How fast are these going? What I've noticed is the faster I throw a knuckleball the more movement it has. Even if it spins 1 full turn to 1/4 turn to no spin at all. I can get it up to about 55 MPH on average.
I'm no expert but I have someone catching my pitches to tell me if they're moving or not. I don't throw a regular knuckleball so I don't think any of my tips will help. There are videos on YouTube which can help, I'm sure. Good luck!
A good knuckle ball rotates about one full turn during it's flight, preferably over the top. It's a misconception that it shouldn't rotate at all. A slight headwind is ideal, but the stonger the headwind the tougher to control.
@bassalthetime lmfao! knuckleball can break with or without wind, wind just makes it break more. my knuckleballs break wihtout wind u create wind while throwing it.
@bassalthetime wind doesn't make it move you were right about if its thrown right it's not supposed to move but wrong about everything else the center of the ball gets "confused" so it starts to bounce every where like you said only it does break. at the end of the trow it breaks. go on google video and type in Tim Wakefield knuckle ball find the tutorial and that will tell you the same thing i said
actually a knuckle ball is supposed to ummm... knuckle?? its supposed to move back and forth. Remember when Wakefield faced ARod like 2 years ago. First 2 pitches were thrown perfectly, he missed both. Third just floated and Arod launched it to the 20th row.
There are different speeds at which a knuck can be thrown the most movement occurs around 72 mph but you have to be able to eliminate spin and throw it that hard. Anywhere from 50-72 is a pretty good speed for it. Notice it's slo-mo and therefore you shouldn't comment on the speed of the pitch. As for comedian and chaosking, those may work for you but not everyone throws a knuck the same way.
BTW: A lot of time a camera can't capture all the movement of the knuckleball, some HD ones can though.
If you watch Tim Wakefield pitch (only major leaguer with a knuckleball) his average is 63 to 66 mph. He throws his fastball at 70-74. 70 mph for the knuckle is to fast.
if u dont follow through meaning stand up when u finish it moves more i know it sounds wierd but try this for me try throwing it like a fastball meaning u follow through and then try it standing straight up i promise it will move like crazy
its in slow motion dumbass? and I have never seen a catcher outside the major leagues and ahead of 12 yr old baseball warm somebody up with a mask on anyways.
This pitch would get raked. Way too slow and arm is restricted. A good knuckler is around 70 mph. Mechanics are bad and your catcher doesent even need a mask.

i son't see any break

it works more like a super changeup rather than a knuckleball because it is slower and it drops tremendously good strikeout 0-2 pitch

Not the best knuckler I've ever seen

Where's the movement?? These are just hanging slow pitches waiting to be crushed deep over the fence.
staphinfection 3 years ago
The point of a knuckleball is that it doesn't move. When thrown properly it's very hard to hit.
jxwhee 3 years ago
yea so the batters just miss it cuz it stays a stright line that makes perfect sense. hes talking bout the break not the rotation of the ball
luckymom455 3 years ago
wtf? im pretty sure that a knuckleball does move
Dougieboy08 2 years ago
@Dougieboy08 a nuckle ball is just susposed to drift in the air
imwildthing99 1 year ago
@imwildthing99 drify in the air? umm no
cfl990 1 year ago
@imwildthing99 knuckleballs are not suppose to drift in air, you actually have to throw it fast for it to move more
slicknick112233 1 year ago
did not move at all, i would have raked that

bseballer831-i'd like to see you throw it better and also, 50 or 60 is a better speed.
I say keep up the good work.
