@Bellyflops2Actually he wasn't making fun of them.... John had a fear of people with diseases such as those because as a child he thought that they were monsters, and it was never really explained to him that they had a disease. Of course as he got older he learned, but that childhood fear stuck with him his whole life. He didn't have a probably with handicapped people at all, what he was basically getting over his fear, and this is how he did it.
