quick question. i read the above comment and it said that there under 1K. i manly play jazz (walking bass lines and melodies) and i was wondering does this bass sound good for that?
Are you on facebook, this so funny my main bass is a custom 7-string, (fretted) and my fretless 5-string,is a75 jazz copy. If you are interested, send me a friend request-search for Charles Owen----BTW---------excellent tone and Technique.

Ibanez is making a Bass/Guitar Hybrid for a 7-string, it has bass pickups and guitar pickups, so either way you can do both, but I'm looking for more of a guitar/bass combination instrument that has bass strings and guitar strings all in one like the Santucci Treble Bass Guitar
man i love your right hand...i began bass and i learnt the wrong way......the small finger is in a straight position..your fingers in the left hand are awesome....very good.... ;)
get a 5 or a 6 string. 7 would be too big a jump, i mean getting to grips with a 6 string is fun enough (without being overly complicated). i say go for a 6 string, 5 strings are kinda limiting
Go 1 bigger to start off: more to get used to the thickness of the neck and also the versatility of the added notes. Then as your hands gets comfier, continue to progress upward. If you've got a Guitar shop near you, try them out in stages, until you find one you're comfiest with, then you won't end up with a bass you can't play due to cramping, etc.
well my friend has a 5 string and i hardly notice the difference i can play it just fine but ive never played a six string but i think that might be a big difference idk . .. but good point
well ive noticed when playing 6 strings that its really not that much of a stretch for me, ive played up to 8 strings now and 7 is a big difference but i have big hands so 6 strings is actually pretty comfortable id like to go with a 6 but with prices and all that i think ill end up with a 5
I went from a 4 to a 6 and I absolutely love it. I play 7 string guitar so I needed that lower string but the higher really allows you to go to new heights. I def. want a 7 some day once I save enough money.
Awesome video! I'm surprised there hasn't been more feedback...just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to feel comfortable playing a 7 string? I'm thinking about getting a Conklin 7 String or another Warwick...but I haven't seen any in any stores near me, so I haven't really played on one.
Oh, alright, cool. Also, how comfortable is it playing notes on the E and B? I've played a few six strings and I've never had any problems, but I was just curious if its a little bit of a stretch or if it's not really much of a difference. Thanks again for answering my questions!
cool, nice palying, great bass, I've been wondering, is it worth it to buy a 7_String bass, I've had ppl tell me that its lame and overkill ect. what do you think?

As I say, it's just getting used to the extra width, spacing of the strings, and the extra scales. Should be easy enough though.
But oh, what I would give for a 7-stringer. lol

go 5 string, dont do anything tht ur not prepared for, go to a shop and pick up a few 5 or even 6 strings,

Dude, check out some of the ESP Ltd models.
They make some really nice 5 and 6 string models. Really affordable and the quality you get is VERY good for your money.

How much does a 7-string cost, medium?
TiedInChains 2 years ago
You can get a great deal on a 7 string
conklin groove tools model. Under 1K.
This is perfect if you have never tried 7
string bass.

Thanks, I play for 4 string bass, but I'm thinking on strarting to play with some more strings, someday, but thanks :)

What is the standard tuning of a 7-string bass?
JordanForester1969 3 years ago
From low to high -
B E A D G C F
funkybe 3 years ago
thats the same tuning as dropping down a 6 or 5 string just the extra low B above the E
vampuricmonky 2 years ago
@funkybe could you put a low F# under the B? and make F# B E A D G C???
sirduckfuck 1 year ago
@sirduckfuck ya you can do that
thecrashinghighways 1 year ago
is that a custom?
fretlessphantom2000 3 years ago
yes. custom conklin sidewinder circa 1998
funkybe 3 years ago
did you commission it or did you but it off of somebody else?
fretlessphantom2000 3 years ago
Very nice playing. That is my dream bass (a Spector Euro 5 LX comes in at a close second).
MisanthropicWinds 3 years ago
If you get a Conklin, get a custom. I pile of wood sounds better than any "GT" Be warned though...they are heavy basses.
lawlessamazon 3 years ago
Are you nuts?!
My gt7 sounds incredible.
But you know what they say!
It's not the bass, it's the player.
MarkWilson1987 3 years ago
where can you purchase a custom?

I went from 5 to 7. Physically it is not
much of a difference. The hard part is
learning where everything is.
The conklin 7 string basses are by
far the best value for a first time ERB
purchase.

It can be an issue on some ERBs if they have a wide string spacing. If the bass as 17mm spacing you should be find. A thin neck profile also helps.
funkybe 3 years ago
As long as you're making great music the number of strings or brand of the bass is all personal preference..
