Era una verdadera delicia "uniformarte" de negro prenda por prenda y salir al gris asfalto y la lluvia en aquellas plomizas tardes de 1990 oyendo a Siouxie and the Banshees
To me, the culmination of alternative music was hearing this coming from the radio of someone's car in South Haven, Michigan. That gave me such a satisfied grin. "Wow, Siouxsie in Small Town America!" Then came Nirvana [sigh].
@CelebrityHotTub it's actually supposed to be "alternative rock" which this is not.. "alternative music" was originally an insult people would say to imply that "alternative rock" was not actually music but an alternative to real music.
The way you try to lump this in with a genre of music that has virtually no similarity is a perfect example of how the average person abuses the system of labeling and generalization established by the music industry.
@desktorp You know alot about labels for someone who wants us to ignore them. I still have this cassette tape by the way. I remember the first time I heard the phrase "alternative" with respect to music. My friends and I took it as this music was an alternative to popular music not real music.
Lyrics are an ode to actress Jayne Mansfield - referring to her catchword "divoon", her heart-shaped swimming pool and her love of champagne and parties, and to the grisly car crash near New Orleans which claimed her life in 1967. Her daughter, actress Mariska Hargitay, was sleeping in the backseat of the car. All 3 kids lived. The car slammed into a truck spraying insecticide which had caused a foggy haze. Kiss Them for Me was also the name of a movie with Mansfield and Cary Grant.
I first heard this on FM radio (not a commercial station) when it was hot off the press in 1991. I bought the "Superstition" LP, the "Kiss Them For Me" 12-inch single, and the "Shadowtime" 12-inch single. (Naturally, in the late 80's I had their "Passenger" 12-inch single.) And yet, until now, I had never seen this film clip. She truly was a vision.
@darla1970 I have listened to this classic a dozen times in a row...a beautiful lady sings a beautiful song..love Siouxsie..you are so right..what happened to music? She is my age now..54.
@darla1970 As much as I love 80s music I actually do think our current time has some great music acts too. You just had to look, just like how people had to look for Siouxsie and the banshees and other 80s alternative groups.
@darla1970 for me, the 70's/80's were the most diverse, interesting, and unique decades as far as music is concerned. why does everything sound the same today to me? guess i'm gettin' old.
@SomethingReal1119 You are right, and The 70s and 80s had some crap and cheese music but mostly great stuff. where now great stuff comes on and you go Whoa!
It is sad that so many comments I read that come from teens and 20somethings on here when I am watching 'my' music, they have the same comments. About how their 'parents music really WAS better like they say' I remember teens in th 80s liking some of their parents time songs. But now its most.
@honest413 yep......Fun factoid. Youtubers Watch the Dear Prudence video. Youll see him. I remember seeing that video as a teen and tripping out on her hairy armpits. haah
I lover her! Saw her in concert two times.. both were epic... soo glad I took her albums out of storage her voice is so eerily pleasant and wonderful.
@pbmonty32 Siouxsie said in an interview that they had the music already but that the music came as inspiration to them from the life of Jane Mansfield.
I love how she looks like a silver screen 1940s star or 'screen siren' here. Refreshingly different at the time I'm sure but possibly her fans wouldn't expect that look when this first came out.
@jrmetmoi that was so true, never expected this look from her back then...lol She LOOKED shockingly conservative at the first Lollapalooza but it was a nice contrast to the backdrop for the performance-a Kama Sutra'esque painting... ; )
This is a very good song. However, it's nothing like the great music they put out before they had a record deal. What a shame. With the lone exception of this song, I can' t really even listen to them. They WERE so good, about 1977 or so. Still, credit where it's due, great song. Only thing worth listening to on the last album of theirs that I'll ever buy (the rest is crap if I've ever heard it), but pretty damn good.
really ? - swimming horses? melt? dazzle? I could go on.
They were great in the early days , no question about that, but they have evolved over the years and still put out some great tracks, though in very different genres. I am not a superfan , but have loved a lot of what they have done over the years - a lot I have not liked either, but dont throw out the baby with the dishwater

I remember this song and those days. I fell in love with the color jet black dye. It turned blueish in the sun. It was awesome! It came in powder form and from the orients. I wish I could find it in a beauty supply shop today. Gotta watch out though when it stains something it's perm but the stain is purple. It is permanent and doesn't fade. You can't get it out once it's in. Real cool dye. I wish to find it again someday. This song inspired me to dye my hair jet black and still my favorite.

I absolutely ADORE Siouxsie Sou and The Banshees
She does look so different without her trademark makeup
but she is still ace after all these years.
Siouxsie and Sade, two of England's BEST exports and still
amongst the sexiest women alive. = ]
HQrip, thanks for posting this love. Cheers! = ]

I much prefer her without the extra makeup and crazy hair. She's quite pretty.

@delonerm Wait what? This is the least amount of makeup I've ever seen on her! She was always "Egyptianized" before.
