  • This is great. It really puts things into perspective. Believe only your own thoughts and words. It will set you free.

  • It seems the only difference between the Israelites and today's Muslim extremists is the invention of explosives.

  • Taking verses out of chapter/book context, ignoring historical context, and using pictures of dead kids for shock value?

Boring and beyond stupid. I thought there would actually be something worth debating here, but clearly you're not even trying.

  • @fkerpants Did you create this video? It's well constructed and interesting. I'm looking forward to finishing the rest in this series when I wake up in the morning.

  • Sadly, Christian-wannabes (I call them), don't READ their own loving father's book yet they just "Believe" simply because what the pastor cherry picks the good ones on Sundays and have those sheeps follow along...

God is (if there is one), the BIGGEST asshole I can think of. Therefore, this one goes out to you God, "FUCK YOU!"

  • you could have made it shorter

  • For religion, every human body is just another barbie doll. Play with it and then break it into pieces.

  • my parents made me depressed for life because of religion

  • According to the bible God is the same today, yesterday and forever more.....well? It also says he does not change. You must discern man and Gods writings. When your in the spirit its not to hard especially when it tolerates slavery (sounds like hamburabi) rape of a virgin? No problem just pay the dad some silver and its all good as long as you stay with her forever. Pure unadulterated ridiculousness!!! This is 2011, wake up to truth! Why are Slavery and rape not commandments.THINK FOR YOURSELF!

  • i was a christian until recently. it shames me to say this, but even though i myself hated these things just as much as the next guy, i had faith that somehow it all made sense, and that god was somehow "right" for doing such things. i even advocated the same BS that preachinshawn posted - "we're not omniscient so how could we understand god's purposes?" now i realise these violent people simply invented god's "approval" for their filthy actions. shame.

  • Oh god, this was so sad I couldn't even finish. I'm not even a Christian, maybe that made it so much worse for me. To think people could READ the bible and then say "yeah that sounds about right" make me ill.

  • I guess it all comes down to whether or not you believe that God is good as Jesus taught (Mark 10:18). Man is not omniscient and is thus in no place to judge what is right or wrong since we are ignorant of so many things.

I don't expect my comment to change anyone because faith is a hard thing for people to overcome.

  • @preachinshawn "Man is not omniscient and is thus in no place to judge what is right or wrong since we are ignorant of so many things." So you can somehow, despite believing this, come to the conclusion that you have the correct view? Based on what exactly? that you must accept the word of god as true in order to accept it as true? it's possible that this is the case but it is also possible that god could be testing you to see if you are gullible enough to believe that same fact for all u know

  • and these pictures:Are u insinuating these people who did those thinks were under the ifluence of the passages u wrote?

i mean they are all irelevant u know that right?

i ll agree 2one though:yes!PPL, DONT BELIEVE IN ABSURDITIES!

  • for god and ppl/selfishness and not obsession in material possesings

that s all he said (with his paraboles too) /+he made his own life an example.

we should follow whats right(and not follow whats wrong also) no matter who sais it/

also /there are degrees to perfection +morality and we should always take into account the ammount of good a person/idea does/did and not erase it altogether

  • you can definitely not say that the N.T.is a book of hatred!

    and i d sugggest:

that u read it all and say u r opinion then..and if you find in there some thinks that are meaningfull to you that can teach you somethink keep those (if not dont)/i dont know if the point you mentioned are in the original texts and if they are i should check who amnwrote it and what it meant for that era etc/

but basically jesus gave a simple msg of love and conduct of life evolving around the search of god+love

  • mistreat them and let them dye as dogs/those were diferent times dfrnt people-cruel people that needed a cruel law 2 hold them

2/that jesus said all over the bible that at that time god gave them those laws because of their cruelty-but as times changed he came 2preach only love

"love your enemy""turn the other chic"/and that was even a lot ahead of his time since we canot do it even today still thats what he teached.

3/this was an example not a law that jesus gave

  • this was the context/

the laws he mentioned were jewish laws which he gave as example that they erase a law with another to finaly do what they want while they pretend they are just/thatt ment that by using the tradition as an excuse they didnt take care of their old parents as they should although by the law given 2 them by god they shouldnt mistreat their parent warned 4 that even with death penalty//now we must first think that this law was given so they dont abandon their parents

  • make a satement rather how they twist thinks

later he sais:isaia was right when he prophecised"this people honour me in vain since they follow teachings and laws of people they honour me with their mouth but their hurt is away from me

  • the girl in your video was kiled by her cousins her parents didnt agree/mathew15sais : they told jesus"why your students dont wash their hands before eating as the radition is"

he sais:you re hypocrites because your tradition also sais that he who will tell his parents"what u r entitled2receive from me i give it to god"he has no more obligation 2them

although god said "honour u r parents and he who curses them should be put 2 death"

so isn t u r tradition against god s law?

    /so he wanted2

  • "Let him die the death." Hehe, let him redo the redundant.

  • We beat the vote bots! Yeah! Man: 1. Machine : 0.

  • Powerful vid! Always amazes me how few christians have actually read their holy book!

  • @comanchio1976

They do read it, and they rationalize it so it only says what they want it to.

Example: It says (somewhere towards the back) that women shouldn't speak in church.

They can nowadays, they can even preach. That's because the passage was only effective until woman's suffrage.

You see whenever the Bible says something that we need to reconcile with today's culture, we can assert that those were instructions for the time it was written in.

No shit, I've had preachers hand me this line

  • Once i heard the music for this I freaked -- I haven't heard this song in YEARS. My first thought was Dead Can Dance. Am I right? Anyway, amazing, visceral video.

  • It's odd how believers feel free to pick and choose Bible verses, connect totally unrelated passages from various books, and come up with tortured and patently ridiculous interpretations of innocuous bits and pieces ("God wants us to brings rattlesnakes to church!"), and yet when an atheist quotes the plain text of the book, he's "taking things out of context." These people don't know what the word "context" means.

  • Looks like you've pissed off some of the sheep. Apparently, finding the horrors in their own holy book doesn't qualify as evidence. If this stuff isn't part of their creed, I wonder why they don't cut it out of their book instead of having to dodge and weave, twist logic into knots, and claim that rape, infanticide, and genocide are only bad in particular contexts. But I guess when you believe that willful ignorance is a virtue, you're immune to reason.

Save the Bible verses. We've heard 'em.

  • @PrometheanX

    So True, My Daughter

    John 11:25-26

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

    Yours in Christ etc etc

  • @PrometheanX

Thank you. I was utterly confused by this faggotry. I am Love and all these dead bodies are just the work of Satan.

  • This is Sacrelidge! He did not Capitalize GOD, also whats with all the dead bodies?

  • @PrometheanX Oh, I get it. You're crazy lady.

  • Comment removed

  • @PrometheanX Rage??? I think you need to read what I wrote again. The nerve that was struck was yours or you wouldn't have responded to my comment in the first place. I should have met you before responding since it sounds like you must be god himself.

  • @PrometheanX You think you know me so well. You don't. I didn't come to some revelation watching this video. I've lived my life and come to my own conclusions. You want propaganda? You have your bible. Go suck on that and leave me to my beliefs.

  • By the way, by "gibberish" I meant the speaking in tongues BS, not all the other gibberish.

  • What, no theists are gonna claim that rape wasn't so bad back then? Christians like to pick and choose bits of the Bible to support whatever crazy ideas they come up with (like bringing rattlesnakes to church, or spouting gibberish), then accuse us of doing the same when we quote parts of their book. (Don't worry guys, they're not REEEEEEL Christians like you.) And yes guys, Hitler was a Christian--he tried to finish the work the Church had been doing for centuries.

  • shame on you . how you pick the things in a story told by men of god . to show you reality of evil hell . better it is to pluck out your eyes then to be cast in hell. n im from haiti . mno significans but so b it i stand by my words have . moral n have sense n have faith your lost n no hope i hope you smile when u fall. read the good n stop bein a beaken for the anti christ whom u r. open your eyes

  • nigga dont you know your mom and dad say things to protect your soul and keep you if your blessed to have good ones. takin one [art of a bible is like judgin a piece of puzzel forgetin masterpiece.. we die yes a horrible death when we grow up wild n stupid. so listen to wizdom . honor

  • I will never fully understand people who believe in god and live their lives by "the good book". What a scary book...

  • You are like the Biblical Job who complained of God's injustice. God's answer was: "Who has put wisdom in your inward parts? Who has given understanding to your heart?"

  • If I ever got an undeniable message from God asking me the same, I would believe in him too. He did just talk to me, after all. Weird how he physically appeared to people only in the olden days, people of the present must be less important to him or something?

  • whats the song used in this? would be much appreciated

  • i'm an atheist but i think first of all that you misinterpreted some things for example the "keep alive for yourself" thing it doesent necessarily mean to rape them and also you took a lot of quotes out of the context.

i mean i'm an atheist but still that video is just melodramatic.

  • @xXxXcalibanxXxX

Then what do you think it means? It clearly says kill all the women that have been with a man but keep the women that have not for yourself, you need a virgin to scrub your floor?

There is also a chapter where it says that you should kill everyone but if you see a pretty women you can keep her, clip her nails, cut her hair, let her mourn here father and mother(guess her mother wasent pretty) and then she is yours. What is this anything than rape?

  • @xXxXcalibanxXxX No, it definitely means rape. Look at other nearby books of the bible where it describes the purification process you have to make the women undergo before you can rape them. Its done as a whole ritualistic process, where you shave their heads, purify them, and give them a little time to mourn their family members you killed in war before they're yours sexually. Their consent is not required. That is rape. Its described euphemistically in the text, but its rape.

  • @xXxXcalibanxXxX

If you get to keep a woman for yourself regardless of her will, that means you can do anything you want to her. She has no say what you decide to do, and rape will be inevitable. You should point out what was taken out of context and explain them.

  • The bible is a contradictory, out-of-date, amoral work of fiction, and anyone who tries to claim its infallibility, or grounds their personal moral code in any of it's teachings, obviously hasn't really read the thing, and doesn't care to.

    But that's just me.

  • @maradashewolf I read the thing and I am still a moral and selfless person, and yes i is out-of-date, but so are alot of boks today, and no it is not a work of fiction.

  • Comment removed

  • @yamo25000

Then how do you explain Ezekiel? Or Deuteronomy? Or Isaiah? Or Matthew, for that matter?

I don't doubt that you are a good person, yamo, but the bible didn't make you that way, you did.

    I wish you well!

  • @maradashewolf I was a better person after i said starting reading it, and I explain those by saying that God warned those nations and Isiah is God warning other nations... read All of it not just bits

  • @yamo25000

So...in your opinion, warning a nation justifies the slaughter and enslavement of it's women and children?

...I'm sorry, but I refuse to accept that, and I feel that I myself am a better person for it.

If you've made your peace with the bible's more questionable content, and get something good and constructive out of it's messages, more power to you, yamo. We just see things differently, and that's ok.

    All the best!

  • @maradashewolf If you told somebody to stop over and over and over again, and eventually told them "I am going to punch you in the face if you dont stop" and they kept going, so you punched them in the face, would you consider that wrong?

  • @yamo25000

You are dodging my question, yamo; answering my question with another question is no answer.

I repeat, is a 'warning' justification for the slaughter and enslavement of women and children? Noncombatants who have little if anything to do with the conflict itself? I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this.

BTW; in answer to your non-answer, didn't Jesus instruct his followers to 'turn the other cheek'?

  • @maradashewolf ok these non combatants had alot to do with the conflict, and yes i belive warning someone over and over is a justification to punish them

and I have to say that you have me there. He did instruct us to turn the other cheek, but not to our children and Humans are known as Gods children

  • @yamo25000

*facepalm* .... Children are not responsible for their parent's screw-ups, and the fact that God repeatedly visits the 'sins' of the fathers upon the children, and encourages his followers to perpetuate this behavior, simply solidifies my position that the bible is an out-of-date collection of fables, myths and stories, not to be taken literally or figuratively for any purpose.

I'm very sorry you feel differently, and hope that I've at least gotten you thinking about the....

  • @maradashewolf

...inconsistencies inherent in the bible. I have a video up on my channel detailing various excerpts from the bible that illustrate my point a little better. You're welcome to watch it.

In any case, I'm on vacation, and I've promised myself to relax for a while, so I'm gonna go start relaxing!

    I wish you well, yamo!

    Blessings

  • @maradashewolf ok...have a good vacation, and trust me I have argued with enough people to have n=been made to think about the Bible and my God, but I still dont think he is evil in any way

  • Just to further muddy the water:

    Matthew 10 : 34 & 35

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -; a man's enemies will be the members of his own household."

  • THEN...

    Matthew 15: 4-6

"For God said, 'Honor your father and mother' and 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.' But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,' he is not to 'honor his father' with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites!"

And yes, both are Jesus speaking.

  • Comment removed

  • and also, the ones that actually WERE doing horrific stuff like this were the nations that God destroyed(of course, this was after he warned them over and over and over again....)

  • these pictures are NOT the resulting of a true follower of Christ..."the chattering fool teaches others lies and deceit"...another quote from the Bible....somewhere in proverbs...why don't you go look it up?and while your at it read the rest of the Bible...not just the parts that describe bad things...and btw...the Isaiah quotes were describing what was going to happen to a rebellious nation...at the hands of two different nations...not God...he was warning them....

  • christians are not the ones who do this vile stuff and it is most certainly NOT what God demands.those soilders that are killing those innocent kids are NOT christians...and idc if they say they are, they are NOT.this is not God's law and your "its obvious what this means..rape." is also false.you assume without reading the entire story...that is like someone walking in someone's room and see two men laying in the same bed and then assume that they are gay when they are actually conjoined twins.

  • @SpeakerForrTheDead ok, look I'm not going to get into another argument about this...you wouldn't listen anyway...christians don't stone ppl...at all...

and God does not tell us to kill...he tells us not to...

you will be able to tell a christian by his fruits...not an exact quote but it is mainly what the Bible says

it doesn't mean rape it means for slavery...now I am not going to respond to anything else of yours...unless I just can't help myself

  • "it means for slavery"

    Of course it means 'slavery'.

Kill the men, women, and boys... young and old alike. But keep the young virgins.

A slave labour force comprised of young, virginal girls used to build temples, maybe?

No. Sex slaves. The passage is clear on this. It's dishonest to say otherwise.

"God does not tell us to kill...he tells us not to"

The Books of Leviticus & Deuteronomy alone are replete with 'God's' admonitions to kill... too numerous to list.

    (cont.)

  • "you will be able to tell a christian by his fruits"

    That's Matthew 7:16

"You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?"

    It follows Matthew 7:15

"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves"

Something to keep in mind when listening to your favourite televangelist, I suspect.

    (cont)

  • Here's another distinguishing characteristic of a 'good Christian':

    Mark 16: 17&18:

    "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

    Good luck w/all that.

"now I am not going to respond to anything else of yours"

That of course is entirely your prerogative...

  • "it doesn't mean rape it means for slavery"

So they take all the little girls as slaves and kill the strong, able-bodied adults? Wait a minute... That makes no fucking sense!!!

What do you really think those soldiers are really going to say? "Hey, ten year old girl, go build me a barn for all this livestock I just looted," or "Hey, 10 year old girl, come sit on my cock!"

I guess you're right, though, it kinda does mean slavery... sexual slavery.

    Jesus Fucking Christ...

  • Yamo, just how do you justify the Noah's story global genocide? God did, according to that (ridiculous) story, kill absolutely everybody except Noah's family ; that must include every single baby on the planet.

Do you have any justification for that absolute evil act? Do you think such god is worth worshiping?

  • @mathematicsarefun I justify it by the fact that Noah TOLD everyone over and over again that there was going to be a flood, and that they needed to join him on his ship. God gave them all fair warning and still felt bad, yes I think that such a God is worth worshiping

  • @yamo25000 Those babies had it coming then, they were *TOLD* to go on the boat and didn't listen; killing them all sure is the most moral thing to do.

    Here's something to think about:

God kills all babies in the world

    God is love

God kills all babies in the world

    God is love

    ...

Still feeling good about worshipping that monster?

  • @mathematicsarefun God did not kill all the babies in the world, Noah told their parents that they need to get on the boat, God didn't kill them, the parents didn't listen when God told them, it is their fault, and my God is love. Go look up all of the stuff he did for yourself instead of listening to things like this

  • @mathematicsarefun God did not kill all the babies in the world, Noah told their parents that they need to get on the boat, God didn't kill them, the parents didn't listen when God told them, it is their fault, and my God is love. Go look up all of the stuff he did for yourself instead of listening to things like this

  • "...not God's law and your "its obvious what this means..rape." is also false.you assume without reading the entire story."

I, for one, *have* read the story (Book of Numbers) in its entirety...

if it doesn't mean 'rape', then what *does* it mean?

Further along in Numbers you find that 32 of the captives ("women that had not known man by lying with him"), were made "an heave offering of the LORD".

You have a convenient excuse as to why that isn't virgin sacrifice...

    right there in the Bible?

  • like I said these soilders are NOT christians...christians would NEVER do anything like this

  • "...these soilders are NOT christians"

    Of course not.

The term "Christian" has no meaning until *after* the birth of Jesus.

"...it is most certainly NOT what God demands."

It most certainly *IS* what 'God' demands.

"NOT christians...and idc if they say they are, they are NOT"

You don't get to judge who is and is not Christian (in point of fact, you are enjoined *not* to)...

or do you presume that once you get to the Pearly Gates 'God' will seat *YOU* on his right to judge the hearts of men?

  • no it means keep them for slavery...and this also is NOT what God demands...this is what Moses said when they were about to go kill a rebellious nation(that had been warned over and over again)and you are not supposed to brake off small parts of the Bible....especially when you make yor own picture with them....christians did not do these things....christians never do vile stuff like this...don't lie about us and plz,no one try to tell me otherwise...I know my own religion.

  • this si not what the bible demands...the" die the death" refers to going to Hell.....but God forgave us of our sins...I will not argue with anyone about this....I'm done arguing with atheists....

  • "THEY SPEAK EVIL OF THE THINGS THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND". This is one of the most deceitful videos I've ever seen. CLEARLY, this is satanic deception and misleading, PLEASE privately ask God to reveal Himself and His will to you.

  • God is both wrath and love.Though, you are just verse picking, and not reading it as a whole. If you take pieces out of context, you will not see the fullness of what is being said.Although you may be purposely doing this,to support your message.I pray that one day that fullness will be revealed to you.

  • I hate the bible, it talks about a bunch of people who believe in an amazing, loving god, who wants them to kill the non-believers and such, what kind of f*cking loving god would that be? if that god they talk about was actually loving, he would just forgive the non-believers. Besides, god didn't write the bible, neither the people who wrote it were truthful. I think it's a made up story for idle religious people. Cool vid.

  • If there is a loving God, this clearly isn't his book.

As a child I was told about the "Bible" and therefore began a certain awe. I decided to sit down and read it and was horrified. I was further horrified to learn about the massacres committed by "Christian" soldiers throughout history. At the age of 10, I knew this wasn't right. I knew this wasn't the code I wanted to live by. While there are some truthful comments in the Bible, I find truths in many other books as well.

  • God IS love.peace.x

  • @LIZAZOON-I agree its complete jargon i also think there is no god to write a more clearer version.I'm pointing out the way some religious people defend these horrible passages in the bible-in a lot of cases its the first time they've heard them. Most people i've met that defend the bible have not actually read it.

  • What have we become ! and that is what millions of family around the world are reading for their children ,at list every sunday.how could we let this go so far?The pole is reversing,i feel it coming.Knowledge will do.

  • When confronted with passages in the bible like these apologists stumble round spouting words like metaphor and interpretation.Killing everyone apart from virgins who are kept alive to rape, what exactly is that a metaphore of and how else would you interpretate it?

  • pipkin1972 What exactly can that be a metaphor for ? An instruction manual, to reach heaven, that needs interpretation can not be from god. What car maker is going to write his maintenance manual in incomprensible jargon ?

  • Any book that you can arbitrarily decide what to follow, and what not to follow is complete bullshit.

  • I couldn't help but think "Won't somebody please think of the children!", as Rev. Lovejoy's wife moaned in that Simpsons episode. Though I agree with the point that you're making (that the Bible is hardly a 'family friendly' book) this video is a bit simplistic.

I had to turn the sound off. Not because it was emotionally overwhelming, but because it was annoying. You're trying too hard.

BTW I read Isaiah 13 and I'm still not sure whether or not it's an imperative, metaphor, prophecy or what.

  • The bible teaches that we are born EVIL and deserve death. So it is self-directed HATE LITERATURE.

It is high-time that we banned all hate literature. Our modern world, where fanatics can get weapons of mass destruction, is too volatile and dangerous already.

  • I strongly disagree. Simply banning something or book-burning achieves nothing whatsoever. I hold the same opinion about 'Mein Kampf', if you try to cover it up history will repeat itself.

What has to change is the population's tolerance and respect of such ugly things. Hateful writings and unspeakably disgusting views should not be respected or tolerated AT ALL, let alone activey and publicly endorsed. In a way it is the failure of moderates to boldly stand up to the extremists.

  • To even think this was the law at all, as some god commanded it, is attrocious.

  • Fearful images, reflecting fearful horrors of biblical history, ordered by god or his prophets. How can people imagine the bible is even inspired by a divinity when parts are clearly guided and driven by 'satanic' cruelty?

  • cus plp r dumb

  • in what context would this be acceptable?

  • This is always the lame excuse Christians use. Out of context, out of context. No it is not out of context.

  • I fail to see how either ordering, personally carrying out, allowing or justifying: rape, turture and genocide can be acceptable "in context".

At the most extreme one might see how it could happen under the rule of a benevolent human, but this something i cannot believe to be on the resume of an all powerful LOVING GOD.

The weasling arguements of apologetics simply do not hold water any more than 'don't think about it, im sure there is a good reason for it".

  • This is a great video. Thanks for asking me to watch it.

I have a newborn son and those images gut checked me pretty hard. But the truth of it is that only religion produces these kinds of things and we all should realize the constant head-on collision religion and faith consistently have with human peace, equality and harmony.

"Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into buildings."

  • Bring on the xians with their pathetic, mealy mouthed excuses and trite justifications for this disgusting abomination of a book. We can help by stopping it's proliferation, next time you're staying in a hotel, take and destroy (or recycle) the Gideon bible they always have in your room. The xians are still burning people as witches, google 'what's the harm? (kenyan edition)' for a recent video of Kenyan xians burning alive 5 people, including a 7 year-old girl, as commanded by the bible.

  • Don't forget the horrors that ruled Europe when the Catholic church dominated the political scene.

  • @alien8ted This is pretty disgusting but everything has a dark past. Even science. For me these quotes are disgusting, but so is the fact that scientists worked on the atomic bomb in the hopes that it would end war, but come on you would have to be blind to human nature to not see that creating an extremely powerful weapon would not end war.

  • Yeah, yeah, this is 'pretty disgusting' BUT don't look at that, look at something else. Scientists don't follow a book (like the Bible) that tells them (Exodus 22:18) to kill those they see as 'witches'. The Kenyans claim they are doing good by burning bad people alive and believe they will be rewarded by god for killing these people. It is inherent in the xian faith to murder people who don't conform. There's nothing like that in science.

  • Well not everyone uses the bible, and not everyone takes the bible literally. there are people that keep it around as metaphors/interpretation, or to live a better life. Attacking a group just because there are misconceptions is wrong. Like a theist saying atheists are going to hell because they don't believe and therefore can't make moral decisions. So is it of an atheist to think that all theists fallow the book to the letter. This is where people should draw the line and drop stereotypes.

  • There are no stereotypes in this video. The fact that there are people who only believe half of the bullshit in a wishy washy hand-waving way does not take away from the facts.

1: Faith is valued over reason.

2: If you think you are being spoken to by god thats socially acceptable.

3: The Bible is full of unspeakable atrocities making just about anything 'justifiable' when sufficiently deluded.

These points are a horrifyingly dangerous combination.

  • concerning that people use the biblie as methaphors, i am sorry to tell you, that it was secularism that banned the power of religion.

yep, secularism prohibited and we succeded, so now people have the wrong idea that christianism was always like now.

they are forgetting they have the freedom because our secular leaders. yea i am proud of them

  • hey moron, it did end war, and there hasn't been a nuclear war since. What there HAS been, however, are nuclear power plants that help bring electricity to millions of people.

Oh yes, but science is as bad as religion isn't it?

    Moron.

  • i don't see what destroying a gideons bible would achieve.

is it some sort of revenge? is it because christians woudn't like it? are you punishing those kenyans by burning the book they revere?

  • Destroying all Gideon bibles would help reduce the contamination of this insidious mind disease, the fewer bibles that exist, the fewer people will be tempted into falling for this crap. There's no revenge motive, just containment of a pernicious and contagious mental illness. In time, religion will be assigned it's rightful place in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as a serious psychiatric disorder and then the theists can get the treatment they need. Or we can feed them to the lions.

  • you're not going to ever destroy them all by only going for the one in your hotel room.

Can't say I agree with book burning. You've noted yourself, as a mental illness it doesn't need a bible for people behave badly.

  • I agree except for the lions bit.

  • @alien8ted

Like a good many other people, I am an atheist today because I read the bible. ;)

  • Horrifying yet powerful.

Those who claim to follow the bible are usually those who know it the least.

  • almost right.

    God is still Love.

The Bible is not God. Not by a long shot.

  • How on Earth do YOU know anything about what God is or isn't. What special source of information do YOU have that nobody else has access to?

  • I don't have anything nobody else does.

    I use empathy.

  • Okie doke...I'll bite.

So you don't believe in the Bible, that's cool. You believe in "A" God, not the Abrahamic God that spawned Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

In that case God can be Love... or cookies!

  • well no, I believe in the 'abrahamic god' - i just don't believe that the bible accurately describes that god at all times.

My beliefs are pretty messed up, and its pointless trying to dissect them. In short: the wisdom of 'do unto others' does not rely on whether or not snakes can talk.

  • oros123456 - Yes, we should pick and choose which "things" in the bible that we will accept as literal.

  • Yay, it's fixed, now I can see it over here in the Netherlands. Good job. :)

  • Can anyone tell me what song is used here? tnx.

  • The maker of the video did number each passage for the purposes of reference. As someone who has an interest in (and is somewhat well read) philosophy, theology, and literature, I would love to hear the metaphysical or allegorical meanings to these bible passages. I do believe many parts of the bible were never intended to be taken literally, but these definitely were created by rulers as justification for evil, using God to purify their dirty deeds. Take care.

  • Some people that do believe in Jesus end up ther too. ;)

  • ur so called perfect god had a change of heart(as depicted in the new and old testament).? Ur So called perfect god resort to Plan B because old testament sounds ancient/outdated or to keep up with time or (?)..?

    Sounds very perfect indeed.!!

  • When you compare and contrast, Satan is more love than Yahweh is.

  • Really mate, I think we saw enough bloodbath from and for religion during all this millenia, and you want us to believe we are going to a hot and dark place (is this sime kind of Spa or something)? you cant be serious, free your mind of that stupid dogma that blinds you from reality.

  • Strong message. Great work. Five stars.

  • so, those that did not suffer at the hands of your merciful, loving 'god', will suffer for all eternity because they choose not to believe in this maniacal dictator? infinite sufferring for finite 'sins'?

makes perfect sense to me...where do i sign up? AND you are a white supremasist? does this mean heaven is filled with people like you?

hell is sounding better every day.

  • Why should it have ever applied? The things stated in your holy book are monstrous and they stand on there own merits or lack there of no matter when they were employed or whatever reason. Just because a demigod was born shouldn't suddenly render everything that came before meaningless. Was it not the same deity that had commanded these atrocities or was it someone else? No one gets off the hook for such things so easily, not even your god.

  • Ignorant, there isnt a god being.

  • @BornWhiteSupremacy

Yeah, that's why Jesus told the Pharisees that they didn't up hold the law of stoning their children who curse their parents. Why would Jesus say that unless the law WAS still binding? Especially when he also said the law would not pass away until heaven and earth passed away. ? You have no answer.

  • The crazy and sad thing is, back in those days they would've done exactly what that crazy book told them to do. So I'm positive that real children were slaughtered, real women were raped, real people were punished to death for the slightest and most insignificant things.

It doesn't sound like a holy book, it sounds like something you would condition your soldiers with before going to war with another country. How can people not see that?

  • @JohnWoo Exactly. Even if the stories were ONLY stories, those people who later came to revere them as fact, WOULD have followed them! Most of the Bible was penned around the 7th century BCE, IMO, so at the least, you have 7 centuries of human suffering at the behest of fictional stories written by ignorant and hateful desert dwellers.

  • 5 stars and faved! Love the tension the music and text creates as well as the contrast between the ugly reality of the Bible and what children should be like - happy, free, protected, etc.

  • To their credit, most modern christians have reinvented and morphed their own religion, twisting it, inwxplicably, into some kind of "universal love". Of course, to do this, they HAD to ignore, revise, and "interpret" the bible in such a way as to re-create their faith. Kind of a desperate attempt to make modern morality consistant with the bronze-age desert savagry of the founders of their insane faith.

  • Good video. I hope you have more to come. Don't forget Deut. 28:53-57 where men eat their own children. Always a fun story for the little ones.

  • I've been Atheist for yrs now, and the past few years I have really learned alot and see more and more how crazy religion is, but I have never ever gotten so mad as what I am right now at religion and the sheeple ( I mean people) who follow it.

This video was so well done, no doubt that its one of the best videos I've seen so far. Thank you so much for doing this.

  • Thanks for putting this forth so bluntly. It's the only way to open peoples eyes for the insanity of religion. The contradictions of the book cancels it out.

We must stop conditioning people to believe this from childhood. This has made the world insane and irrational beyond recognition. Human ethics rise high above the supposed ethics of the religious texts.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Its a well done video, Ive almost vomit the entire laptop. I... simply, dont know.

  • Gawd is a monster, assuming he/it exists

  • Awesome video, should be mandatory viewing for everyone with any touch of religion in them. Please produce more of these

  • Well done.

  • Why won't religion go away? People are so blinded by their faith that they can't see the devastation they are causing. Sickening, just sickening.

Great job on the video, 5 stars for making me want to destroy every "Holy" book on the planet.

  • Powerful.

  • great..

  • Every bible thumper should see this vid.

    Good job!

  • Holy word, human writers, mindsets, politics and biases, so they say. This is why i'm no bible thumping literalist. Yes, i'll grant you that i still have my infantile faith, but i'm grown up enough to admit that we should question the crap that gets put in these books. our relationship with the divine, if it exists, should thoughtfully be redefined. We' may have grown beyond wide-eyed dependence on bronze age myths.

  • Of course if you were to question the devout they would tell you that God moves in mysterious ways.

  • No they would say that the words are misinterpreted, misused by not real believers corrupting the teachings. Its just like you cant find any Germans that supported Hitler, though in 1936 he was the most popular politician ever. The faithful have to prove their more faithful than their neighbor so religion always leads to extremism and literial readings of bullshit books.

  • Think I'll go blow some chunks now

  • Yes. If more people read the bible their probably would be less believers. I find faith in a way childish. Sadly there are people who know of the horrors within the bible and support them fully (without any excuse as to why God did them or allowed them). I guess some humans are programmed for stupidity!

  • "Humanity without religion is like a serial killer without a chainsaw."

    ..Author unknown

  • Thanks for the quote! It made my day. :-)

  • People like to believe that the message gets all happy when God puts on his Jesus face-but -no.

  • lol yeah, it Jesus who was the one who first introduced the doctrine of hell!

If the savagery and barbarism of the old testament was not enough, NOW in the New Testament if we don't believe Jesus died for our sins when are damned to an eternal torture chamber of endless pain and suffering... loving God indeed.

  • I know Hitchens says that, but its not exactly true.

Judaism and the Old Testament have an understanding of hell --> Daniel 12:2 "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt."

It is true that it isn't as formalised or integral as in christianity, but it is present.

  • Wow.

I have to say though that Numbers 31 is even worse than you read it. It calls for the rape and/or enslavement of preteens, the girls among the children who had not already been molested. According to Jewish law, girls were still among the "little ones" until their bat mitzvah at 13.
