  • Will it run MineCraft??

  • @StuffAllTech I doubt it (it might if you set view distance to tiny and graphics to fast)

  • It will be a killer smb server!!!

thanks I look forward to get one (or two)

  • i saw somebody running quake 3 on the RPi at full HD, with a smooth framerate. any ideas how he would have got it working? and what os he may have used?

  • @YairGeva7 technically, yes, but make sure that the particular Class 10 card is actually compatible before spending anything on one, as not all cards are...

  • This will make a fine newcs cardserver!

  • what class SD card is that pi running on?

will it benefit from a class 10 card?

  • This is absolutely not a device for schooling. It's more like a ubiquitous computing device.

  • @Chrislod What makes you say that chris? :)

  • Did you have to compile that distro?

  • @chucknorris687 - It's based on the Fedora ARM secondary architecture build. The build farm for Fedora ARM is hosted at Seneca, and there are lots of participants from many different places involved in that initiative.

  • I'm seriously considering doing a modification for my car! only downside is I'd need to buy a mobile internet dongle to get internet on the go!

  • @Sudstah if you have a smartphone, just use that with wifi tethering.

  • @bmw2go11 If you had a smartphone, you would not need a raspberry pi....

  • @linagee

...if you could connect an hdmi cable, external HDD, keyboard, and mouse to your phone.

  • @linagee yes but you can put a full Linux distro on their clearly you don't know much about computers

  • Have you considered building the SPICE-protocol-client ? I noticed on the site in the download section there is a N900 build. So I guess an ARM build is supported.

  • Hello. You should really try to make your own distro for this. Or just sell only a hw. Its for geeks so keep it for geeks. I don't think FEDORA is optimized for this nor ubuntu...take a look into this : gcc optimizations like sep, pro police , selinux, static linked binaries...this slows down system for such device. Also i would use uclibc and so...

  • I hope RiscOS will be ported to it.

  • Want.

  • Want.

  • Yes. Awesome. I'm into Fedora right now so when the Raspi is released I know what I'll be running on it.

I, too, would have liked to see some of the performance, though.

  • But how is the application performance? is it usable for

e.g. text editing in abiword or is it too sluggish?

How fast is it when you move aroud windows?

Please tell us or better make another video showing that.

  • @Ti1m4n Application performance is reasonable, but the 2D video performance is still weak (we're working on it). I'll try to post a longer video showing application/GUI performance in the near future.

  • fedora-release Fedora 13 (Goddard)? Isn't it supposed to be 15?

  • Fedora 15 for ARM with Gnome3?

  • @hendrikwiersma - I think the gnome3 memory footprint will be too big, but we'll see. Gnome3 is up and running on larger-memory ARM systems.

  • @christylerindeed why not xfce or LXDE?

  • @eatbetter We're using LXDE here. XFCE also runs; both ere better suited to the RasPi's memory size.

  • @christylerindeed ". The GUI is LXDE;" in the description, I feel stupid now.

  • OH MY GOD I CAN'T WAIT YEEEESSSSS
