  • I love this :D

  • This is the kind of performance that leaves you speechless.

  • So much beauty!!!

  • Such voice Control. U can tell they are classically trained. These brothers don't just sing, they can sang! Are they still performing 2gether? I hear some new guys now have replaced them. How tragic. Perfect chemistry.

  • it just swings doesn't? :-)

  • Nothin but Talent All day all way WOW ..takes ya breath away

  • oh ho ho YHEAAAHHH

  • And joining us in the piano: Black Freddie Mercury!

  • You can get the Three Mo Tenors DVD and also the Cook, Dixon & Young DVD at amazon.com

  • Does any one know where I can buy this show on dvd?

  • @naiokifox I bought it for my grandmother a few years ago at amazon.com.

  • @naiokifox Try the PBS TV store. It aired on PBS during Pledge back in about 2000.

  • this is what i call entertainment

  • Yes. Yes. And YES again. <3

  • Thanks for your answer, and I can sing up there in that register :/

  • Does anyone know what you call that extremely high upper register??? It's not chest, head, or falsetto... any ideas anyone??

  • @osbornd89 Victor has a well developed head voice. That's what it is.

  • @osbornd89 male head voice.

  • @osbornd89 The whistle register, which very few males can go into. Mariah Carey is famous for it. Cook is a "countertenor" meaning he has an extended upper range.

  • @terrythomas0722 and Cook's countertenor is developed head voice, not whistle register

  • Oh, it is spine tingling, NO ONE can match you; Please keep going, it is what America needs. Love you

  • that song gave my a direct soul attack. just pure soul blues

  • WOW thats all i have to say this was amazing first time i ever listened ti to them or this style of misuc ad i love it

  • Three Mo' Tenors? Thats rich. These singers are not even in the class of The Three Tenors yet they use a play of the name. If your going to name a group, go for a bit of originality.

  • @SusanEichhornYoung I've got no clue who they are and am happy to leave it that way. honestly I found this video while searching for other songs by Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti.

  • @SusanEichhornYoung Your right, I don't know who the person you named is. No reason for me to know or to care about him.

  • @senji1101 no reason at all. hope you found what you were looking for!

  • Comment removed

  • @senji1101 That's okay, these Gentlemen have their own originality that's very distinct, unique, authentic and organic. As I see it, everybody isn't going to like everything and everyone will have various tastes. In addition to this, they're doing R & B and other genres of Music that their talents can't be denied.

  • wow!!! it`s so amazing, tremandous and brilliant!!! but i`m very interested in a piano performer, he is very funny XDDDDDDD

  • These are some SANGIN' brothers, right here!!!!!

  • Great!!!!

  • First time I heard this I thought I was gonna jump outta my skin. WOW. And it still has that effect years later.

  • check out his NEWLY ADDED videos of Celeste Aida and Nessun Dorma on youtube!

  • I have already bought 5 copies of this DVD for friends who wanted to "borrow" mine! lol NO WAY, JOSE'!!! GET YOUR OWN!

  • Jospeh Joubert is on the piano. He's incredible.

  • I've always loved when a man can sing in a high pitch!! Love it !!

  • @vanitysadeparis Dang Vanity, if you are cute enough (or sweet enough), I'll have surgery to alter my vocal cords to take me from Barry White to Eddie Kendricks territory!

  • @calwaite Too funny, but original...Love it....LMAO...

  • These guys are some bad brothers.I hope they come back to the chi. for a concert

  • Very good, very very good! Muito bom fiquei até mais feliz depois de ouvir esses caras cantando!!

  • HAHA THE THIRD GUY WAS SINGING SO HIGH! my choir teacher told me to check these guys out. Awesome for sure.

  • Love this group as a whole but I have ALWAYS loved Victor Cook since his Star Search days...he never lost he was there like 13 weeks and won the whole shabang singing There's Blues in The Nght

  • great........

  • Reallynice! Loved it!

  • To put it simple i love the ORIGNAL 3 MO TENORS

  • D'atra Hicks needs to seriously consider a suit, 'cause the 3rd dude totally jacked her sound, and style!!! the other 2 were brilliant-)

  • the first one that sang gave me chillz at 0:43 when he did that run my teacher has this DVD and I love listening to these guys

  • so glad to hear you love this!! Yeah, that run is brilliant!!!

  • Sorry for typos -on my blackberry and typing too quickly!!

  • As most singers realze - the diaphragm is also a reactionary muscle with no nerve endings and no sense of position. It responds to lung expansion. As an international pedagogue I appreciate you have some kind of training but iwas trying to understand your use of language here.

  • Not everyone is drawn to the developed head voice of a countertenor and that is fine! Mr Cook's voice is developed in the classical and west african tradition which gives a very dense fundamental through his range - which is very large! Soft palate is a reactionary reflex and is naturally lifted to sustain pitch that high!

  • i don't like this throaty sound. i think certain voices belong to certain genres. i personally don't like the "screeching" sound that comes from these men forcing their upper registers. the vowels don't have the same life and ability to shape the word. now, they do have beautiful voices, but pleas...let's leave the guttural blues to those who can really do it!!

  • I would like you to explain that more fully - as throaty and guttural tend to be a similar thing in production.

I don't hear any screeching nor do I hear any forcing. However, we are all entitled to our likes/dislikes!

  • @SusanEichhornYoung HI. Well when I say throaty I mean a tense production of a note versus the note being produced on the air that is leaving the body. Sound can be produced two ways....correctly or incorrectly as I am trained. He doesn't appear to have much connection to his diaphragm. His sound doesn't carry well to me. Without a mic he doesn't appear to be able to fill a house. He doesn't he a full belt for this style. There is no "meat" to his voice as I often hear instructors say!

  • thanks! Tone can be produced many ways - and who are you speaking of specifically as there are 3 of them when you say "he"? Each man can fill an opera house without micing - in fact - each has blown out a mic on stage due to the intensity of the core of sound. Your language is till confusing. If you can be more specific, I can address it!

  • @SusanEichhornYoung I guess I would have to hear him, Cook that is who we are addressing, live. I am aware that recordings don't capture all of what the voice offers. Blowing a mic can be done from the power of a voice when a note is produced correctly and it can also be done by too much screaming. We can doctor up and give technical criticism to a voice, but in my opinion Cook is just screaming. Like a baby who needs a bottle. Where is the "root" to his voice. Does it come from his center???

  • Again, the core is there. And I speak from experience - the power of his voice has blown out mics! I've been there to see it happen and hear it!

  • @SusanEichhornYoung And what is confusing about my language. I am speaking from my training. These conversations are held all the time concerning performance and sound. Help me out with your confusion as to what I am saying. Please! I'll check your blog I guess to see where you're coming from. Now there are certain sounds that one must produce in order to emulate the origins of certain genres. Is that what you mean by your claim or statement that style informs tone?

  • The idea of style informing tone means that you sound authentic in that style - so many things go into the knowledge and life a style and the ability to present it. Too much for a youtube comment!!!

  • tense production would reduce not only overtone/undertone but also the fundamental. This is not the case here. Voice production is not an exact science. And he fills a house without ANY amplification!

  • @SusanEichhornYoung I GUESS?!?!? He's lucky to have such a fan!!!!!

  • I wouldn't call myself a fan. I admire his artistry immensely and who he is as a man. Did I say fan? I have no need to be a fan!

  • And as I am not a fan - I AM his voice teacher and coach these gentlemen through their 2nd show for PBS.

  • @SusanEichhornYoung Well darling had you stated that in the beginning, which you really didn't have to-i figured as much really, i would never have continued this convo with you. You helped cultivate the sound that I don't care for, therefore you will always defend it, be your argument objective or no. Have a great day my dear. AND THE BAND SCREEEEEEECHED ON!!!

  • sure you did! of course you couldn't continue a conversation you have no knowledge of....and if you HAD knowledge you would know THE SINGER cultivates the voice, the teacher does not! I am not defending anything - I have pedagogical knowledge of voice - and of course you have nothing more to say because you truly have no understanding. Good luck in your day job!

  • and simply you are entitled to your opinion - everybody has one! You are still entitled to it. My opinion is based on being a professional in this business for 30 years. Mr. Cook has made his living in this business his entire life. Please tell us who you are and your superior training and what YOU do for a living - would love to know! Again - liking or disliking a sound doesn't mean a thing - other than a simple opinion. Enjoy your evening!

  • @SusanEichhornYoung I am a student about to enter into graduate school. I have never spoken against his accomplishments and I never will. I am trained differently. I do not care to become as petty as to stoop with you. I'm glad you're a household name...that speaks nothing of how I feel about someone's voice. And your experience does not mean you are a brilliant teacher. There are tons of people charging for lessons just to have their pupils sound like screeeeeching alley cats!!!

  • congratulations! Keep studying! No stooping or petty on my part - just responding to the language. Perhaps you didn't mean how it came across? I didn't realize I was a household name! Again - you are completely entitled to what you like or dislike and I haven't heard ANY screeching by ANY of these gentlemen. Again - as you have said - it is a matter of what you like. I simply speak from pedagogical knowledge.

  • and good luck with your grad studies - where are you going and who are studying with? Good luck - I hope it is very successful and you find what you are looking for!

  • @couturesixfour This is a blues song but the third guy "took it to church" so to speak. It was more of a gospel style. So "screaming" to you is "squalling" for us. It's just apart of that genre. Most who have not been exposed to it don't understand it.

  • As another black man I'm wonderfully proud that Mr. Cook has made a living in the arts. It is very hard for us to make it . I know that & that is why I am continuing my education, but my youth has nothing to do with the validity of my opinion. I never attacked your opinion as something that is untrue, I just spoke on our differences. You have decided to base me with your accomplishments. How many stars, um...are you a household Broadway name...NO, have come and gone! What remains is their name!!

  • Congratulations! Youth has nothing to do with anything - except lack of experience which you will gain. Not sure what the rest of your post meant, so I can't comment on that...

It IS hard to make a living as a singer PERIOD. As a black tenor it is EXTREMELY difficult. You deal with so much in your way. We need to lift each other up and respect the development and the choices and the longevity and not belittle it.

  • @SusanEichhornYoung Why so?

  • sorry Thkmra - do not know what you are referring to - can't find the comment!

  • @SusanEichhornYoung Lol You stated that not only is hard being a singer, being a tenor is even harder..so how so?

  • I think that was in regard to being a black singer in the business and a black tenor - in opera. There is still a great deal of racism in the business and the black tenor has a very interesting climb to deal with this as his voice is the leading man and many are still not comfortable with that.

  • @SusanEichhornYoung It's intresting that you are highlighting the struggles of Black tenors in the business, and not soley Black vocalist in opera period. Is that in contrast -to say a Baritone?

  • the reason is in relationship to these gentlemen in this video - all tenors and all black. Black singers in opera all have struggles indeed - the tenor in particular because of the roles they play - leading men that get the girl...opera still has a problem with a black man and white woman! Baritones play different roles - often villians, fathers etc. Not the same aesthetic.

  • And an artist will always defend another artist's choices - whether they agree with them or not. I am able to make a very objective observation about voice, because that is what I do for a living! Liking/disliking is just that.

  • (the rest of the post didn't post) - like/dislike is simply like/dislike - and one is entitled to that too. HOW it is informed is usually the key.

  • and I didn't say I was his teacher THEN. I said I AM his teacher and worked with the gentlemen their 2nd PBC special...obviously you didn't read that, or perhaps it didn't post. Obviously sound is established and developed by a singer. The teacher is the guide. Ultimately, the singer makes the final choice.

  • are these the original ones?

  • it certainly is!

  • love this. I got to see them perform, but it was a different three. loved it anyway :D

  • well if you saw a different three then it wasn't the ORIGINAL 3mt!

  • One of my favorites out of the whole DVD :)

They sing with so much passion! Everytime we have guest over, my grandparents bring out their DVD as a choice of entertainment and I always sing along!

  • Very over the top

  • You and your friends are entitled to your opinions, but opinions mean nothing without an educated understanding of which you speak. If you can't back up your statements, they are truly meaningless. I wish you well. Your outstanding ignorance is only usurped by your overwhelming arrogance! Bravo for trying to be special! I am done here - if you feel the need to contact me, please do so through my website. CD&Y's fans can go back to enjoy this video. Happy holidays!!! Thanks for the good laugh!

  • The gentlemen still sing together - but all are pursuing personal and individual projects. Their Spiritual CD Triptych is available through CdBaby!

Thanks for posting this video again! Great to keep these men out there to learn from and enjoy!

  • Does God love a fool? You would know wouldn't you? Wow, the arrogance is mind-boggling here!

Too bad your ears don't tell you anything - no screaming. This is the THIRD time in about 5 years this video has been put up and it's had many hits. Relax sweetheart - some of us do this for a living and have a body of work to prove that. You need to keep looping -so please do so. And if you had any integrity, you'd email me through my website and be a man (!) about your rudeness.

  • and of COURSE you looked me up...lol - going for BBQ at place that plays the blues outside Memphis doesn't make you an expert. Your lack of respect and utter rudeness shows your foolishness, and your ridiculousness. It's so easy to hide behind an anonymous online name - but your stupidity reads volumes!!!! I stand behind my work and my expertise. What do you have?

  • And ricki/ricardo that's directed to you.glad you have 2 degrees. Hope it comes in handy someday! Like I said you don't always know who you are speaking to anonymously but I am more than happy to share with you who I am so you know precisely who made those comments - and I stand by them. There is no screaming in this video. Blues are a tradition and that tradition is realized here, in voice and dramatic temperament.

  • Actually I was using a colleague's youtube account but have restored my own and am using my own name. Didn't want Kitten to have to deal with responses that were to me! So I deleted them. Feel free to google me - it is always easy to snicker behind an anonymous post!

  • Kittiestop -

Why is the author deleting all of your comments, sugar? Guess who the fool is now, eh? Snicker, snicker!

BTW - I'm far from being a fool. I graduated from college and hold 2 degrees. Google "you" and you will find that there are less college graduates. In fact, much less college graduates. Get my drift? Hope so! But then, I doubt it. A fool and her senses are never far from each other.

  • what? no response?????? looked me up yet???

  • Well, I looked you up, LOL! It always tickles me when someone opens their mouth up a little too wide and gets their foot stuck in it. Well played maam!

  • glad you enjoyed it - notice the troll is nowhere to be seen!!! lol

  • Cook Dixon & Young have a great spiritual album on CDBaby that was released last year. Of course they each have their own projects too. Marvellous solo work, grammies, Tony nominations et al.

  • Another thing, kittiestop - look at their view count. Only 26,000+ views. Worse-sounding groups than 3 Mo Tenors have more views. Doesn't that kind of tell you something, sugar?

I think the famous quote comes into mind after seeing ignorance from you ... "it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Like I said earlier, "God loveth a fool."

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, kittiestop. You're really showing those TRUE colors, eh? Bet you even have your hands on those huge hips, eh? Do I need to do research? When you hear someone singing and their in concert, do you actually do research on them just to know if you wanna go see them in concert or not? If stupid were music sugar, you'd be a symphony. And who I am speaking to? Yet another set of huge lips flapping, but nothing sensible coming out, as usual. Do you have a drive-by you need to tend to?

  • i love three mo tenors! my favorte one is love train!

  • Timgrez - you want to slap the shit out of anyone who doesn't like the video? Please. Besides showing your TRUE colors, what else do you wanna do? Pop a cap in the your hood because someone actually looked at your weave the wrong way? Please ...

  • Kittenstop. What? I have no idea what I'm talking about? Please, sugar. I was born outside Memphis, Tennessee, and my friends and I used to visit barbecue places and other restaurants who had "the blues."

Since you seem to know a lot about me and what I like and don't like (and since you believe I don't know what I'm talking about), please tell me if you like the red Polo shirt I am wearing. Get my drift, sugar?

    God loveth a fool!

  • I'm a pianist, and I can tell you that

1: It's really hard to play what he is playing

2: He's grooving like hell, which is some you do with your whole body.

He's not stealing the spotlight, he's making music.

    yeez

  • WeRTenors, Dixon, Cook & Young, were the original Three Mo' Tenors.

The current group performing with the name Three Mo' Tenors are quite good, too... but not the same.
