These days, it would be baffling if any discover more than ten years old was "rediscovered" and made an impact on our culture.

Science doesn't have all the answers, if it did it would stop. And the truth is that the big questions, the origin of life, the true nature of the universe are extremely difficult questions. There is no simple answer to them, unless you follow religion, which will give a quick and simple answer to these big questions. God did it.

The power and resources of early Islam enabled science to flourish in the same way that the crisis of the Second World War futhered Atomic science, Ancient Greece facilitated philosophy etc... Just like the man here says, Science belongs to all humans, it does not belong to any particular religion or political movement. 1) Currently constructing the world tallest building, Burj Dubai.Though most of the enginners r not arabs but definately they r muslims and my brother is one of them. Ask any engineers and they will tell u that such project can b very complex as it will incorporate alot of engineering aspects. And tat building is nt the only one muslims r constructing. Pentominium and Abraj Al Bait Towers (wiki them) r one the list.
2) Muslims (ok this time abt the Arabs) hav been contributing to culture and sports. If u watched the English Premier League u will understand wat i mean. Their investment grps hav brought over some of the clubs so that they could bring in good players and promote the club. Which fans doesnt want that? And this is nt only limited to EPL but also other sport clubs in Asia and some part of the world as well.
But the main point is that nowadays, the majority of Muslims are not united and not following the right Islamic guidelines therefore we lost the perfect Islamic entity that can rule the world; meanwhile that what encourage ignorant people like you (gregrutz) to ask such a question!

The power and resources of early Islam enabled science to flourish in the same way that the crisis of the Second World War futhered Atomic science, Ancient Greece facilitated philosophy etc... Just like the man here says, Science belongs to all humans, it does not belong to any particular religion or political movement. I'm very glad that there isn't any mention of the "science" in the Koran in this documentary.

Plz keep in mind folks, that the reason why there's a documentary about Islam and Science, it's b/c it's a history the West does not bother to educate their students. It's not proving Islam is the right religion but rather shows a time where education was celebrated and discussions were welcomed. There is no such thing as "Islamic Science" just as there is no such thing as "Christian Science" or "Buddhist Science", so it is a gross misnomer to refer to anything scientific as "Islamic Science". Rather, it should be referred to as Indian Science, Persian Science, Arab Science, Roman Science, Greek Science, Turkish Science, or whatever ethnic group created the science during the era in question. Rewriting religion as a source of science is both misleading and wrong.

How else would people gain knowledge?Many of the translations proved theories wrong, which were corrected by the muslims. Without them, the european renaissance would not have emerged.
And just like the great scientists and scholars of India and Greece, you have to admit that the Muslims did contribute significantly to Science. After all, computers and computer programming (for example) wouldn't be possible without the works of Alkhawarizmi (i.e. algorithms)

We look bad because we became a pawn on chess board allowing other to movie us as they wish. But my friend that will not last for long. Many people start to weak up and welling to change that. They are more than 18000 student in USA only from Saudi Arabia are willing to get the knowledge which is going to put us in the position that we should be in.

But when you hear that Muslims set the gound for all scientific discoveries today, you dont want to beleive it, and want to carry on putting Islam down. If you dont think Islam is very fashionable, you dont have to practice it. Islam is a connection between you and your god, which is created by what you beleive, its not an organization. People can be Islamic without even knowing it xD Just learn a bit about Islam before you try to put its followers down.

Ok, have it yourway, no i cant tell you what muslims have done latley, because i live in the UK,and Islamic people seem so ordinary here, And all thats on the news about 'Muslims' is the people who think Islam is telling them they should kill rather than to practice peace. 3) Well if science is what u r interested of, just to let u know that there are muslim scientists/researchers who are also working on areas such as medicine, aerospace, bio-engineering, life science etc. I am an aerospace engr undergrad myself n hav travelled to France on internship and there are a few muslims who r working on the RnD side on improving the aero technology etc.
So if these individuals u see are insignificant to u, gregrutz hw abt u ask urself this, what hav u done lately?

Plenty. Just to give u a few.
1) Currently constructing the world tallest building, Burj Dubai.Though most of the enginners r not arabs but definately they r muslims and my brother is one of them. Ask any engineers and they will tell u that such project can b very complex as it will incorporate alot of engineering aspects. And tat building is nt the only one muslims r constructing. Pentominium and Abraj Al Bait Towers (wiki them) r one the list.

2) Muslims (ok this time abt the Arabs) hav been contributing to culture and sports. If u watched the English Premier League u will understand wat i mean. Their investment grps hav brought over some of the clubs so that they could bring in good players and promote the club. Which fans doesnt want that? And this is nt only limited to EPL but also other sport clubs in Asia and some part of the world as well.

When outside forces invade Muslims land, for sure they (Muslims) are ordered to fight to defend them self !! and that's comply with all that i've mentioned in the modern history (Palestine, Shishan, Bosnia .. etc) AND for sure it complies with Iraq and Afghanistan!
so the point is: Muslims have to defend them self against any attackers, so the target is attackers whoever they are and not jews, christians !!!
