  • Cute Kid.

  • What is the guys name at 8:53?

  • My mom had a fire in her house on Christmas eve years ago

My grandma left a burning candle on the dining room table; it tipped over and burned the table and ceiling my grandfather put out fire w extinguisher

It took a week for all the smoke to disappear from everyones' noses

  • I am Approx 94Mi NNW of Wichita Kansas I can hear their Police, Fire and EMS Dispatch on my Scanner.. interesting.. it hits close to home...

  • A word of warning this is a prime example of my point.. Those real Christmas trees are Extremely flammable and once the Sap catches up.. it is like a tender box.. We use the same wood in our fireplaces.. While real Christmas trees may smell good and be more authentic, If you get one make absolutely sure it is well watered.. if not.. get a flame retardant one from the local department store.. they even have Scented ones now that smell like the real thing.. All different colors shapes and sizes.

  • Looks like his ears are certainly big enough - she should've dragged him out of the house by them.

  • I would have grabbed that little boy by his shoulders and shook him and told him, "Look, if we don't get out of here, we are going to die, so bring your narrow lil' ass on here!"

  • i wouldve beat the hell out my child or pulled em out of the bed wtf.. that lil boy pissed me off... scary lil punk

  • @cindeemarie85 lol i was thinking the same thing i would of smack him an grabbed him out from under the bed , or threw the bed to the side an grab him an carrey his ass out

  • Wow I'm 13 years old and yet I am the only one who makes the fire safety plans!

  • its always good to be prepared. im a mom and a wife and 4 dogs i consider my children as well. We have fire extinguishers and a plan. My husband thinks im obsessed but i know im not.

  • @MrProudiam good job. i have a fire extinguisher too

  • I'm sorry if this sounds mean, but first, I would have lifted the bed off it's frame instead of trying to reason with a frightened 2 yr. old. Second- if he was pulling and kicking me in that situation, a firm smack on the butt, and telling him straight: we need to leave- knock it off! it may have been the way the episode reenacted it, but a serious lack of common sense seemed to take place here.

  • @22aquinn i know i would of done the same

  • @22aquinn Amen to that! He needed his little butt whipped and then brought out of that house.

  • how did the fire start?

  • after i watched this, i looked at my christmas tree that i was still setting up. thumbs up if you are afraid to deccorate your christams tree! :/

  • i would have pulled his ass out from under the bed

  • I would have yanked the kid out from under the bed the first time after he said I" don't want to go". In that kind of life or death situation, where time is of the essence, there is no time for any kind of empathy or coaching. Had she have done that the likely hood for injury would have been significantly reduced.

  • @StreamingKnowledge Not necessarily. If you don't know the best way to hold a victim while bringing him out of the house then what happened in the segment, the kid suddenly being separated from her, will occur.

I was a firefighter. That's how I know not to take them by one hand or foot; b/c the likelihood of losing them on the way out is multiplied by at least 80%.

If you can only take them by a limb, then using a rope to tie around the arm or leg is more effective than pulling them by one.

  • that little kid was a dumass or was he scuicidal because he wanted to stay in the burning house >:(

  • Ohmigod those poor people!

  • They should have dragged the little kid out there by force which would have been painful for the boy, but not as bad as what happened to him.

  • Damn! Hous burn down on christmas! THAT SUCKS!

  • That Episode Happened 18 years ago, If I was that young girl, I would give that boy such a smack on the bottom, and I would run out of the house, with that kid in my arms.

  • Are Terri's 3 stepdaughters wearing glasses or just 2 of them?

  • He looks like a super-hero in his compression mask. Or pro-wrestler Mysterio!

  • 1:08 I don't know if it would've worked but had they had a multipurpose fire extinguisher they could've probably put the fire out since it was still in the ignition phase and hadn't yet spread beyond it's ignition point

  • @snakes3425 A Dry-chem extinguisher will put a tree/wood/paper fire out initially, but being so hot it will often re-ignite quickly (speaking from experience). A class A extinguisher (water) will do the job well though. That's why a dry-chem will have a high rating for class B & C fires, but much lower for class A. Always keep both on hand.

  • @snakes3425 An industrial halon fire extinguisher would have wiped that out with no problem if you caught it in time but the problem is most of the time when a christmas tree catches fire the whole room becomes fully involved in seconds and a fully involved room reaches at least 1800 degrees f.So even if you're next to the tree when it starts,by the time you run to get the extinguisher from where it's stored the whole room will be fully involved by the time you get back to it.

  • Th mask also helps reduce scarring. Body gloves are also worn by burn victims for the same reason.

  • wow this is intense.

  • Poor baby!!

  • I have a 5 year old little bro and this episode scares the living fuck out of me. I've told him over and over again that if there is a fire you go outside and go to the neighbor's house ASAP. I'm scared out of my mind that something like this may happen to him.

But i'm so thankful that this little boy survived. You should always check your electrical wires and outlets to reduce the chances that this will happen.

  • I'm crying. :( this was so sad!!

  • i woulda been really mean and left him if he was being so fucking difficult to rescue either that or punched him unconcious so i could carry him

  • what episode is it at the end where the person was at the front door needing help & the lady realized the voice was coming from in the house?

  • @iiloveeyouu93 Chimney Trapped Crook? I think.

  • Im really sorry but somehow this boy freaked me out. Should be thankfull to have a sister like that.

  • Apparently it's dangerous to set a dry conifer tree on fire because they practically combust like gasoline...

  • flashover and a backdraft, lucky there were no casualties...

  • @NJS1726

Actually it was a flashover, Backdrafts occur when oxygen is reintroduced to a fire that is burning in an oxygen deprived environment. Flashovers occur when all the fuel in the room, including the air reach ignition temperature, normal glass explodes when it reaches a certain temperature

  • im srry but all i can think of is a gimp when i see the kid with that mask on

  • I think id yank that kid out knowing we were minutes from death of smoke inhalation

  • watch out for electricity it will catch you by surprise

  • that little kid was kind of annoying

i feel like most kids would want to stay with an older person in a scary situation

  • he was. lol. i remember when i was a kid, my mom tried to get me out of the way becuase there was a snake near us. i acted just like the little boy. she finally picked me up and carried me away. when we were safe she slapped me a few times. lol.

  • Oh poor kid i would run in and get him.

  • wow! I used to watch this as a kid in the early 90s...

  • why wud a kid wanna stay in a burning house?

  • @wadyano, Because he was just a baby and was too young to understand the danger.

  • @DanteLacey21 i know but its still hot and scary. when things are loud and scary most kids would do anything to be where mommy is.

  • Unfourtunately, it's not uncommon for firefighters to find the bodies of deceased children under beds, in toy boxes, closets, etc. A small child will generally opt for the familiar in a crisis, no matter what the situation is. A fire kindled by a dry Christmas tree will reach flashover conditions much more rapidly than normal. Finally, the mask that the little boy was wearing is a pressure garment designed to reduce scarring.

  • Pull him from under the bed...

  • Dec. 19... my birthday.....

  • spontaneous combustion?

  • k first off idiots like ash3227 and theman10189 need to be banned the moment they make a stupid comment. for god's sake the kid was only 2 and he was scared! child haters and beaters don't belong on youtube. k i'm done now i can say i'm glad the family got out alive. i miss this show

  • Why did he have to wear that purple mask after his face and hands were healed?

  • as soon as I got that little boy out of the house id smack him so hard

  • @ash3227 plus he got burned so its his fault

  • guys in trucker hats usually know what to do

  • How bad was the fire?

  • I remember hearing about this on the news (KWCH) in Wichita.

  • the kid says no and the stupid just asking, c'mon we have to come out, lol stupid just drag him out. that is what u should have done not ask for premition

  • I'm pretty sure that the purple mask and gloves were worn to prevent and/or lessen the appearance of scar tissue.

  • i understand the kid was prob terrified, but as a big sister how could you let a two yr old out power you and get away, especially when he wants to go back into a burning house? yank the damn kid out from under the bed. the time to be sweet "c'mon dustin" has passed. the ckick would rather die in there with her bro then grab him and pull him out by force and run out. holding his hand, no...hold him in your arms and run like hell. this episode just made me mad, how stupid

  • @Goodie8486 As I was saying earlier she most likely needed both hands to open the door,The reenactment most likely didn't happen exactly like it did in real life.First of all they probaly couldn't see because of all the smoke and heat and because they were both scared.

  • I don't recall the information about the heater running in the house causing the fans to run and the fire spreading further. We when saw the tree on fire, we all ran for the back door. When we opened the door the oxygen hitting the fire caused it to grow quickly. Dustin was burned when the curtains essentially blew up. I am happy to say that today Dustin is 22 years old and doing great. It was a very scary time for all of us. To this day I will never again have a live Christmas tree in my house.

  • @valleydawn i always say "i wonder what those people are doing today" when i watch these old shows. im glad to hear youre all doing well.myself,my mother and 2 brothers were also in a bad fire in 1983 where we were tossed out a second story window into a blanket heled by neighbors.thankfuly no one was hurt, but it is a very scary thing to go through.

  • @valleydawn I could be wrong, the story that I read from firehouse magazine was in your area and it might have been a different house altogether but it was one about a tree and those infamous Federal Pacific circuit breakers. But they did mention about someone being seriously burned in the story I read.I would never have a live tree in my house either.dont get me wrong they're beautiful and smell good but they're too dangerous especially if you have children.

  • @valleydawn Hey, I'm glad your little brother is doing great and I'm sorry for any offensive comments you may have seen on the comments of this video. We're you the first older sister who spotted the fire on the tree?

  • Wow - I haven't seen this video in a while. I would like to start out by saying that my name is Dawn and this was my family and my little brother who was burned. I haven't read all of the comments but there were a few that stuck out right away. 1st - the mask and gloves that Dustin had to wear were so that the burns would heal with as minimal scarring as possible. They helped but he still have some scarring. 2nd - he hid under his bed because he was scared.

  • @valleydawn Glad to hear he's doing good, trust me it's no fun having to go through those kind of injuries,I work at a Glass manufacturing plant where I live and I've been burned by hot molten glass, just minor burns but it was bad enough to feel it for weeks so I can imagine and being a volunteer firefighter I've seen my share of burn victims.Glad to hear you're all doing good!

  • I wonder what caused the fire.

  • @ZMommaL56 watch the video again it says it on there....

  • @hookerdreamz I found out. It was caused by an electric short in the Christmas lights.

  • he looks like a ninja

  • i love watching these vidios thank you so much for putting these up! is rescue 911 out on dvd??? please replyyy

  • @sianyroxyajox1 No, it's not on DVD.

  • @allgood2000 what do u mean no?

  • @allgood2000 but they must have an archive right.

  • @allgood2000 boooooo

    DVD!!!!

    DVD!!!!

    DVD!!!!

  • @allgood2000 - hey, you should create the DVD's yourself and sell them through a website - I'm pretty sure you'd have a lot of sales!! :)

  • @TheNerdSauce Great idea, but then the company that owns the rights would sue him (for selling a DVD that they would never bother to release.) Typical corporate greed.

He could upload them to pirate bay though.....

  • @sianyroxyajox1 yes it is

  • I think plastic trees wuld be safer... with a fire extinguisher...

And just PULL him out, moron, you wouldn't fear dying if you just RAN out.

At least tell him that he's gonna perish if he stays...

  • @super58173

I understand you, but try to imagine his point of view. He's scared to the point of panicking. To telling him more threats of dying would've just made it more worse. I think encouragement would have worked better, things like telling him to gather his courage and be brave or something.

But yeah, I woulve have pulled him out and yelled. Just out of instinct.

  • @Nintendoggy - I don't like being harsh to kids, but I can end up being blunt in dangerous times. Sure, encouragement is good, but most of us would have quickly fummbled under the bed and grabbed the kid.

  • They should´ve explained to him inmediately he´ll just burn up or die if he tries to stay put in the room.

Personal belongings or feelings for your house should not be on any sort of priority for this situation.

  • @Im1man Do you really think that a 2 year old is going to understand the rationality of burning up and dying if he stays in his room?

  • If a kid is acting like that in a emergency like this you need to slap him across the face or something to have something else to to concentrate about.

If a kid is concentrated on pain while he´s frustrated hell think about the pain and it´ll give you a edege while he loses focus on wanting to go back.

  • this is one of my favorite shows

  • or you keep a lot of water under the real tree so it doesnt dry out and cause a fire hazard then take it out when it does start to dry out and die.

  • She was so stupid i would have moved the bed and grapped the kid and jumped out the window not go to the front door she was so stupid.

  • I would plz like a responce but why do they wear those masks if they r burned or on there hands and Body like Dustin Has A Purple Rubber Mask And Little Purple Hand Gloves..? i dont understand why..

  • @RandomShowable I think those are to keep the burns from getting infected.

  • @allgood2000 i think its also to help with the pain because burns are still very painful loooooong after you are burned. cuz of all the skin grafts and the affect it has on your body.i could be wrong tho.

  • @allgood2000 and to keep the swellingfrom going up.

  • @allgood2000 i think its more like to keep his skin from melting off of his body. That sounds really bad...but i think thats what it for. But it may be to keep them from not getting infected.

  • @RandomShowable to reduce scarring

  • @RandomShowable Its to cool the burns down and to reduce the risk of infection

  • @RandomShowable - I thought he was a robber, but people with burns may wear things like that.

  • @RandomShowable Infection control. Also, to keep him from scratching or rubbing.

  • @RandomShowable To keep the spread on infection, and the mask is a compression mask to keep the scarring to a minimum.

  • @RandomShowable The purple mask and gloves are pressure garments, they are elastic. They keep pressure on the burned areas so that the scar tissue doesn't become thick and prevent movement. They are usually used after any open areas of the skin have healed.

  • @RandomShowable the have a special gel inside that cools and protects and also helps reform the newly placed skin.

  • @RandomShowable prevents infections

  • @ghost watcher hes a kid kid are gonna be like that u moron

  • thank you to all the firefighters all over the world that risk their lives everyday to save another life. i am proud to be one of them and all of them are my brothers and we save lives even if we dont know who they are.

  • That was the saddest thing ever = " (

  • Maybe he should of listened too his sister.?! Even though he was 2 come on. Really... Ugh.

  • 512 is the best episode!

  • How did da tree catch on fire in the first place?

  • @krazykandy123 weren't you paying attention? It was an electrical short in the christmas lights.

  • @shadowwolfz Aw Lover. Dear Dear Lover! I don't rlly care about the little details they say like that. So I guess not. I don't listen to wat they say I just watch the problems and go to another video

  • That kid wanted to be a chicken and hide from the fre in his room and he wound up paying the price.

  • @IAmNotAFunguy You are stupid. He was only two and he was afraid. He felt safe in his room. How was he supposed to know what would happen?

  • scary :{

  • Wow thats so sad. :(

  • How did the fire start? Weird.

  • Really ! Your seeing things or sumthing ? WTH

  • I used to watch this show everytime it was on when I was little... I was only 5 at the time...

  • I know he's little, but Dustin was a dweeb! Although, I guess that's unfair. He didn't understand what was going on.

  • what's the episode shown next?

  • @dawnhill1967 "Chimney Trapped Crook"

  • Flashover, shit that's brutal...but as most endings go in Rescue 911, everyone got out :)

  • @PLINGMAN777777 Tell me about it,I've fought fires in buildings that burned alot worse then this one did and believe me this was nothing compared to it,We had a tank of formaldehyde explode in a barn that we were in and people heard it from a mile away, the sound made my ears ring for hours ugh! lucky we were ordered out before it exploded.

  • 0:55 If I were there at the time, I would have ran to the kitchen, grabbed a pan, turned the sink tap on full, filled the pan and would have began immediately throwing water at the fire.

  • @triton115 then you'd probably get electrocuted because water conducts electricity and the fire was cause by a short in the lights.

  • @triton115 That wouldn't have helped, for one you wouldn't have been able to get that close to the tree because of the intense heat and also the water would have evaporated and turned to steam before it got to the fire.

  • @triton115 If you had been in the house with us at the time you would have been in so much shock that you wouldn't have even thought about grabbing a pan of water. Not to mention that the entire tree was on fire - a small pan of water would have done no good at all. It's easy to say what you would do in a situation until you are acutally in that situation.

  • @valleydawn If I were sitting in front of the christmas tree when the tree lights first popped and the first flames appeared, I would have been able to douse it with a pan of water. If I did it when the whole tree was engulfed, it wouldn't have any effect. But if I did it when the fire was still small, it would have been out with probably as little as a couple of splashes of water from the pan.

  • @triton115 First of all, none of us were actually in the living room when the fire first started. The video even says how the rest of us were in other parts of the house. Second, have you ever seen a Christmas tree burn? They go up so fast that there is no way to stop it. I hope this never happens to you. If it does, I hope you can be the hero you think you are.

  • @valleydawn What if one kept the tree properly watered, or just used an artificial tree? That would at least considerably slow down a Christmas tree fire, wouldn't it? And if the spread is slowed down enough or even contained, it could then be extinguished with a few splashes of a pan of water, I would assume. And in fact, fires are the exact reason that I wish my parents would use the old artificial tree in our garage.

  • @valleydawn In fact, one night my parents were cooking dinner when suddenly, thick heavy smoke started belching from the oven. And the first thing I did was reached right in the cabinet and grabbed a 6 inch pan, and I stood right by the sink, one hand holding the pail, one hand on the faucet handle, ready to fill the pan with water and throw water right into the oven on sight of the first flames.

  • @valleydawn Luckily, the culprit was some olive oil at the bottom of the oven, but still, not until the last of the smoke was cleared from the kitchen did I put down that pan!

  • @triton115 In your case you did the right thing. I am really glad for you guys that your situation didn't end up any worse. Fire is a scary thing that can quickly consume everything. It's always good to be prepared. We know that now. We learned some hard lessons. We always made the sure tree was watered. Sometimes bad things just happen no matter how many safeguards we have in place. The things that happen to us shouldn't be used to define us.

  • @valleydawn I very much agree with you. And I was about shaking with fear when I first came up from my basement that one night and saw just how thick the smoke was in the kitchen. It actually looked about like someone had turned on a fog machine in the kitchen!

  • @valleydawn I understand,The reenactments on here are never exactly the same as what happened in real life. These reenactments are based from what was written in the police and fire reports and from some of the witnesses they talk to.Noone but the actual people knows where everyone was at the time.Even some of the names on here are different then in real life to protect identities.

  • @valleydawn You know what? I would have risked my life to save my little brother, too. I'm glad he's ok.

  • @triton115 You wouldn't have had time,Christmas trees burn alot faster in real life they only showed it burning slow so everybody watching the story could see what was going on.By the time you got up,ran to the kitchen, grabbed the pan, filled it with water and got back to the tree, the whold room would be fully involved and you're not doing anything to a fully involved room with a pan of water.I'm not trying to be rude or make you look dumb but by experience the only thing to do is escape.

  • @triton115 if u get baking soda u can put out the flames faster

  • @valleydawn I agree,in situations like you don't have time to think about what to do,watching these videos one would think they do but in real life Christmas trees burn alot faster.I'm a volunteer fire fighter and we test burned one in our burn building.the temperature went from about 45 degreesF to about 1800 degreeF in just a few seconds! Even if you were next to the tree with a bucket of water you wouldn't have time to do anything.

  • Some of you people commenting need to get real.

The boy wasn't hiding under the bed, b/c he was bad. He was hiding, b/c small children think they're safe if they hide from fire. They have no concept of the fact that fire moves, & there's no way to explain it to them. No time.

Yelling at or beating a small child, b/c he thinks he's suppose to hide from a fire is just stupid.

And it pisses me off when people untrained in fire rescue make comments when they have no idea what they're talking about.

  • @vickiormindyb why wudnt he want to go out of the house to his mother?

  • @vickiormindyb I understand what you're talking about sometimes kids don't understand that when a fire happens that they need to get out so sometimes it takes devastating consequences to get them to listen and sometimes it doesn't.

  • @vickiormindyb i just wonder why the kid would do that. usually when something scary is happening kids first instict is to run to mommy

  • @vickiormindyb It wasn't his fault. He's a small child. It was the parents who didn't teach their child what to do in such an emergancy. I would also have to agree with @wadyano because I can remember being very scared at that age and my first instinct was to find Mommy and/or Daddy. Besides, if you look at other animal babies, they know better and run from fire. So I don't think his choice was pure instinct.

  • @vickiormindyb i agree man, im a volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania, we are trained to look under beds and look in closets and places people normally wouldnt be, kids hide anywhere. so if your not a firefighter or trained dont make comments

  • i would have fucking flipped that bed across the room grabbed him and jumped out the window

  • Ok at the point where the kid was saying i'm not going I would have moved the bed, grabbed the stupid kid and and dragged him by his hair out of the house. Then there would be no burns and if there's no burn u can beat the kid and teach him that in a fire u LISTEN to the people trying to help!!

  • did that liltte boy have epilespy

  • @lookyouabigailkriby What? Why would you even ask a question like that?

  • i say leave the little twirp. if he wants to be a fool and hide in his bed let him. he'll pay for his mistake

  • @cilva7 he'll pay...WITH HIS LIFE!

  • @shadowwolfz that's right, the kid will.

  • @shadowwolfz I agree. His sister did the right thing by trying to go in after him.

  • @ 1:30 ......does she say crap? I mean really...that would be the last word I would say. LoL!

  • @surgednb, no she said quick

  • @shadowwolfz I think she said "Chris" (the toddlers' names were Dustin and Chris).

  • @allgood2000 guess it's hard to tell over the roar of the fire.

  • @shadowwolfz That's how we heard when we saw this here on YouTube!

  • @shadowwolfz if you listen closley you can hear yell chris

  • @sonic549515 ok, I heard it this right this time.

  • That kid is so STUPID! I know he's just a baby but my kids knew NEVER to hide from fire when they were two. It's probably the Mom's fault for not teaching him but even a 2-year-old should have enough commen sense to get out and not hide.

  • @SecretService80, You said it yourself, Dustin is just a baby, he's not stupid he's just too young to understand the seriousness of the situation.
