  • WOW!! I came across a video from leesha from xparkage and she recommends the company.. she even provided the link for an etsy store.. I looked them up to buy the stack leesha shows... when I went to Google I found this video.. and im like OMG :O Thank God, I came across this video, and i couldnt find a sales page for them LOL. Sounds like a pain!!!

  • @SolarEyes86 Unfortunately they're back, lol. According to one of the people Jen still makes the products but she's no longer in charge of sending anything due to all that drama. They have other people.

  • @myzjellybelly Yeah I know.. I keep on getting reviews on my "new videos" from subscriptions.. Im actually quite temped to buy the original rainbow stack... If they are back maybe they are doing things the right way now... I REALLY want the rainbow stack.. but im so indecisive.. I think ppl deserve a second chance sometimes.. and I might just buy from them and see what happens..

  • @SolarEyes86 Yeah I'm tempted too. The colors look so pretty. Hopefully over the course of 1-2 years plus they've gotten their shit together. I would buy from them just to see if everything came okay etc. The people I've seen do reviews got the products for free I'd need to see a couple people actually purchase from them help my decision.

  • @peaceoutay Not sure if you figured this out in the month since you commented, but over a year ago (now), a small makeup company known as Calypso Minerals stopped shipping their products, and failed to refund people's money. Because the owner had built up a pretty good rapport with the various makeup gurus on youtube, many people went looking to the gurus looking for answers, as the company owner gave no answers. Calypso Minerals seems to be out of operation now.

  • this is exactly why I only ever order from companies that are years well known and praised and have a good reputation, not from newbie "companies" I mean everyone look what happened with the whole Bitchslap cosmetics thing... barry m, urban decay are the way to go..

  • I had placed an order with Calypso, no items arrived. I contacted her and she said she would resend........................­......still nothing. So I contacted her again, she she said would refund. I had to chase her up for the refund and eventually got it but felt really pissed at the fact I had to chase her for it.

  • Wow, looks like a lot of people got screwed over by jen. To tell you the truth, at first I did get a little pissed at few gurus for backing up Calypso in the first place, but I saw through. I can understand that people are angry though. However, you are very straight forward and you actually apologized for something that the Calypso scammer started and caused. Other gurus, did not bother stating anythign at all, probably in fear of a backlash. You are brave in doing this.

  • I had been talking to her about getting samples and prices, and when I was finally going to do official business with her she simply stopped talking to me through the messages. I was a little pissed, but then I thought that my one message out of probably a bunch may have just gotten lost, and I just had bad luck. And then not long after she dissapeared. I had started following her on twitter because I was excited to to business with her and .like we've said, she just dissapeard.

  • I was actually just looking up Calypso minerals so I'm glad I came across this. I seriously admire your honesty and its terrible that so many people got ripped off. I had seen some looks and swatches using the products so it was a bit of a shock she would just bail on her company. Personal issues or not, if you plan on running a business you need to do your job and if you can't, give them back their money. There's no excuse.

  • i ordered after seeing so many guru's promote the product. I had a hella time getting the products...i called and bothered jen for weeks until finally she sent em out. And it ended up being the wrong colors and products. But i will say that dispite all of the trouble, the products are incredible. Sorry ur dealing with all of the bs...guess i should be glad i got what i got. And funny u say that cuz she kept saying her kids were sick and giving me all sorts of personal "oh poor me" excuses.

  • Jen is now into day 16 of her 14 day guarantee that all will be recieving product and refunds. Obviously the product will need time to ship, but the refunds are clicks of a keyboard. She contacted me saying I was going to get a refund from an Anita Williams. Never did, shocking huh?That was three days ago. She's back to not answering me. Anyone had any luck with liar?

  • If you order with your credit card and don't get your stuff just dispute it and the credit card company will refund your money and go after the seller. Always buy things with a credit card this way your ass is covered. If you get screwed over it's your own fault and shouldn't take it out on a guru. Shop smart.

  • Cora - you should not feel bad at all. When i placed my order in october, i felt a little uncomfortable and felt that something shady was going on. I tried contacting Jen several times with no reply, and had kinda forgotten about it during the holidays until I saw this video tonight. But now I will definitely be doing something about it. You are awesome and I will continue to watch your videos and I don't feel your responsible in any way.

  • IF any of you purchased Calypso Minerals through ETSY ( not sure if this was already said) contact them ASAP they will do an investigation if you did not receive your items or refund. I finally got a response back from this just now. You have to fill out a NON delivery Report with them. Hope this helps. I did notice on her site that she is saying to give her a chance to fix it thats what it says on her blog anyhow GOOD LUCK

  • I am pissed she even has to make this video apologizing. She could've ignored this whole situation but she chose to address it. How is it her fault if something she reviewed people liked? How was she supposed to know that others would be ripped off? Is she supposed to never review anything again? People need to stop shifting the blame. We are lucky to have Cora because she gives honest reviews and shows us products that many wouldn't even know of if it weren't for her.

  • This is my first ever comment on any videos and have been a subscriber for quite a while. Anytime that any person reviews, recommends, or passes judgement on a product, it is at the discretion of the consumer whether to move forward and purchase a product, and you or any other guru would never, nor could ever force someone to buy something.

    This should have no impact on you, or your popularity, and if people are blaming you for what has happened, they need to lay blame correctly at the owner.

We gave her our money (and her stuff wasn't super expensice, but it wasn't cheap) and she didnt send product. This is called THEFT. IT IS AGAINT THE LAW.   • I totally appreciate your honesty. If I felt like you were just being rude, I would have simply deleted the comment. I was letting you know that I'm hurt. That's how I feel. Ultimately, this situation screwed over everyone. I some what recognize your user name,and I'm fairly sure I've spoken to you one way or the other in the past. I'm sorry if you feel that I'm only responding to negativity.

  • Since there is no way for anyone to forsee the future, what do YOU think would be a good way to go forward with reviewing products? If you were i my place, what would you do? Never up-talk anything/cease doing reviews all together? That would pretty much mean not even mentioning the products I use in my tutorials, since just by using something, other people might get the idea to buy it. I would honestly love to know what one of my viewers would do in my shoes.

  • That is a large part of the reason I watch; to see new or under the radar products and brands. I actually bought my first Calypso stacker after watching xsparkage review it last year sometime, and it never even occured to me to "blame" her. I can't believe people are even trying to shift the blame on you at all. I hope you keep your channel the same. :)

Thankfully, I resisted the Calypso temptation when so many gurus were complimenting it, so I escaped having to deal with this horrific mess but I feel really bad for the people who do.

    Still, even though it shouldnt have been forced upon you to make this video, it just goes to show how loyal you are to your viewers that you did.

  • So many people have had similar experiences with Calypso. I've read about some of them on the Internet and it's such a shame because her products are good. Lies, empty promises, products MIA... It's all so strange.

  • So I just set up a FB account called Jennifer Crocker Stole Our Money and I sent as many e-mails as I could to all her family and some friends on her FB page that asked them to let her know we are trying to contact her. It was polite, and I did recieve a reply from some of her family saying she's working in it. We've heard it b4 tho. This prompted her to finally post on her blog, but it's just a message saying she's working on it.

    My family owns a retail business, and we were greatly effected by flooding due to 2 hurricanes about 5 years ago. We had to shut our internet down until our storefronts and warehouse space could be remodeled and until we could actually store inventory, we had to issue refunds and we were as good to our customers as possible.

    When you own a business, your personal life CAN NOT interfere, end of discussion.

I messaged her on FB and she replied that she had been working all day on the post and it would be up....yeah right, we've all heard her bullshit before. We should see about a class action lawsuit or something.

So im glad i never bought it, and im sorry you got draged in the middle of this, And just wanted to mention that I tried 4 colors from Micabella Minerals and they are really awesome, we have a stand at our mall in the Antelope Valley and you get 4 choice of colors for $35, and the product is crazy pigmented and just awesome.   • i ordered a mini rainbow stack off calypso minerals in JULY. i contacted jen and she said she lost my check but she found it again and can send me my products. but i never heard from her again. thank you, cora for making this video. because im gonna try and contact her again. it's NOT you're fault. love you. thanks <3

  • I dealt with a company recently called High Voltage Cosmetics who were absolutely brilliant. I ordered from Ireland and I have to say they were extremely friendly and the pigments are amazing. Glamour Doll and Lumiere are great too. Plenty of choice out there!!

  • I had to report them to the FTC and the BBB. It took me two months to get a refund from Calypso Minerals and I didn't even get it from them, it cam from PayPal! I even threatened to call the local law enforcement in their area to get my refund and I still got no response from them.

  • Anytime you deal with any mail order business you take a chance. I just wish the Federal Justice Department would take a more active role in going after mail order rip off artists. Any complaints should be made with the BBB, but their power is limited.

  • Yeah I ordered a rainbow stacker from Calypso and she did take quite awhile to send it. I did receive it finally and when I got it she gave me free eyeshadows full size for the inconvenience. She wrote me a really nice apology note too. So I dunno what went on with her. It is too bad because her shadows are really great. Sorry you are getting bombarded because of what someone else did.

  • thanks for being forthright with us. It sounds like a lot of work to go back through and redo all of your old videos. But, necessary to inform viewers not to buy the product and to clear yourself from any involvement. Maybe you should just delete all videos w/calypso, and redo new looks as you go. Or, add subtitles saying, this company if a fraud/unreputable, buy this dupe instead. Just trying to help, good luck. ;)

  • It still sucks because this was such an awesome product, every sale I would order as much as possible, glad I didn't fall victim to the black friday sale though, I have a feeling I'd be out of a pretty penny...I am still going to use the shadows I have but I am sure there are many more independent mineral makeup co.s out there, like BFTE or Glittersniffer, and many more that have equal or better products and amazing customer service, and a following to prove it!!!

  • I think you've gone above and beyond personal obligation -- reviewing or talking about a product/company does not mean you're personally responsible or involved in their business dealings or fallouts. Anyone confused about this concept or who to deal with in regards to their Calypso orders probably shouldn't be using the internet to buy things.

  • No one is going to blame you for any of this...I have been ordering from calypso since it was first on etsy, over a year ago and have always had issues with shipping, I had placed an order for about $50 in samples to make my own little gifts for a bridal party and placed in Jul and received in Nov. I had to send numerous emails and finally she sent me about 60 shadows total, what would I EVER do with that? It was generous, but there were so many issues with shipping, I mean almost 5 months!?!?!

    Does Calypso play taxes? like are they a real company and have a liscence? then they cant just turn and run, like you said real can 'close shop the next day and run' because the IRS can still track them down

  • I recently tried to go to the Calypso Minerals Etsy site and it's gone. I was so disappointed; I wanted to buy the rainbow stacker. :( Cora: you're a peach. There's no way this was your fault. This is a wonderful video.

  • As far as I'm concerned, I don't hold you responsible for her actions. Your reputation still stands. As a matter of fact, I recognize your video to be great consolation and it shows me you really do care.

  • I know how they all feel I am still £250 out of pocket because of Becka and am still really pissed. I got my stacker right after you showed it and spoke to her on twitter and thankfully mine came promptly with samples too. You know people always shoot the messenger hon, it's not your fault and you have done all you can so leave people to sort their own problem out now :0)

  • YES! Anyone having this problem should call the number on the back of their card! They will credit the amount back to you, and then give the company two billing cycles to remedy the situation, then reverse the money from them.

  • Hey Cora, I've been subscribed to your channel for a while now. I just wanted to say how awesome I think it is of you to make a vid. I hope you stop getting pestered with questions. Fortunately, I was not one to get stiffed. However, I was tinkering with the idea of purchasing the VintageorTacky stacker. So, I'm really glad I didn't do that. Thanks for addressing the issue. Obviously not everyone would. :)

  • It sucks to get scammed out of money. I have gotten scammed on ebay before for over 300 dollars and they had over 95 percent positive feedback and I have been waiting for months for a refund for a dance class when the woman changed the day of the class and promised a refund when I told her the new day would not work for me. People need to stop treating each other this way. I appreciate you being honest and not wanting to promote them any more.

  • I know you aren't looking for sympathy, but I'm sorry you have to go through all of this! I'm shocked that people are blaming you or putting you responsible for Calypso Minerals' problems. I really hope this gets cleared up for the consumers' sake. You're a really good person for making a statement video & backing up those who ordered from her company. Love your videos always! <3
