  • Can we use 2sDP longer than striding before gearing down to herringbone? My last 10k the skis were sliding out way earlier than everyone else and had to herringbone extra 5-10 yards before everyone else on touring skis. (I was using skinny waxless skis, never again!)

  • @tejasbilly woaahhhhh you didnt have kick wax?

  • @tejasbilly Hi! No, striding is better/easier for climbing steeper stuff. Waxless is fine in the right (humid) conditions. But if it's cold and powdery they'll slip. You can do a superintense jumpstyle 2SDP in race mode to get up darn steep hills, but it works the body a lot, too.

  • Thanks for making these Jeff! Wish I'd had an internet connection the past week in Austria, I would have tried exploring such touring techniques with more confidence yesterday when I got myself to put away the skate skis for a few hours, rent some calssics. I found myself doing single stride double pole, everywhere it was flat. Bit of a dra with short poles. No patience for real touring perhaps, and for me it was easier to balance, having been a skate boarder may be a factor there.

    Great stuff!

  • Totally. Great two videos.

That's the beauty of cross country skiing, if you're not a racer, you can make it out to whatever you want it to be. That's why I love the sport so much! 90% of skiers will never race anyway!

  • Spot on. I think those touring 'moves' are very useful out on the trail.
