@beeroosterm, you know nothing about music, so go back to your Britney Spears music and leave real talent alone. You are either very young, or incredibly ignorant about music
My friends, I wish I could have the pledger of seeing this man play live. This is a very talented man. Not to say his music sound good because I'm a western person. His music doesn't sound like western music, just because we gravitate to it. When I first start to listen to Africa music it was the Mali music I like the most.Vieux Farka Toure is very Mali music to me. I love Mali music, all of it.
music is universal and i am overjoyed to be able to hear such beauty all around the world-...between ali,his son and habib koite,i am lucky enough to now know such great music all around the world-
Derek Bell of the Chieftains once stated that if cultures could get together and understand each other's music, there would be so much less fighting and problems in the world (not an exact quote; a paraphrase). This performance honors that spirit--a Malian musician paying homage to the musical heroes of the culture for which he is performing. Beautiful.
Amazing guitarist, as was his father - the Great Ali Farka. Quite different sounding musicians, but they can both make some awesome uplifting sounds :-D
I never knew this guy was exist untill I watched the movie (UNFAITHFULL).He is one of those musicians, you listen to them once and you become in love with their music.I am Glad that we both from the same continent..

Is it any wonder that Africa would take "Blues" and "get it" then take it to another level. I am insane for this sound.
CyCoChili 2 years ago
Blues is african at the origin, travelled to America, matured, and then inspired African Roots. The full Circle!

I think it would be more acurate to say that your limited musical outlook prevented you from appreciating it.
