  • Man, she's breathtaking.

  • THOSE WERE THE DAYS: GREAT VOICE. GREAT MESSAGE OF THIS SONG

  • Fuck I just got so depressed. I miss being a kid, you know. The good old days :(

  • I prefer the old disney! So beautiful!

  • I've just watched Ugly Betty, and I miss her!

  • Why Hai Dere Renee ;D

  • she won a oscar for this song!

but never won a grammy? how is that even possible

    cruel cruel world!

  • Beautiful singer, Beautiful song which has an everlasting meaningful theme.

  • i started going green and conserving energy when i saw this

  • I love this song :) it's beautiful. the movie was great.

and the newer disney movies are still amazing. Tangled is my obsession now xD

  • disney was the bomb with all the princess movies in the 90s and before..now all the disney movies are computer animated and not cartoons..i love the cartoons.and every princess movie had a song..that everyone new...i dont know the song to tangled or the princess frog. ..i am 16 and i have almost all of the disney movie cartoons on vhs and dvd. not to mention the tv shows on disney suck..it started with hannah montana...

  • @normandyangel You have such a bias to the old films though, since there's all this nostalgia attached to them from your childhood. Tangled and Princess and the Frog were aimed at the children of today, not you, and I can tell you they LOVE the films. Merchandise sales are huge, there's always a 85 minute line at Disneyland to meet Rapunzel, and I hear kids singing almost there all the time around disney hotels. those films just arent as important to you, but they are to the kids of today :)

  • Part of my childhood. part of my life.

  • This song just reminds me enough of my Indian Heritage and that side of my biological Cherokee Indian Family, but I am mostly Jamaican and Puerto Rican Raised.

  • Vanessa I just love but just get the way that you sing this song and have always just been drawn to this song just because of the way that just you sing it. I just love that your American Indian Hertiage is combined with the animated Story of Pocahontas! Biologically I am of Cherokee Indian and African American to as well. I have distinct Cherokee Indian facial features.

  • OMG it's Wilhelmina Slater!

  • i love this song, it's so full of passion...

  • I wish Disney would get back to the great movies they did like "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "The Little Mermaid," "The Lion King," and "Pocahontas." Disney music, movies, and TV just sucks now. Disney Channel, Radio Disney, ABC, and ABC Family no longer have great programming. Disney is getting further and further into the reality-show trend. It's like Disney is trying to compete with the rest of the entertainment industry for the worst and least talented people and worst programming. Sad

  • @alchap9695 Thanks and they don't have to be drawn by hand but the old Disney movies made us laugh, cry, cheer with joy, and made us hold our breath. I just feel they are more into making money instead of what the audiences want and everyone tells me Tangled was good but I never saw it. What was the very first Disney movie you saw?

  • Fist slow dance <3 Our homecoming was Disney themed(: All the slow songs were classic Disney(: I felt like a princess(:

  • I JUST found out that she plays the role of Renee Perry in Desperate Housewives! I love her :D

  • @MissAstrid17 Reallllly, that was her!!??? She is so pretty and cute at the age when this MV was recorded. Because of this song, to me she's not the crazy woman in desperate housewives anymore.

  • They need to start making movies like this again, I want my future children to have a childhood too, even if it gets played on BluRay rather than a video tape.

  • Such a beautiful song and i love the movie. Disney used to have the best movies ever. not so much anymore....

  • i don't care how old i am, dese songs remain in my heart and played over an over dis is wat made me dream from small to now

  • Is it bad that I would still happily watch the film from the Disney renaissance at the age of 18? Such great memories and the Disney movies now just don't compare to the classics.

  • @mikeykm1993 I still do that at 25... Ain't bad at all. :)

  • @mikeykm1993: No it's not bad. I'm 26 and I still enjoy the Disney classics like this one. They're definitely FAR better than the mess Disney does now. I still enjoy the great songs like "Beauty and the Beast," "Colors of the Wind," "Part of Your World," "The Circle of Life," and "A Whole New World." And I can't watch/listen to Disney Channel, ABC, or ABC Family anymore without being disgusted. Now Disney is screwing up Marvel. I now stick to USA, TBS, TNT, MSNBC, and FOX.

  • I love her as Renee Perry in Desperate housewives <3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song

  • I love this version of the song! Vanessa Williams does a fantastic job!!! Thanks for posting this!!

  • wow disney channel sucks now! NO beauty and the beast nor this when a movie airs [hell they even dont air freaking goofy movie no more] no,no,no,oh no they just air crap like beverly hills chihuahua and reruns of crappy ''original'' movies i mean what the hell is up with that? i mean THATS why the rating's are falling down the shitter along with disney's dignity

  • Oh my god! I remember watching this as a little kid and just loving Vanessa Williams, gazing at her smiling and singing while laying down on my parents bed and loving Pocahontas so much! lol

  • she must look back when she was young and say to herself what the happened to me. She got heavy and older looking. Check her out on Desperate Housewives.

  • @MrMatto1 Yes. 'Older looking'? This is a process we humans call 'life'. You get older. Your body and its metabolisms slow down, and you usually gain some form of weight. Vanessa still outshines the hundreds of 'celebrities' that crawl out from the mud today.

  • @AnnaLucie1991 That's why they invented running shoes. Just because you get older doesn't mean you have to get fat.

  • @MrMatto1 She's 48...She looks damn amazing for her age! haha

  • @G4Rat She doesn't look bad for being 48 but what I'm saying is she must look back and say to her self damn I use to be smoking hot. I always thought of Vanessa Williams back in the 90's as being absolutely beautiful and classy looking but now not so much.

  • The existencial meaning behind this song and the movie brings chills down my spine.

  • @MsUno1000 Yeah. The words aren't just words - for me, they speak of the beautiful ambiguity that makes our world a thrillingly terrifyingly wonderful place; this song whispers to me that there isn't one world, there isn't one way to 'be', I'm not 'crazy' because I am different, and that we can tell new stories about the things we have always taken for granted. A rock is an object in Europe, in Africa 'it' could very well be a 'god'. Who's right? Who's wrong? Both and neither. Amazing!

  • Vanessa williams was found by a TALENT SCOUT!!!!!!!! Look it up!!! For all you dum ones out there. That means that she is healthy. The (her) GENES CAN BE VERY STRONG, BUT YOU still must eat right!!!!!!!!!

  • she is the best. she can sing, act like a bit*h and looks beautiful.

  • i'm finishing my book while listening to this!!!!!!

  • i don't like this because this is old. I don't like this cause this is from a movie. i like this cause it means so much. this also can teach people! it is music. real music. real.

  • She is so gorgeous

  • @porusky She's not gorgeous, She's F********** gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's probably a rag now, because she's not EATING right. hammammon@yahoo.com

  • Is it me or have new Disney lost there sparkle like the older Disney movies?

  • @thruth3689 All besides Tangled. ;D

  • @sorasgirl0 I haven't seen Tangled

  • @thruth3689 You must....you must

  • @thruth3689: No you're right. Disney movies now just suck. They definitely aren't good like the older Disney movies like "Beauty and the Beast," "Pochahontas," "Aladdin," "The Little Mermaid," and "The Lion King." Disney Channel, Radio Disney, ABC, and ABC Family have all gone downhill as well. It's like Disney is competing with the rest of the entertainment industry to see who can find the worst and least talented people. I wish they'd do more music and movies like this one.

  • I remember cheering on Simba when he fought Scar. I remember booing at Ursela, when she took Ariels voice. I remember fighting the Huns side by side with Mulan. I remember the wind through my hair, running by Pocahontas. I remember being locked in the Beast's castle. I remember laughing and having fun with Mickey and his friends. I don't remember watching Teen Drama on stupid Disney Channel. Copy and paste this to all you favorite Disney Videos, and let's start a revoulution. W. Disney 4ever

  • Vanessa Williams should sing everything.

  • Where is the begening?

  • 240p we meet again...

  • A very strong and emotional song towards the wilderness. Very little people these days care fot eh environment and life. This planet has been around a lot longer than us humans and still holds many secrets we do not know about. We find a new breed of wildlife, what do we do, kill it and cut it up to study it. Why not study them alive for once. Us humans are the planets greatest enemy. We nee dto respect the wilderness. :(

  • lol, i remember dancing to this in third grade, good times, good times, and in second grade i remember dancing to Who let the Dogs out when that song was hot

  • The original of this song made me cry with emotion, this just makes me weep at the lowering of standards.

The video has been made to be about the singer, not the song or its values.

  • i honestly wish disney went back to its old ways, it kills me when i see these new pointless movies/tv shows.

  • i love you lola

did you hear me sing this?

  • so glad i was born in jan '93 and grew up with all the classic disney novies :) most of this new stuff sucks nowadays!

  • aw this is a good song. I like it. the old song always makes me cry :((

  • I can play the piano to this song XD

  • im so lucky i have a DVD where they show all the original songs, clips, and music from Disney Classics, no remakes or anything like that, PURE Disney :)

  • originals way better

  • while thinking about it.. Vanessa looks like Pocahontas xD. shes so pretty e,e

i will watch the Disney movies before my kids watch em...cus i don't want them to grow up without the feeling i had as a child. movies that is more about love then the action. The little mermaid. Beauty & the beast. Lion king. Tarzan, Mulan and Pocahontas ofcourse.

  • Im going to have my kids grow up watching old Disney movies and not be stupidified by mainstream music/movies

  • Why is it so hard to keep these love songs on Disney movies nowadays?

  • I love this song

  • u can't compare with ashanti and Vanessa Hudgens... matter of background instrumental and voice feeling... my opinion

  • hi guys please watch me singing this song, on my channel

  • Disney Channel should have an hour or 2 a day where they only play old music videos and disney songs.

  • @CubfanDaMann OMG Yess!!! I'd love that.

  • @CubfanDaMann they did it was called Mickey Mouse Club

  • @CubfanDaMann I would cry like a baby so hard.

  • @CubfanDaMann Yeah than maybe I'll start watching it ;p

  • @CubfanDaMann tgat's right .

  • im an outsider,im an indian and i was rejected by people and my crush,i was teased and made fun, this song really helped me to get over all those pains and sufferings, even thou i dont have any friends i can still feel my soul being a friend to me:)

  • :) so lovely!

  • i seen something on tv, wow maybe not, that cool

  • This is so beautiful... Greetings From Finland!

  • One of the best songs ever in terms of melody and lyrics!!!

  • RENEE PERRY!! :D

  • oh my God, childhood... :')

  • hi guys, i sing this song too, please click on my name and have a look.. of course i aint no vanessa williams lol but i sang my little ugly heart out.

  • A SONG OF NATURE. A SONG FOR THE NATURE. LOVE NATURE.

  • you know as a 80,s born girl,,i dont listen to no remakes from the new generation of any of these songs. My childhood songs sound great as they are, and no young kids can make my classics any better!!

  • @lisachineserooster these song come out in the 90's. old-timer.

  • @ScarieeStephaniee Times don't matter much.,.,.,., the melody of the song matters!!

IF YOU LIKE THESE SONGS JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE OLD-TIMERS THEN YOU ALL ARE NOT REAL FANS OF THESE SONGS!!! Even today.,., though in lesser numbers.,.,., melodious songs still are made

I SEE THE LIGHT FROM TANGLED IS SO MELODIOUS AND IT IS NOT AN OLD TIMER!!

  • @lisachineserooster TOTALLY RIGHT!! Remakes, if made should not kill the beauty of the ORIGINAL SONG!!

Examples of BEAUTY KILLERS!! : Miley Cyrus-Part of your world ( UGH!! I DONT WANT TO MENTION MORE!!)

Examples of BEAUTY ENRICHERS!!: Colors of the wind(Vanessa Williams.,., LOVE YOU!!)

Tale as old as time (Celine Dion.,.,)

Someday my prince will come ( Tiffany Thornton)

  • @rishabhrox1 I will agree that Vanessa Williams has done a good cover of this song. I know she is the only artist to have done this song (to my knowledge, I may be wrong) but Judy Kuhn's veriosn of the song from the film is a little more powerful.

  • @TheAnthonylevesque The origina versions are always the best.,.,.,., but I was talking in terms of Remakes of the original songs!! :)

  • @lisachineserooster I agree... I mean, ok I respect what the young ones do today BUT still NO ONE CAN DO the original songs except the original artists!! The new ones are silver BUT THE OLD ONES ARE GOLD!!

  • @lisachineserooster or born gay

  • i love this song a lot.... :)

  • I am an Aussie with a deep love of the country as opposed to the city and I really "feel" this song.. To say the Indians or the Natives of my country are/were savages shows a complete ignorance of their true culture.

  • Willamina!

  • she kind of looks like Pocahontas :)

  • @shadow3951 Only ignorant and small-minded people think Native Americans were savages. Unfortunately, the world is full of those kinds of people.

  • Native Pride!

  • can someone help me? :) I need to find the chords or notes to this version! not the disney version :) I can only find the disney version for some reason! It starts with C, but I don't know how this song goes! :(

  • half cherokee here slash other tribes no sure which dads side cherokee mom side is something done remember

  • @shadow3951 Out of the previous civilizations I admire the Natives the most. They believed that the land was sacred and belonged to no man. Other civilizations of the time were motivated by greed and power, and pushed away the ones that weren't like them. Like another Pocahontas song "Savages" states "They're not like you and me, which means they must be evil." that was pretty much the mentality of the Europeans at the time.

  • Omg this is wilheimina slater?

  • Great tune, great film...I have Massachusett tribe blood running through my veins, although its very little, but I'm proud of my Native heritage! Here in Massachusetts, we have a National Day of Mourning every Thanksgiving in opposition to what most books taught about that first "Thanksgiving".

  • This used to be my FAV disney movie when I was younger, aside from the Little Mermaid&Beauty&the Beast :D &Idk if they do it now,but this music video used to be at the end of the VHS Pocahontas movie&it used to be like my fav song!Which,,,it still is lol :P

  • im part Cherokee. :D

  • 1/2 Comanche and proud!

  • 1/2 piscatawy<3

    chama wingapo...

  • Im proud to be 1/2 Afghani.

  • Pocahontas > Avatar.

  • Avahontas

  • @Bunty101 OR Pocatar :)

  • So Beautiful.

  • OHMYGOD What happened to Wilhelmina Slater!

  • Thanks for the video, since this is my first time watching it.

  • @shadow3951 NATIVEZ RULE!

  • I Love singing this in the shower >:3

  • my cousin was so pretty, when i was albino, she was black as white withperfect gumes, and exceptional. so i hid, and terred my insignificants in this meaning of perfect all there people. why i had become more and more black model, she was born beutiful. i with mohawk, , more, and more, i became perfect. and this black buddah spanish hitter she was, and like the rest. so far away. i hate non love or pushed , when she stole,i didn't i became better than her,

  • It's confusing. Because there were of course savage indians that did bad things and had creepy traditions. But that's like saying that all Americans are democrats or something, not saying democrats are savaages.., There are good and bad of everything and what Americans did to the good indians. I just want to urgh..... !!!!! :'(

  • I like the video. However, I do like Ashanti's version better.

  • So we are all connected to one another and stuck in a circle that never ends, How depressing!!!!

  • Omfg Vanessa Williams use to sing??? Is she the same person who acts on Ugly betty??

OMG I never knew she sang this

  • @NinkaPanda you should hear her other song then "save the best for last". Nice song as well.

  • @Dynaztii Omg she sang that too??? Omg are you serious? I like know that song since primary school... Oh my god. I wouldn't have thought she had sang that song.

Its a shame that she stopped singing.

  • @NinkaPanda She has a ton of great songs. The sweetest day? something like that... is really good

  • beautiful voice, beautiful woman.<3

  • one of Illuminati's favorite story's on how manipulation of love can be taking over with control! Sory does not have a happy ending for the natives after the movie....

  • @shadow3951 me too =)

  • @shadow3951 because tribes like the apache were born into war. there were peaceful tribes but there was plenty of warrior tribes

  • I love this great, thought-provoking and melodious song.

  • Ok, 1) She never met John Smith 2) She did marry Wolfe and that fucked up her life in the end....but Native Americans is the race, I think that had it the worse, with blacks and jews coming behind. My grandmother was native american/black/ and part creole born in Mississippi in 1914, I don't need to tell you how her life went.....:/

  • @shadow3951

Agreed! Studied in Canada and have some Native friends too. I am a Singaporean.

If you watched Dances With Wolves, tells us the whole story,

  • "Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon" Amazing <3

  • @shadow3951 I have Sioux blood as well. I am proud of my heritage.

  • @shadow3951 Me too, Ojibwe Pride <3

  • wow she's beautiful

  • @shadow3951 I think they felt guilty inside because the native americans being so close to mother earth vibrate to a higher level of spirituality which is love. They knew you cannot own earth or land it is simply borrowed or lent to us.. Totally different worlds and upbringing but then that is just my opinion.. guess I'm Native in my heart and yes they are beautiful people. Savage is a term for people who cannot be confirmed and are free I would rather be considered that and be happy :)

  • @jamo222xbl me too!

  • Comment removed

  • @Hazukixkohei Surprise, you live in the white world too long....you have Tsalagi/cherokee ancestry YOURE INDIAN!!!!! You are not all white and stop romantizing about being a little Indian....its the same as "being a little pregnant"...you have the opportunity in your life to go learn about your ancestors and BE ABLE TO BE PROUD of them alongside your other European ancestors .....go claim it and stop living in that make believe world of yours!

  • @smthbear808 I dont live in a make believe world.. I have my dreams that people around me say will never happen but... I know my dreams will come true. I did not mean to start a fight, I completely DISPISE drama so lets please end this conversation.. Deal? ^^

  • @Hazukixkohei REALLY? Can you promise everyone that you will never bring up being a "little Indian" then? Youre a part of the problem that America has w/ race and youre a coward!!!! Deal, I will fade away and leave you to your yellow stripe on your back!!! Good bye!

  • @smthbear808 You're mean. ;-; I also dun like meanies! Let's please not be mad at each other. I attempt to make friends and i very rarely succeed.. I wasnt making fun of vanessa if thats what you took my comment for.. I spoke and now i regret it.. I'm sorry.....

  • The more and more I watch this the more I love this song and Vanessa Williams! SOOOOOOOOOOO AMAZINGG!! <3 =)

  • @monkeyshree be happy of who you are and your people and the struggles that they had to go through! Knowing about what happened to the Native Americans and the pain and suffering that they had to through is beautiful in itself as long as the story of what happened lives on and is never repeated then you have given them all you can.....( if you what to do more then I say go for it)!! :D

  • oh my god she is beautiful(:

  • what movie is that?

  • @riogen100 it is poccahontas

  • beautiful song! I love this song !

  • Comment removed

  • love you vanessa.

  • @shadow3951 what a wonderful song..love u vanessa..

  • WOWW absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! this makes me want to cry! so beautiful!! <3 <3 and loveeeee Vanessa Williams!! such a beautiful talent! <3 =)

  • awww, beautiful song!

  • @shadow3951 I have Native American and Jewish blood in me and before I embraced these bloodlines I didn't understand the pain the suffering that they had to go through but I know and I am proud to be Jewish and Native American "this is the home, this is the free land" R.I.P to our ancestors

  • @shadow3951 Well, it depends on what tribe. Not all Native Americans are the same. Different tribes have different cultures and different ways of thinking. Some tribes like the Apache were warriors and not so peaceful.

  • @shadow3951 not all of them, there were some very warmongering tribes, that plundered even before the europeans landed, but you are right they are and were not savages. imo, the "invaders" were the savages.

  • My 2nd Daughters name is supposed to be native American. Both my girls are so kind, beautiful and sweet.

  • @o0siuyin0o You do mean Chinese guy not Chinese gay (transexual)

  • @o0siuyin0o awwww

  • Venessa Williams sings this song so amazingly :)

  • Being a Chinese , I really admire American's culture , and their talents , passion to singing .I can feel their soul are combined in the songs. Unlike some chinese just sing for money , can't exactly feel what their feelings is.

  • @hotstar2006 Like she didn't do this for money...

  • Beautiful!!!! I wanted to tear up.....

  • @tall32guy she didn't sing oh how the years go by....wasn't that Amy Grant? :) not sure...just asking...

  • i love this song so heartwarming :) <3

  • @carlarox221 EXACTLY

  • Beautiful Song...Native Americans lived in harmony with the land. And look what they've done to it now. Sad...

  • Does anyone know the song she does that starts with kind of a jazzy horn riff? I thought it was "Oh How the Years Go By" but I listened to a couple postings of it and neither of them had the horns in it...

  • The way we all should live.

  • 1:28 The Blue Porn Moon

  • This is very beautifully done
