I tried on some HD 558s, and could wear them with headband behind my neck comfortably instead of putting them on my head, can these do the same? In terms of outside use I mainly want them for biking, or my hour lunch at work so I dont care about sound leaking.
Which leads onto next question, for outside use can I just replacethe whole cable with a 1m long one that connects straight to 3.5mm jack for Ipod (no adapters)
I also have a Sennheiser HD586 and you did a very good description of them. Better than some professionals with videos here on you tube about them ... congratulations
I purchased a pair of HD-595's back in 2008 for around $300.00, and that was for a refurbished pair. Now you can find them brand new for around $125.00! I would recommend these to anyone who's looking for a great pair of high quality headphones as they are perfect to use for gaming, watching movies, and listening to music in the comfort of your own home.
@nazekimigaore Thanks :) Yes, as xHaRdSYlExHuNgErx says, the adopter comes in the package. The Japanese term for it would be 6mm -> 3.5mm 変換プラグ, I think.
Good review, but I have a question would this headset be suitable for me if I want to buy it for to watch some anime and movies on my laptop? Can you use it may hours that it won't hurt your ears?
BTW your English is really good for a Japanese guy, because I PVP actively in Dark Souls and 90% of the people are Japanese and they never answer to me or answer with really bad English. Cheers from Finland, love Japan lol
You are totally an audiophile.. looking at the amount of money you spend on these headphones and the fancy microphone attached on your shirt for this video. :D
lol they are called "headphones" not "headphone" because it basically has 2 earphones connected by a band. When you refer to headphones your referring to both of the drivers.
@greekpanther1 Ah, thanks for the correction, but I know it's "headphones" and that I have to refer them "they" or "them."
But in practice, no one buys one headphone of a pair of headphones. So that's why I see them "one." And in Japanese we don't have plural, and I'm just used to calling headphones "headphone."
I just ordered these and can't wait to get them. Thanks to many helpful videos on youtube...I was able to learn about these. Thank you so much jp10IamMeNotU for producing this video; I enjoyed watching it.
(i'm no professional either, but i love music and so, felt it was worth investing in. And I agree about the color)
i want to buy a new pair of headphone.. am considering between sennheiser 598 and beats studio.. I love both design, but in terms of portability i prefer beats studio (comes with travel case and shorter cable). Is the cable for this sennheiser replaceable? If it is, will it 'downgrade' the audio quality? I love heavy bass headphone. Most the reviews I've read said this sennheiser is better than beats studio. On the other hand, beats studio uses battery which is is annoying. Any suggestion guys?
@EricAsian91 There's absolutely NO comparison. These things are superior in every way that matters. Beats are absolutely abysmal in audio quality for how much you pay for them. The only thing they have going for them is some bloke who's known for making music put his name on them. Avoid.
These things have natural sound. They're how the music was actually mixed and supposed to sound. What you hear is what the engineer wanted you to hear. Beats just drown you in bass with no clarity.
@EricAsian91 if you are into LOTS of bass, these are not for you. i have the same pair of headphones in the review and i am also and owner of Beats solos. although the looks of both are about the same, solos are really uncomfortable and 598s are very comfy. (i know you are talking about studios but all i have is solos) Replacing the cable wont degrade the quality becuase the wire is already detachable. i am unsure if there is ANY kind of shorter cable you can replace it with. beats cords are not
@Gisler5 compatable as well. they also have a lower and higher sound response than beats by dre. if you are useing an ipod for music, it really isnt worth it and you would be probably be better off buying a cheaper headphone. the HD598 work really well with cd players and studios. now if you DO use an iphone or ipod, be warned. there is no case that i know of that allows for the HD598's adapter to plug into. they are STUDIO headphones (unlike beats studios. how ironic) and have a default s....
@EricAsian91 stereo jack. if you are just looking for headphones for an ipod to just carry around, the beats by dre would be better for portablility and features (noise cancling) but if you want better quality overall 598's are better. if you area bass head, look into sony MDR's, i've heard they are pretty good.
sorry for such the long reply. there are 3 replies total to your comment form me :D XD
Very funny I clicked trough the video timeline to see the part you talk about the quality, and most of the time I stopped, listening to what you say, you say "This is"
@mqueen This is no headphone for traveling purposes. Due to its open design sounds leak heavily and the headphone doesn't isolate much. You will hear others speaking and they will hear your music. So no, definitely not what you are looking for. :/
@CarrotMr Thanks for your information, I will get a headphone that's designed for mp3 player then. After some research, I found there's some nice options from Sennheinser. I guess this HD598 will just be on my wish list for home entertainment... =)
@mqueen The Sennheiser PX100-II and PX200-II are good on-ear headphones and highly portable. They look a bit funny on the head but the sound quality is very good for their respective price category. I personally use the latter one and it is pretty satisfactory.
Noise isolation (not cancelling, obv.), is surprisingly good for on-ear headphones.
If you want to be truly isolated from your surroundings you might want to check out in-ear monitors like the 'Etymotic MC5' (not for bass-heads btw.). =)
lol ppl are willing to spend $230 on these headphones and don't know if it will fit their needs...if you are here asking that question you will most likely be better off buying cheaper headphones. I would only buy these if i had an amp and a proper soundcard, otherwise it seems like I wouldn't be getting my moneys worth without the right equipment.
Thanks for the review, I've been looking at youtube videos about these headphones because I just purchased them and I'm waiting for them to be shipped to my house.
Your review seemed very genuine and unlike many 'professional' reviews that say nothing other than read off the headphone specifications off a script. Thank you,
PS your English is very good for a native Japanese speaker.
@jp10IamMeNotU what do you think about listening to Trance music on these headphones? because i heard that sennhiser HD series doesnt really fit into that music (electronic dance music) i only listen trance and progressive! and how on these things feeling the bass?
really good video, i hope we have all inspired you to make more videos. by the way is english a second language for you? if so how long have you studied it?

Great review man! I love how honest you were in the fact that you are an amateur and weren't trying to seem all pro like so many people try. You straight up said what you thought.
Also just for the hell of it, the headphones look like the interior of Bugatti's and Ferrari's. So sick.
@rezamccartney Haha, interesting question! I almost only listen to the Beatles.
One thing to consider is that I am not a professional or an audiophile. I am an amateur, just like anyone who likes to listen to music as a daily basis.
i have a question for u,im going to buy these on amazon so i want to know something:have u ever tried listening to metal music with these? i mean i love metal andi listen to eat very often so i want to know if these sound greatly also playing it. i think they do but if u can help me it'sbetter XD
@unanutriainfame No. I myself don't listen to metal music, but I think this headphone plays good sound in general with any kind of music but especially classic or jazz, I think.
I think you can check some info on Sennheiser's site? Sorry I couldn't be your help.
@THE16THPHANTOM Yeah to me too. Metric system, because I am not used to it, is just so confusing. It uses "foot" "yard" "inch" "mile" for length. So confusing!
@ZwienerZ hey, im currently looking at buying these but im concerned about the 'open air' sound. i DO want to wear these 'phones in public so im curious as to how loud and disruptive they may be. i dont really care if people can hear it a bit, but i dont want it to sound like theyre standing next to an amp. id appreciate it if you could maybe just tell me how bad it gets lol thx
great great great review man thanks form istanbul i watched every minute =) i bought hd 558 they ll deliver in this week i thought there wasnt much diffrence

ive got some questions:
1. is it foldable?
2. does the music leak much when u set high volume?
3. if u listen music for a long time, lets say an hour or two, will it hurt your ears?
4. do the ear muffs make your ears sweaty?
5. I love heavy/punchy/thick bass headphones, will this suit me?
I want to buy a new pair of headphones, but I'm torn to chose between beats studio or this..
EricAsian91 1 month ago
@EricAsian91 I THINK I mentioned some of your questions in the video though.
1. NO, obviously.
2. YES, very much.
3. I don't think it will. At least it doesn't hurt my ears having worn them for 2 hours watching a movie.
4. Not really, but after like taking a shower or in summer, they may do.
5. NO. I mean, bass is not bad, but not heavy bass. Just fair bass, I would say.
If you like bass, punchy sound, and care about the sound leaking, these are not for you.

Also just for the hell of it, the headphones look like the interior of Bugatti's and Ferrari's. So sick.
ScreaminGreenMachine 5 months ago
@ScreaminGreenMachine Thank you very much! Yeah, I agree. I don't personally know what Bugatti and Ferrari look, but I can imagine.

is this headphone sound greatly to the beatles music?
rezamccartney 6 months ago
@rezamccartney Haha, interesting question! I almost only listen to the Beatles.
One thing to consider is that I am not a professional or an audiophile. I am an amateur, just like anyone who likes to listen to music as a daily basis.
And my opinion is YES, it's great enough for me.

Is this headphone good for like listening music everywhere with ipods or mp3 or its just a home headphone?
tesou 6 months ago
@tesou I would definitely recommend only home use! You can't prevent it from leaking sounds!

unanutriainfame 6 months ago
@unanutriainfame No. I myself don't listen to metal music, but I think this headphone plays good sound in general with any kind of music but especially classic or jazz, I think.
I think you can check some info on Sennheiser's site? Sorry I couldn't be your help.

yay metric system. imperial system is really alien to me. though converting is no problem.
THE16THPHANTOM 6 months ago
@THE16THPHANTOM Yeah to me too. Metric system, because I am not used to it, is just so confusing. It uses "foot" "yard" "inch" "mile" for length. So confusing!

ZwienerZ 7 months ago
@ZwienerZ Nice! :D I'm glad to hear you like them!
jp10IamMeNotU 7 months ago
@ZwienerZ hey, im currently looking at buying these but im concerned about the 'open air' sound. i DO want to wear these 'phones in public so im curious as to how loud and disruptive they may be. i dont really care if people can hear it a bit, but i dont want it to sound like theyre standing next to an amp. id appreciate it if you could maybe just tell me how bad it gets lol thx
cmac2191 6 months ago
@cmac2191 They're not too loud. You can hear them in a quiet room, but if you're out on the go, all the other noise should cover it up enough.
