  • incredibile Mick, grandissimo talento

  • I sure miss playing with The Rolling Stones !

A 'calm' and yet strong part of the band's history !

His initals are my shoulder !

  • I'm pleased to see that Mick Taylor has aged so well. Better than I have, ferinstance.

  • blind willie is my favorite bluesman of all time even more so than robert johnson or skip james they all paved the way for the best music ever mick does a great job dont understand those who are dissing him

  • Gawd, he's bad. I saw him with Mayall in the mid-80s and he had such gorgeous tone, although he was a jerk and played LOUDLY right over Mayall... which in a way was not that bad because Mayall is not a good singer. But it was still nasty stage "manners" to drown out the boss. But he's close to pathetic now.

  • @Lafforte What are you talking about? Search for "mick taylor red house" from Stranger in this Town and tell me if you still think he is "close to pathetic".

  • I saw him maybe 10 years ago. He never switched guitars or tuning. He played with a slide a third of the time, without a slide a third of the time, and spent the other third looking through his pockets or the slide . He was great.

  • I need some explaination, Does he (fcking play) with a bottleneck on a guitar in standart tunning or Chordtunning ( like a G,E or whatever) ??

  • Like this a lot! Blind Willie was a phenom, and it was great that Dylan wrote a song about him. And MT's interpretation is great. How can anybody not appreciate this, I have no idea. Thanks for posting it!

  • My two cents worth! This is incredible! Blind Willie Mctell would love it! I have heard tapes of MIck shows from the 1980's that are some of the best tone and playing that I know of,.. especially this song!. And he has been playing to very small crowds mostly since the '70's, pouring out his heart and soul through his Les Paul! Most of these folks probably didn't know how great what they were hearing was, sadly. Thanks Mick! From a true fan.

  • 1st. I want to say Mick is one of my Fav Guitar Heros. But I don't believe anyone can honestly admit he's #1. Not Neg. here, just that since I have started my YouTube thing, I have been introduced to some extrodinary Musicians & just because they aren't reconized by the Music Ind. does not mean there not as hot or better than Mick T. or Peter Green, Alvin Lee, Johnny Winter, Etc, Etc. I have no #1 Guitar Hero. Most are my #1. Depends on my Groove at the time.

  • It's not the notes.

    It's the space between...

    Thanks for the spaces Mick!

  • Hey man...

    IT'S THE TONE!!!

THAT comes from the fingers, not the Les Paul or the amp.

Live long Mick, thanks for the tone!!!

  • Mick Taylor can sing. And this clip might just be the best of his playing I've seen in some time. Nice blending of all those songs too. And he's playing with more feeling than I've seen from him in a while. Still, he's a tragic figure one can't help but think of his time with the stones and what might have been.

  • swiggy58 Taylor is still one heck of a guitarist.

  • 'even Daryl Jones' ! - definitely include Daryl. Miles Davis always picked the best and in his 80s' comeback Daryl was a much better pick than Marcus Miller. The Stones, likewise, pick excellant musicians and so picked Daryl too.

  • that's what i call talent

  • On other MT performances in recent years, I kind of thought he lost something, but I really like his playing here. He has the old fire back.

  • It's blowing me away how many people won't shut the fuck up and listen to this guy. Where is this? What is he doing for fucking gigs now???? Is he playing this at a hotel lobby or something?

  • I believe he's also played it with Dylan.

  • google "Blues Alive" I think it is. If you can find video of it anywhere, get it or listen to it.

This was from the early 8o's I think.

He was flawless for the whole concert. Unfortunately, he was evidently on something very heavy. Just look at his eyes on the close ups.

Keith Richards was much the same on Exiles and that was some of the greatest guitar work ever for studio stuff.

People like that seem to be walking and playing right on the edge of something.

Some come back and some don't.

  • He should lose a few pounds. Both physically and performance wise.

  • Clean3: I go to the only open mic in my town, one night a week. Great amazing talent, almost drowned out by little shallow girls on their cell phones, playing games, while someone sings their Truth with their talent. Tries one's patience, indeed.

  • This is great!

  • He's as brilliant as ever! Thank you for posting this! His slide playing always COMPLEMENTS the music, quite a bit like that of Lowell George from LIttle Feat.

  • I love the way he switches back and forth from slide to fingering

  • Damn I love Mick Taylor on slide

  • Man, the guy is absoultely brilliant! The best musician that Rolling Stones ever had. Shame he is not with them any more, they evidently gone crappy after he left. Not the greatest singer but he's got the blues.

Btw, the only Stone that grew fat as well!

    Cheers Mick!

  • Great guitar work. His singing's not half bad either. I never knew.

  • So much awesomeness.. I saw him a year ago. but he only performed one song to support Bill Wyman..

  • With his weight...Possible debauchery. He will still be great!

  • Less is more Mick:

    watch?v=-PFQUt-vnQA&feature=related

Dylan on Knopfler in Slow Train Coming: 'He doesn't step all over it with fancy licks'. Mick is playing a 'souped-up' concert version here. Indeed hearing his solos on I&I, Real Live '84, my mother muttered, 'souped-up versions'.

  • If Dylan can get away with not being able to sing, why the **** shouldn't I get up and have a go? At least I can PLAY the guitar.

  • @000Jerusalem if there's anyone out there in this business who's really able to sing, my bet would be it's bob. i know that he's not able to sing, harp, playing guitar and so on. so there's nothing left. except the question: why is bob dylan the arguably most covered musician ever?

  • @loserswin783 Because he is the greatest songwriter - unless you're into that Burt Bacharach thing. I saw a tv prog on him, and found it predictable that all the celebrities enthusiastically commenting on him never mentioned Dylan. Different brain wiring. As for Dylan's playing, this anecdote from Leo Kottke is informative even when, as a Brit, you miss a few of those gobbled American words all trapped in the front of the mouth.

  • @000Jerusalem

    watch?v=f2KoIWEAdaM

  • @000Jerusalem as a german, i miss most of leo's mumbling. :-)

must have been funny, that's ok. incidentally, bott was the 1st bd album i bought. still recall what i said after listening to bott for the 1st time: "wie kann ein Mensch nur so singen?" - sadness&rage side by side, overwhelming. strange voice, excellent lyrics and nuances en masse. never topped since then by anyone.

yes, i agree he's the greatest songwriter i know. thanks for your comment.

    chris

  • I&I in evolution: I like MT on I&I, Newcastle UK 1984. (It could appear that for the Hamburg one he had gone out to take a leak). But I think JJ Jackson whipped his ass in the '93 arrangement, 2 of which are on youtube, tho not not quite as 'orgasmic' as Paris '93 (tape I have). This just leaves unsettled: do the late 90s arrangement(s) with Larry Campbell and, sometimes, Charlie Sexton whip JJ's ass? Incidentally, B7aug5 IS JJ Jackson but only in the bd-on-Rimbaud sense: 'I is another'.

  • Looks like someone had second thoughts about CENSORING my comments; maybe B7aug5 put in a good word for me.

  • Why is Taylor ripping off a Dylan riff? Simple: because the musicians Dylan hires create his riffs for him. So, nothwithstanding Knopfler's co-presence on the Infidels sessions, Mick probably created the Blind Willie (& some other Infidels) riffs/licks etc. in the first place. But Mick cannot sing the blues like Dylan. So how about Blind Willie?

  • Taylor himself has said he enjoyed playing with Richards.

  • love it! perfect

  • Hey there people (some of you),

this is not about 12Trucks, 15 Sound/Stage engineers, V.I.P.Lounge, Brass-section , 6 background-Voices, two pianos and so on...........this is about MICK TAYLOR - playing his guitar right in front of you

  • @Kowarsch Wish I could have formulated those words when I saw somebody asking Why MT went this route.Theit's " Not about trucks,sound/stage engineers, etc" I think is as accurate. Simple thing like being able to leave your hotel room for a sandwich is one way I think of why he quit the stones , besides any artistic differences, song credits, etc.

  • Check that 'Layla' riff at around 7:15, which runs right into a verse of Dylan's 'watchtower'.

Man, talk about tone- Taylor had it with the Stones, and he's still got it. I wish he'd come over and do a tour of the States. I think it's just a matter of finding a band worthy of his skills. (btw, this one is quite good..)

In summary, the guy is just plain sick!

  • mick taylor was what made the stones in the day, during that most elegant moment for the ruffians they were, gram parsons created the entirety of the artistry never to be forevermore...

  • saw Mick at the Boom Boom Club early '09 and he was awesome

  • he definately stil got it. after all these years

  • Mick J and Keith screwed their band when they refused to give Taylor credit for Sway, Dead Flowers and a few others which he ruely helped writing, to say the least. The only replacement would have been EC, alas..

  • And the skank doesn't know what she's talking about ... as usual.

  • I dont know your musical preference but ive listened to it all for more than 40 years now and Taylor is the best guitar player I have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!! I think his talent made this band great. I mean great. Sorry if I offend you. Kieth is good too, Taylor is a much better musician.

  • @flintrox So. He's not half the songwriter that Keith is. And the Stones sound IS Keith. The open-G rhythm as lead foundation. That's what makes the Stones. Love Taylor, but the term "lead guitarist" especially in terms of the Stones, is misleading.

  • @stableshadow I understand. Well put.

  • @flintrox This is what I love about Stones fans. It's all about finding musical Nirvana--without needing Kurt Cobain!

  • @stableshadow Cheers on ya mate! You get it!

  • @stableshadow agree 100%

  • @fld1201 Cheers...love them all...Ronnie, Mick T., Keith, Mick J., Charlie, Bill, Stew, Brian, even Daryl Jones!

  • iblind willies gravestone says that his name was eddie mctier thats why i call him eddie beautiful musician compare his soulful style tothis

  • My apologies to the film-makers who were unlikely to have been guilty of the jabbering.

  • I can't believe that the people filming Taylor's performance appear to talk right through it; rather like many folk here, who seem to think that their blather is essential reading.

  • The audio is recorded in the audience in the back, and the film is front of stage... that's why

  • How about that nice slide work (in standard tunning with a pick) if you think its easy, go ahead and try it. This guy would have gotten more credit for his playing if it wasnt for all these star crossed Mic and Keif fans. Oh yeah, and you can thank Ry Cooder for Keifs open G tunning rythm work. So hey, it takes a village to make a great band and dont think it was all Mic and Keif.

  • MT could play beautiful lead guitar but could he write a COMPLETE song? If he could then why has he not had a great solo album? Mick ad Kieth wrote the songs He played fantasticilly WITH them. Saw him live in Vancouver and he still plays great but he can't write! Neither can I! No shame some people have it some people don't. Comparing MT with KIeth is like apples and oranges. Two different kinds of playes who together for a time were great.

  • Spot on. But I hear lots of cliches in this playing, and these chord progressions. Mind you, I could never play even cliches this well. I wouldn't give a dollar now for a lot of guitarists who were 'legends' in the 60's. Clapton? Santana? I loved them once. Give me Django Reinhardt or Satriani any day. Don't know who Django was? Search! He WAS a genius.

  • well this wasnt really a cliché back in 83 or what?

and yes, django was a genius, indeed!

  • A three fingered genius on top of everything¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Mick Taylor is awesome. The Rolling Stones with Mick were awesome. The Rolling Stones with Bryan Jones were awesome. After that they began to suck.

  • So much feeling. I never knew how good he was till I saw him live.

  • No one likes this guy more than me. But the Stones are so crappy musicicans they couldn't write a hit song? ROFL

They are brilliant songwriters, more hits and rich, meaningful songs all sounding different. Best lyrics in rock and all those riffs are Keith's. KR isn't a great lead guitarist but he is a great guitarist, maybe not in pure sense like Clapton, Beck, and Taylor.

I agree MT did a lot for Stones but he got the big head .

He left because he was going crazy too he said.

  • MT took back that statement, in later years. He was, no doubt, pissed at the time he said it. KR is not among the best guitarists in the world, but IMHO, is one of the best RIFFERs in the world. He's like a Chuck Berry or Elmore James regarding "his" riff. You can't even play an open tune rock song without sounding like him. MT's best stuff was with the Stones, too. So, it is the synergy, not the individual. Beatles are proof that the whole is worth more than the sum of the parts.

  • B7aug5 - I agree 101 %. I finally got hold of the RS Brussels Affair bootleg from '73 (so called fixed version) and I have listened it almost constantly for two months now. The level of band integration at that stage of the tour is just out of this world. KR has always been exceptional in how he constantly keeps varying his riffs. MT solos stay connected to what the rest of the band is doing. And the rest of the band is doing something interesting all along, even when playing in 'background'.

  • Exactly.

Some of my favorite Great Classic Keith riffs that no one else could ever have created:

    Monkey Man

    Midnight Rambler

    Can't you hear me Knockin'

    Slave

    Tumbling Dice

    Brown Sugar

You hear the riff, you know the song, instantly. He is one of a kind, really....~

  • love Kieth- but he never got past the "chuck Berry" system of playing.

  • not an accurate statement. He has his own system. Chuck Berry NEVER played any open tunings. Keith does tend to play Chuck-ish leads, but to say he never got past that is a bit disingenuous, to say the least.

  • An ingenuous comment: it could only be disingenuous if the poster knew it was incorrect.

  • @000Jerusalem

What are you trying to imply? that he DIDN'T know? If you really think that, you are seriously mistaken. I'm trying to be nice, here. You are obviously not a musician, or not a serious one, anyway. Every guitarist knows that to be a FACT. This has NOTHING to do with opinions, so try to keep yourself from looking stupid in the future.

  • Got he reminds of Rick Danko at the later stages of Danko's life. His vocals sound so similar to Danko too - eerie.

  • Mick Taylor RULES! Love his album STONES THROW!

  • Mick Taylor, I wish I could tell him thanks for all the greatest sounds from 69-74.

  • Mick Taylor after he left tthe stones in 1975 played again with them back in 1981 in kansas city proof of this it's the bootleg from that show circulating on the net

  • great cover

  • cool great song

  • were is the rest of this?

  • Mick Taylor didn't leave the Stones because of a drug problem. He left because he got screwed out of royalties and songwriting credits by Glimmer Twins who didn't like to share. Mick Taylor had to leave to retain some self respect.

  • He got the boot because he was better than Keith and Keith resented it. After the fact, Mick Taylor once said that the Stones were incredibly bad musicians and couldn't understand how they could write any hit tune. LOL, but you are all right about his influence on the Stones. They haven't been the same, since he 'left'.

  • lol the stones are aweful musicians. keith richards just proves tha the "100 greatest guitar players of all time" by rolling stone is complete bs. Keith Richard one of the top 10 guitar players of all time? lol. nKeith Richard one of the 100 greatest guitar players of all time? lol. Keith Ricahrds a good or even decent guitar player? lol. hmmm... Keith Richards or Jeff Beck... lol. I think JB was quite a but better than KR. KR just took out a spot that could have been given to someone good. SW!!

  • I love Mick Taylors playing but tell me he isn't morphing into John Daly

  • Mick Talor's guitar solo is great, its a true journey from New Orleans to New Jerusalem. He once recorded this Dylan song with the Group "Black Cat Bone".

  • type 420 if ur high!

stop fighting pls. make love not drama. Ki

  • Come on, he adds a fingerprint to it, a unique signature slide solo, this is a great performance.... Come on man, it's wonderfull!

  • @camulsmoke He stands like Jerry Garcia when he plays.

  • @camulsmoke Yeah, come on man, this is the stuff ! Great voice, sweet guitar, nice approach. What's the matter with you?

  • The ONLY good thing about the Rolling Stones.

  • He was predestined to be out of the Stones, only b/c they wouldn't give him credit for songs like "Sway"- and the royalties that would gain him, not to mention that he was probably, with Wyman, the only one who WASN'T STONED!

  • C'mon man, one of the reasons for quitting the Stones was that he had developed a heroin addiction.

  • Sorry, I replied to your comment just above, under my previous one. The thing is, he DID quit the Stones, not the other way around, and it floored the others that he's drop their golden scepter with just a casual remark at a party, "Oh, and I'm quitting the band." Did a lot of nice stuff for Ron Wood's career though!

  • OK, let me clarify that.. and I see no proof that your comment is verifiable, but, still, he didn't go onstage or in the studio Fucked Up. He tended to be the dependable one of the two guitarists. And, he was entitled to royalties that Mick J later admitted, but never granted.. ones that were promised him before Exile came out.

  • Heard Mick picked up a habit hanging around w/Keith, one he could ill afford $ - yes, he was pissed he wasn't given credit for Winter, Sway, Time Waits for No One etc. The Stones lost out big time when he packed his guitar.

  • Mick is great ... He should have started a new group ... Maybe the Rolling Boulders hahahaha He must really love the burgers

  • Rockologo, you are too funny. but I hope we look as good when we are his age!

  • He was predestined to be out of the stones. A rolling stone can't be fat. LOL

  • If you say these kind of things, you're a brianless fool.... That's all I have to say to your comment.

  • If you taught that comment was serious, you're a brainless fool. That's all I have to say to your comment.

  • @bluesandmore ,

    'Brianless'?!

  • Older, heavier... but damn, that man still has the BADASS licks.

  • guitarrista de un talento extraordinario como muy pocos....

  • boys' gotten big

  • yep, he kind of resembles elton john¡¡¡¡

  • lol. better i'd know that, i live in ochten :P lol

  • He was in the Netherlands? shit.. Wish i'd had known that at the time.. Doesn't look like we have a change of seeing him live any time soon... He's fricking awesome...

  • He played quite some shows in Holland, you should keep checking things I would say, he played also in Amsterdam with Bill Wyman and Chuck Berry.

he will also play at Bospop this summer.

  • Alright.. i was there at the Heineken Music hall.. He was really good.. but he played 2 songs.. so that is not a real show...

But bospop.. Damn! i can't go then.. So i'm gonna miss Neil Young and Mick taylor.. shame.. shame..

  • Mick Taylor is a genius, yeah !! I love him work.

  • No one could replace Brian Jones. But MT was a damn good guitarist. Much better than Ronnie Wood.

  • Does anyone know if he plays slide in standard tuning or in a diferent tuning?

  • STANDARD

  • Not in the stones though..

  • Thank's for posting this great video! You are doing a very good job. Let It Rock!

  • If MT wanted to be w/ the Stones he would be w/ them NOW! He left because Jagger & Richard would NOT give him any writing credit after promising they would. He helped write Honky Tonk Woman, Sway, Moonlight Mile, Ventilator Blues, Time Waits For No One, Waiting On A Friend..... WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Sit back and let the "Twins" get all the credit and money?

  • Well, if you find one of Taylor's interviews on Youtube here, he says that there were a number of different reasons why he left - but that was one of them I think. Also he was battling heroin addiction.

  • Taylor's "H" addiction was in the mid 80's. "THE" reason he left the Stones was the writing credit. Jagger & Richards were shocked, upset and pissed at the time. Because it was just before their 1975 tour of North America. That's why Richards to this day disses MT any chance he gets. Not to mention MT played circles around Keith.

  • ronedee, yeah I notice that Richards atttiude changes when MT's name is brought up in interviews. I get the impression keith doens't care for him too much.

  • ..and because Mick Taylor want quit the cocaine. That time was great for all.

  • I have to agree, Ronedee. The stones totally dissed MT because they could. Ah, but we mustn't disrupt that 'jagger/ richard' songwriting block, right?

Keith the junkie was mostly AWOL for sticky fingers, and the entire GHS album, while MT worked up a lot of those great songs (winter, silver train, sway, moonlight mile etc.) with Jagger.

But the proof is in the playing. Listen to the albums with Mick T, then have a listen to the Woody shit -there's just no comparison. Give us 1 last tour w/MT!

  • Fleetwood Mac did a similar thing with Bob Welch. I think having no conscience is a prerequisite for success in that business..

  • hmm. the past. a great reason to not do something.

  • I was just trying to set the record straight. The info flying around here is bogus. Not that anyone really cares...Except for maybe Mick Taylor. The Glimmer Twins made a promise to MT and didn't keep it. I don't blame him a bit. I still think it was the Stones Golden Age! And MT will always be a part of that.

  • I think maybe Mick T was a victim of timing... Nobody was going to REPLACE Brian Jones. It probably didn't help that his first name was Mick either... I have several of his solo albums and they make me want to grab my guitar every time... and maybe someday I'll find the sound...

  • let's not trash ronnie. keef and mick may have big egos, but they also want a good sound. ronnie fits in nicely. mick is technically better, sure. that's a no-brainer. but not if he doesn't gel with the boss. end of story.

  • Yeah. Musically, the best era of the Stones. But Taylor didn't really gel well with Keith.

  • Still think to this day MT's solo on I Don't Know Why is the greatest Rolling Stones guitar solo ever ?

  • Forgot all about that one powmillon. I don't know about the "greatest" but its in the top five at least.

  • Its wery wery good blues. He play fantastick on the guitar love it . Keep on Mick Taylor Love your play.

  • Mick Taylor was the best guitarist on the Stones and they were their best when he was with him. He doesnt get enough credit. Mick and Keith were known for treating people badly who could take their spotlight away from them

  • Mick should get in shape, his playing is great but he has let himself go it seems a bit. the stones could come callin again ,you never know. get in shape Mick I would love to see you take Ron Woods place and be a stone agaIN !!

  • bass players right on it!

  • a genius.. maybe an unfortunate one but still. i adore this cats english blues.

  • he looked so fucking sad 1969197019717234

  • Ronnie Wood has always been a crap ! Only recruited for his looking face ...Since he' s in the stone, I think they should have better stop Forza Mick !

  • Love ya work Mick, The stones never rocked the same once you left, and your work with Dylan on "Infidels" is beautiful-what a studio band that was. Keep singing my friend. Matt

  • whys he play with the slide all the way down his pinky finger i thought he usually played with it resting on the joint with only the top part of his finger applying pressure to the slide at least he used to play as such in the early days which is better?

  • Funny thing you should mention this. When I saw him he used it off the top joint of his ring finger and I actually spoke to him about it saying that I used it on my pinky as in this video. This has the advantage of freeing the other fingers. I feel there's more control with the slide all the way down on the finger.

  • I remember seeing Mick T at the old lone star in nyc...that is where I first heard this song...spent the next day searching the city for a dylan version of it.

  • Mick's singing has relaxed and improved over

the years...It's still got a pretentiousness

that creeps in here and there, oh well.

He's every bit as vital and expressive as ever, and that's why we come to listen in the first place, don't you know...

  • Fantastic, there's that incredible vibrato that can only be Mick Taylor. Quite an amazing musician and gentleman.

As far as his looks go, who cares? That's real life and it happens to most rock n roll guys and gals.

  • why are everybody complaining about his looks? Looks doesn't coun't in real music. The thing is of course what the guy's playing! MT is a wonderful musician, just like peter green (you should see what he looks like know!)

  • Sin dudas un grande. Fue el sonido de la mejor epoca de los Stones. Me gustaria saber si vendra a tocar a Buenos Aires.

  • Man, it's go to go to a video, where folks actually acknowledge MT the way you guys have. From the first time I heard him as a Bluesbreaker--thinking he was still a teen then, when Mayall would let him stretch out as much as possible--he's never ceased to amaze me with what he comes up with and how it affects anybody who's playing with him.

  • Mick Taylor saved the Stones and was instrumental in the success of their greatest albums. That is a FACT that can't be disputed. Listen to him on Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. He didn't get the recognition and credit he DESERVES.

  • Almost correct. He only played the slashing rythim in Live With Me on Let It Bleed. Other than that you are absolutely right. He could have been a little more outgoing. Look at Woody. He fits in as a Stone but can't seem to reproduce those signature Taylor leads.

  • Mick Taylor didn't like the party scene because he was too serious a musician. He quit the Stones but had already given his soul to them (literally and figuratively).

  • Although MT didn't like the party scene, he did indulge in cocaine on a regular basis and was in fear of going the way of Brian Jones. Mick and Keith weren't using any of his compositions so he said adios. What a shame. Imagine all those songs left un-recorded. This can be read in Up And Down With The Rolling Stones by Tony Sanchez (Keith's friend & dealer).

  • Mick Jagger, in a 1995 interview with Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone magazine, admitted that the years in which Taylor was a member of the band were its best, musically. Charlie Watts stated: "I think he found it hard to get along with Keith...certainly what came out of playing with him are musically some of the best things we've ever done". Another statement made by Keith Richards is "Mick Taylor is a great guitarist, but he found out the hard way that that's all he is".

  • Taylor never did seem to fit the Stones mold but then again neither did Charlie or Wyman when you think about it. What's wrong with just being a great guitarist? They should have convinced him to stay. I can only imagine the unreleased material sitting on a shelf with Taylor on it. Start Me Up was originally done in the early 70s with Taylor on lead but they shelved it and re-recorded it with Keith and Woody playing some very conservative guitar.

  • Nothing wrong with being "just" a great guitarist, but I think what Keith meant was that being just that, wasn't enough to build a very worthwhile solo career on. He's right in that respect, IMO. The Stones' appeal has always been a combination of how they presented themselves, the performance, creating a significant sound, no matter in what style they played and above all the songwriting, which is much more than "just" great musicianship.

  • maybe thats why sometimes start me up pisses me off when i listen to it lol.

  • if i dont know whats heavy that sure fucking is.

  • one thing i've never seen, and that's a fat rolling stone, poor mick looks fat and happy playing the bar circuit, or maybe just depressed cuz he's not touring the world making millions with Brian Jones' old band, who knows. i've always loved his playing though he's real.

  • original song was dylan on piano and mark knopfler on guitar

  • mick taylor originally played on this song during bob dylan's sessions for infidels

  • For me Mick is among the 5 best guitar player in the world....hey I'm talkin about Clapton SRV Page.....got the chance many Years ago to hear Him with Blueasbrakers......wowowowowowwo

  • Mick is GOD.Man he is some player, everything about him oozes class. When you think the sound is from a video cam .

  • My god he has got old looking but then again won`t we all . Genius .

  • Mick added so much to the Stones, they lost their soul when he left. His 1st solo album Mick Taylor was unfriggin believable. I expected many more with all that Jazz Fusion, Rock & blues but then the arse fell out of her! Anyway, your the greatest Mick, but please pop out a few studio albums in the same vain as your first, I mean all that instrumental stuff like on side two of your solo album , you & Jeff Beck really mastered that fusion style which remains fresh & doesn't sound dated.

  • Put your leather jacket on. Oh yeah Mick was great with the boys. This is a nice blues tribute.

  • Talent and class, that's Mick, buy his CD, this song is on it and it's wonderful. I manage Paul Fenton and he's opened for Mick 3 times and there's no star trip BS, no stage hassles, PURE CLASS.

  • Used to play guitar in the greatest rock and roll band in the world and ended up editor of a poxy guitar magazine. WTF?

  • He's absolutely no editor of any magazine... You're wrong informed dude..
