I am Russian too. I lived in orphanage, it was long time ago during Soviet time. We were clothed, fed, sheltered and educated. No sex, drugs or cruelty. Most of us grew up as a normal citizens. My friend Larisa lives in UK. She is a lawyer. I live In US and have a master degree. It was better treatment of kids back then. I am not nostalgic of the Soviet system, but the system worked, at least for us.
@Lucrezia37 The bare minimum amount of care was of course much better in soviet times. I didn't grow up in soviet times, however. Once I make some money from my business I'm going to start a program that teaches orphans high paying professions like watch making, certain types of engineering, programming, and so on. At the very least, loan money for a sewing machine and give them contacts for fabric so they can make a living.
i had a friend from russia she was adopted and now lives in london.. she came to america for camp and family (grandparents of her foster family) she said they would beat u with wooden blocks if u talked and she was basicly abused
when I'm older, i want to adopt 3 kids from Russia. I'm russian, so, i will be able to communicate with them, and Ive always wanted to adopt :D

I was born in Detsky dom #11. I loved living in Russian orphanage and would love to check out my orphanage again and relearn my language...

Heart breaking, being that little girl, knowing that there is a better life somewhere and she is not wanted.
