  • Thanks for the upload, Lotus. I remember the NASA animations just like yesterday. I also remember an episode of "The Greatest American Hero" using those animations to depict a failed shuttle mission. Jeez, now I feel old!

  • Instead of orbiting the earth for 32 years, we could have had bases on the moon and mars.

  • I remember this morning well. Reporter Roy Neal and I were close friends and I was talking to him via ham radio -- car to car -- as he was on his way to Edwards AFB and I was on my way to my job in Chattsworth CA. He said to make certain to watch because if this flight was successful it would truly be the beginning of a new era. And it was!
