talented & kumkum so btiful. thanx 4 the gr8 upload a gr8 nostalgia of 50s.

  • this the song for aamchi mumbai......i loooove this song ......

  • zanzibarbar - r u reaaly from unguja

  • This guy is great..wat a expression!!

  • Proud to be an indian from the bombay city!!!

  • @chiragchitroda proud of how just 33% of ppl turnout for voting ? or how people do not care about whats happening with mumbai city because of careless Govt administration.

  • @chiragchitroda well said man...bombay ho ya mumbai...we jus rock!!!!!!!

  • Though not a Hindi movie fan, this was pure nostalgia; Mumbai, before its innocence was lost.

  • Electric Double Decker Trams are one of the things that Mumbai has lost soon after filming of this movie. I remember having had a memorable ride in one of of those as a small kid. At least people can now have a glimpse of those in this song. Ah, to think that this pollution free mode of transport has been replaced by smoke filling buses.

  • Johnny Walker, what a comedian, I didn't know he named after the Scotch whiskey back then in 1960s when I was a kid, this guy really got me laughing out of my breath.

  • Kumkum is right - No dada giri in Bomaby.

  • Dude...I know the Clementine song...the resemblance is there...but not blatant...still never mind...I love this song...

  • i love bombay mumbai my favourite city its not changed one bit

  • superb SONG..... can listen to it again and again..njoying it everytime

  • Haha...me too! I've listened to this song 7 times today itself! =)

  • am not an indian but not tired at all to listen again and again

  • BOmbay is always better than Mumbai..

    Mumbai is lame name

  • mumbai was always better when it wan "bombay" or "bumbai".

Really this song brings very pleasant old days,

As a kid I used to bully my cousins to go to churchgate so that I could sit in double bus.

And people always vacated front sit of upper half for me.Lol

    Great memories... Gone...

  • brings back so many memories of my Hindi film watching days in the 50's Phillip McFarland

  • BOMBAI mere JAAN

  • adityabose26, made a poo-poo :)

Copy !!! Nevertheless, it's not bad to copy the best.

  • I'm from Chennai but I really enjoy this song, my dad saw this movie as a kid and did not understand the lyrics too much lol but since I know Hindi I really understand this. Yeah Hai Bombay sab Hindustaniyon ka jaan.

  • Well Said mate...Yeh Mumbai sabhi indians ka hein meri jaan :-)

  • you want to see real gold , this is. jab bhi mera dil udas hota hai main is song ko sun kai fresh ho jata hu.

    98102 33213

  • Golden diamond, if I may call it that!

  • aye hai

    mast gana hai bhai

  • Nice song. I am looking for a song "fir wahee dard hai fir wahee zigar

fir wahee shaam hai fir wahee safar.........

haathi naikal gayaa dum reh gayee magar

  • LOVE IT : ) hehaha

  • the lyrics is really, but sadly music was copied by the 1950's anu malik. this is a traditional american song "Oh my darling clamentine".

"Jara hat ke, jara bachch ke yeh hai copy-istan!"

  • Surely Suvodip, you flatter urself with ur feigned intellect.

This song does sound similar but the inflexion points are very different. If you were so able, I would have asked you to do a few more comparisons between songs (both english and otherwise) & appreciate the difference urself.

But alas! From one bong to another, please restrain urself from imparting such wisdom in the future without a complete understanding of the nuances & I might just stop myself from whooping ur sorry ass. Thanks.

  • Sorry aditya, here you're the one who's looking like a dork. The guy above just said that this was a variation of that "Oh my darling" piece. and no matter what kind of terminology you use, there's no denying that the tune was copied. And yes, its atleast not copied note by note like bollywood does these days, Nevertheless, the resemblance is uncanny.

  • Well, ofcourse I am a layman and I cant understand terms such as "inflexion" points etcs. But then the tune resembles the famous western songs. AnywaysI am not imparting wisdom here, if you come to the comments section of youtube to get wisdom, I suggest you change your approach. I merely commented, and I am sure of the resemblance. By the way I dontknow which version of "clementine" you have compared it, there are many versions. And about whooping my ass, typical, barking from distance.

  • Dude, did you just call OP Nayyar the 1950s Anu Malik? You have some nerve!

  • Dude, the lyrics are just great, just that the melody was 'inspired' heavily by the song.

  • This tune is definitely copied from the English song Oh My Darling Clemintine (whichever version but the closest is the Connie Francis version of that era).

  • may be

  • ,many songs are copied from the classical western reportoire and also pop songs...this one...a little bit of a stretch to say, it is a copy of "my darling clementine"

  • @JoyDevivre

This tune has been plagiarized....this is not an original tune...Clementine's tune this is

  • @KINGMJ1990 right

  • @JoyDevivre whoever it maybe dude!

but he's done JUST what anu malik does best.. ripped off someone else's work..

  • @awesomezaid Just give one Example .....if U can?

  • @JoyDevivre

bro only a retard can say such things and you will find millions like them here dont bother just enjoy the song :))))

  • @JoyDevivre

Hasn't this tune been copied...then why not call him the anu malik of the 50's....lol....

  • @JoyDevivre LOLL...yee hes an idiot...anu malik is possibly the worst music producer ever...

  • @JoyDevivre

Because OP Nayar lifted it blatantly from "My darling Clementine", the same thing that Anu is famous for!!

  • @drpranavsingh

I've heard that Gurudutt gave the original English record to OP & forced him to make an indianised copy!

  • @neenajani Sadly, you are right. Old indian musicians did lift tunes. Though very rarely. But they certainly were not bathed in milk.

  • @JoyDevivre - Sir I believe its not having some nerve... its sheer stupidity and utter ignorance. You can just compare the great OP to Anu Malik.

  • its superb video and always saying keep mumbai on top

  • yeh hai dilli meri jaan.

  • awesome-est

  • What's the literal meaning of this song? This is my Bombay, my love?

  • yup!

Ai Dil Hai Aasan jeena yahan. Yeh Hai Bombay, Yeh Hai Bombay, Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan.

    Bombay rocks....

  • Sorry the Movies name was "Oh My Darling Clementine"

  • Anjaan1971, you say this song was 'stolen'. You mention the movie "Oh My Darling Clementine".. perhaps you mean the song with the same name.

Although there is some occasional similarity, "Ye Hai Bombay Mere Jaan" is, overall, quite different.

Search wikipedia for "Oh My Darling, Clementine", and you will find that the Hollywood song 'originated' from a 19th century Mexican ballad.

If you can provide any other, more specific information, I'd like to check further, (just out of curiosity).

  • @ peterxau just search on the youtube by the name of Oh My Darling, Clementine, i hope you will get all info -thank you

  • Yeah this is the song stolen from "Hollywood" they made this song 1939 Tittle "Clementine"

  • Bombay/Mumbai today is so different. In those days it was relatively OK to live there.

  • who are the isngers of this song

  • mohammed rafi..

  • released in 1956

  • Mohd. Rafi and Geeta Dutt

  • o my darling clementine :D

  • Beautiful song..just love it

  • Wow! 4 stanzas to this song! Ask foolish Himesh to compose a meaningful song with 4 stanzas. He will need a lifetime to do it.

  • I admit...

  • This is one of the immortal songs from the industry!

    Beautiful!

  • a lovely songof old times

  • Ah those were the days..

  • Beautiful tune.

  • Thank you for posting this video back on Youtube. I missed it. Great song which makes one happy and feel proud to be an Indian. Notwithstanding the meaning of the lyrics.
