  • Quality tune. 1977 Queens silver jubilee. Great summer.

With out music from the past we would not have the music of today.

I love music. Which means i can listen to anything. Classical.Jazz. Punk. House. Soul. anything and everything. If you think one genre is better than any other .Then i feel sorry for you. Music of all kinds will pass you by.

  • I just love this track soooooooooooo much!! What a memorable intro

  • Back-up vocals on this provided by Mary Hopkin

  • doo, doo, doohoo....mary hopkins of "those were the days" fame sings backup here....

  • Dear Lawson (this week's ad spammers) You are not fit to lick Bowie's arse.

  • This song just makes me happy.

  • This defies genre.

  • I can clearly feel the Cure's influence from this song!

  • @lyonslaforet or perhaps the other way around, This song was released in 1977, and if I'm correct, the Cure was just taking it's from at the time. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But a great band it is, and I do notice the similarities :D

  • @pinssimies You're right! That's what I wanted to say.

  • @lyonslaforet this album predates the cure.

  • best rythm ever

  • Why is it, on every Bowie video I watch there's some inane reference to how much better it is than hip-hop in general? I'm sorry, but are all Bowie fans 10 years old? I grew out of that attitude in first school. If I like music, I admit it and if I don't, I know that's my opinion, rather than fact.

I like Bowie, I like hip-hop, I like loads of things. It doesn't make me any better than anyone else. Actually bother to listen to some hip-hop and you might like it as much as Bowie.

  • @DoTheMathOne

    Well said!!

Love is love, it's amazing how people get territorial over taste. I completely agree with what you say. In fact, I hope everyone pays attention to what you say, instead of having those narrow minded opinions forced into their heads.

  • legend song

  • Me and Marius...

  • I ABSOLUETLY LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • You should treat music like sweets and throw away the 'rapper'

  • Song played a lot in Disco's at the time.

  • dont you wonder sometimes.....

  • Love Bowie.

  • whats to say,fucking awesome

  • The King

  • Choon!!

  • @montaneMan drop the "h" and you have the c"rap" music of today

  • david bowie has a mangina

  • Funky

  • 9 people need instant therapy

  • Bowie fuckin rocks.

  • @hudsonBay89 Maybe it´s time for another beer....

  • @chingchangchongfly I agree.more beer...

  • Okay, you want a catchy pop song? We´ll stick this on an otherwise great album to satisfy the record company.

  • @chingchangchongfly That's a stunningly dumb thing to say... what, exactly, strikes you as overtly commercial about this album?

  • @Trollbaiter1 Why don't you just ask me if I'm still screwing your girlfriend? The question contains an imbedded premise that has yet to be proved. Now let's look at your question: "What exactly strikes you as overtly commercial about this album?" I never stated it was overtly commercial, so I cannot understand, let alone, answer the question. I stated it was a great album with a catchy pop song included to satisfy the record companies. Time to go fuck with someone else now.

  • @chingchangchongfly Not fuckng with you, misread your post. I'd apologise, but you've been a complete asshole about it, so screw you.

  • @hudsonBay89 I'm with you there, Ive grown up with Bowie, he's written soo many great songs I'm still collecting them.I just put the album or cd on, nuff said.Blackout and headphones, sublime.

  • @hudsonBay89 Thank's u numb skull. u call me names and i do the same.

  • Its just a great toon from a great album, just enjoy it my friends, he wrote it for you so turn off the lights, put the headphones on and shut your eye's,,,relax! :)

  • @hudsonBay89 Why can't u just take the music for what it is. Best song EVER and nothing will ever change that in my mind

  • Bowie, up there with McCartney, one of those songwriters who separate the men from the boys.

  • Drifting into my solitude.......

  • For some reason, my brother would always sing "poo, poo, electric poo." XD

  • This is the music played on heavy rotation in heaven.

  • Mary Hopkin on BVs.

  • so great. he saw me thru so many angst filled years. god bless david bow wow!

  • Blue, blue, electric blue:

that's the colour of my room

    where I will live

    Blue, blue!

  • What I like a lot besides the fab so

ng itself was Nick Low saying he was so flattered David Bowie titled an album afterhim he was going to do the same, and released the EP called 'Bowi' with himself against a similar background and a photo of himself profile facing the same way....SO funny

  • Someone once told me he didn't like this song. He's dead now.

  • @funyun2 Who ? David ? Lost in that other womans death throes, well at least her pr machine....

  • @funyun2 This song is the psychological reverse of Golden Years. Here he's still waiting for the gift -being magic with its power of vision- he is actively operating in Golden Years. (The whole album Station to station is about the occult and drug induced magical states of mind.)

  • best bowie song ever (next to life on mars), as short and not as deep as others, still the f**king best. makes the word blue sound beautiful like ludicris somehow makes hoes sound angelical

  • @charleshuay You need to get your mother in a whirl, she s not sure if your a boy or a girl, hey baby your hairs alright, we can be Heroes if you rock n roll with me But you better hang onto yourself my queen bitch!

  • No

  • @genemeyer408 to be fair :)

  • @genemeyer408 OPEN YOUR MOUTH< I FANCY DUMPING DOWN YOUR THROAT!

  • @genemeyer408 I hear doing so 2-3 times a day is what "The Doctors™" recommend.

  • love this takes me back way back when, days before technology, and lps and my mums back room constantly being told to turn it down.

  • the snare fill at :17 gives me a boner

  • SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • i love this song, looking forward to playin 1st thing christmas morning!!!!

  • This is why i got high and missed the court hearing

  • @TheObeey i just smoked a bong & slapped a kitten

  • @genemeyer408

creating bad karma for yourself, one AIDS joke at a time

  • This guy is a total faggot who should have died of aids and been raped by dogs. Pretty good song though.

  • @genemeyer408 died of aids and raped by dogs..in that order? so he wouldnt have been alive tyo enjoy the last bit then?

  • @genemeyer408 Actually, statistically speaking, more straight people than gay are HIV+ or have AIDS. Better watch out, sucker. And, there is no evidence that dogs actually rape people, unless that is how your mother conceived you.

  • @loudenblogger thats because there are more straight ppl, proportionally more are gay. not that it matters

  • @xentech That made absolutely no sense. I am not only a Bowie fan, but I am a researcher. HIV/AIDS is in the rise for straight people more than for gay people. Period, not that it matters. I supose you think you are safe. So did the newly infected straight people.

  • just found this cassette in a big box! i friggin love this whole album!!!!!!! good shot man, and thnx for lyrics....always crashing in the same car, breaking glass..shit all of them!

  • bowie was in the same studio as numan in 1980 .numan was a huge fan of bowie but bowie told his entourage to get numan out of the studio or he would not perform .numan couldnt believe it .just goes to show what a self riteous twat bowie really was .

  • Blue blue electric blue.... stuck in my my mind since I heard it the first time....

I guess I will simply have to sit right back and wait for the gift of sound and vision ;)

  • Ive listened to this song in every stage of inebriation and it rocks in every way...genious.

  • dunno why but i feel all tingly inside

  • Love everything about this song. and that he had this haircut 20 years before gwythyth paltrow, bah a.

  • thatssssss a very nice song youve got there, would be a shame if something were to happen to it

  • This makes me happy.

  • This is my cat Bluey's favourite song in the world. She rolls around on her back when it's played to her.

  • @aligcali Maybe your cat rolls around on the floor during this song because you're rubbing her belly all the while say, "Blue, blue, blue..."

  • @aligcali I hope your cat dies. You waste of sperm. your mother should have swallowed

  • @aligcali you just made my day

  • best bowie album

  • 3 mins 04 seconds of awesomeness

  • I wish this song was 20 minutes long.

  • @TenAleTilt +1

  • Bowie at his best

  • Don't you wonder sometimes.....

  • So good! I hope the coke and milk preserves him forever! One of the best

  • This stuff reminds me of a shot of morphine, or the feeling directly after sex. Soothed.

  • Great song. They don't make 'em like this any more.

  • Such a well written song, such good music, such fantastic Bowie!!!

  • Just listening to the new Girl in a Coma on npr.org

Their song "So" pays homage to this gem

  • reminds me of when I bought the album the week in came out in Toronto,Canada...and within a few more months we were to attend the rolling thunder of the Return of the Thin White Duke, Station to Station...black n white with 3 gigantic white panels from floor to ceiling in front of a packed Maple Leaf Gardens with 40 ,000 screaming fans...what a memory....Gemma

  • it gives me joy to hear this- reminds me of my edinburgh artschool days around 2005-2008

  • Absolutely my favorite David Bowie song!

  • Green, Green...

    Sorry, I'm new to this.

  • Words are sound and vision.

  • stop putting words to sound and vision.

  • O ενας και μοναδικος καλιτεχνης με τη σημασια της λεξης.Φωναραααααααααααααααααααααα

  • A synthesized keyboard refreshes our pallet. A very simple song, delivered straightforward, with minimal distraction. Appreciation for evolutional accessory, the point where we acknowledge our granted gifts of just being able to revel in humanity's greatest features, in life's most advanced states. Given so much, just enjoying life, and having the fortune to equate sensory information as presents/presence! Sound and vision, elevated to their potential, are more than tools, raison d'etre itself!

  • its actually blue blue electric blue, blue is the colour of my room where i will live

  • i love blue

    :D

  • Blue, blue, Electric Blue, that's the colour of my room, where I will be. BLUE BLUE!

  • This whole album has a cool vibe to it. Can you believe it was made in 1977? It sounds as fresh today as then. As usual, Bowie was way ahead of the curve, musically and creatively. This one is right up there in my favorites. Loved the live version from the A &E Bowie special in New York.

  • this is a great tune but i always felt it could of been made into a full lenght classic lyrical tune

  • If everyone got it then we wouldnt' know we were different.. and thank god we are. Bowie... no peer. no dud songs. no need to explain.

  • @anabanger ur a prick and i find

  • 4 people never wonder sometime ......

  • David Bowie u r the bomb labrythn or no labrythn

  • David Bowie u r the bomb

  • No need to wait any longer for the gift of sound and vision

    It's arrived

  • favourite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • An underrateed Bowies song.

  • @turpinaime why underrated? it's like his epytome.... it's very famous, ghe did a whole tour titled after this song.

  • @666prep I know. But many consider "Heroes", "Ziggy", "Starman" or "Change" his best. And it's obvious too that this song is not as popular as Lets dance or Ashes or Fame ; )

  • i got sound and viion tattooed on me my fav and the song that got me into bowie

  • @cripplemind661

shit man, can you get it sorted out? is it obvious?? can you get the s put in?

  • @ketium haha my keyboard not the best :(

  • DB is really allways the best!!!!

  • All of my friends seem to hate David Bowie. Obviously, they have not received the gift of sound and vision.

  • @Pe0pleAreStrange1 Same with my friends. I'm told I've got shit taste in music because I listen to genius's like Bowie and Hendrix, whereas they listen to the likes of Jason Derulo and J-Lo. That my fellow YouTuber is when I got new friends;)

  • @Pe0pleAreStrange1 Same, don't suppose it helps be a 19 year old chav though

  • @Pe0pleAreStrange1

That, or they've only heard "Let's Dance."

  • @Pe0pleAreStrange1 Preachin' to the choir man.

  • I am no longer waiting for the gift of sound and vision

  • Yeahh, good old David Bowie. Class act!

  • Song for song this is my fave Bowie album. Brian Eno did a great job.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyy GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!

  • this is the song that made me fall in love with bowie. up to this day, whenever i try to get someone into him, i play them this song. always works.

  • This has been with me to witness unbelievable joy, carried me from crushing sorrow and still .... through it all ... The Gift of Sound and Vision remains ... just that .... a gift!

  • i finally saw the man who fell to earth. wow did the music suck, they really should have used low!

  • @THEprincessFirefly Sorry baby, you must have gotten a bad copy ;-(

  • Bowie had the FUNK!

  • How can I stop my addiction to Mr Bowie?

  • @WESSYS Why would you stop it?

  • @WESSYS don't fight it. Let it take over. It will get milder and be with you the rest of your life, for your own good! :)

  • is that song about taking heroin?

  • @Psico995 The best songs are open to interpretation... Mine is it's about depression & getting over writer's block. ("I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound & vision".)

  • The longest intro to any song I know. He doesn't start singing till a third of the way in. Ever the pioneer. That's Bowie.

  • @Cosmo8180 What about Pink Floyd's Time? You must know that one.

  • @NWG92 what about pink Floyd's shine on you crazy Diamond. The song is 26 minutes long and it's almost 9 minutes til the first word.

  • @Cosmo8180 funeral for a friend by elton john is really long intro

  • @Cosmo8180 stairway to heavan

  • @Cosmo8180 you're aware that like half of this album and Heroes is ambient soundscapes?

  • An excellent way to spend 3:04

  • this is a treasure of song, enjoy it!
