Your vocals are great for this. The idea that vocals have to be clear an perfect are a farce. Maybe in opera that idea holds up but not with folk music. I personally think that vocals that have some character to them are way cooler than clear vocals. Think blues songs. Get the idea? Your vocals can reach way beyond what you think, but don't limit the idea of what you can do just because they aren't "clear" without some gruff.
