@mazenfilth1 - Golan hights is part of Israel for 45 years now...it was part of Syria for only 20 yeas (between 1947 and 1967) and in any case it will always stay Israeli territory. Why shold Israel give it to Syria? it belongs now to Israel, and we took it when we won the war. Also, the Golan is very significant piece of land for Israel, and vast majority of Israelis would never agree to hand it to Syrians. If Syria wants peace it could have it with out the Golan.

Syria is now a multiparty state, Freedom of Demonstration is allowed (which most of the very few opposition demonstrations refuse to get a license for their demonstration), freedom of press is guaranteed, and a new constitution is being drafted. Any freedom beyond this is anarchy. Syria will never make peace with Israel.

Now, it's not the case. They are being forced to cover their heads. I feel as if the country's sunnies are getting more radical (damascus). I went there in 2000, it was the safest country Ive been in, the people were the nicest of any country Ive been. The food in Halab-Aleppo is worth the trip.

@mazenfilth1 - Golan hights is part of Israel for 45 years now...it was part of Syria for only 20 yeas (between 1947 and 1967) and in any case it will always stay Israeli territory. Why shold Israel give it to Syria? it belongs now to Israel, and we took it when we won the war. Also, the Golan is very significant piece of land for Israel, and vast majority of Israelis would never agree to hand it to Syrians. If Syria wants peace it could have it with out the Golan.
PS - Assad will die soon!

Syria is now a multiparty state, Freedom of Demonstration is allowed (which most of the very few opposition demonstrations refuse to get a license for their demonstration), freedom of press is guaranteed, and a new constitution is being drafted. Any freedom beyond this is anarchy. Syria will never make peace with Israel.

@landesal but believe me my friend, I was just there last year, and the sunnies are ramping up and getting more radicalized. I remember back in the day when I left, half the girls were uncovered. Now, it's not the case. They are being forced to cover their heads. I feel as if the country's sunnies are getting more radical (damascus). Other areas are as radical as other arabic countries, so it also depends on the city. the government there is not ideal, but it's one of the best in the area.

@motocrossing its really because of the culture. Egypt and Lebanon are the same. 20 years ago it was kinda hard to spot a head covered woman in both countries, look at them now. Its also because of the economy, people are becoming more religious to co-op with their financial and social problems. besides if syria was a democracy with full rights I dont think this would be happening.

The Al Asad family despite what some news outlets would have you believe, have created an island of tranquility in an ocean of madness. I went there in 2000, it was the safest country Ive been in, the people were the nicest of any country Ive been. The food in Halab-Aleppo is worth the trip.
