You seem to shot about 600 images for a footage of 1 min. So: If I take an image every second I am through in about 10 minutes and my D90 does not fall into epilepsy, tripod and remote control given? Amazing :)

That's correct, you should be all fine with the D90 on those long runs. I have sometimes shot some 1500 frames and I've seen others shooting up to 7000 frames in one take with the D300, and the D90 should be no exception. You should really look for an intervalometer for your D90 to help you with those tedious timings ;) There's one such as the Opteka timer over at Amazon, I have the exact same time but for the D300, works a charm.
