I have watched a lot of these on here and no one has included Scorpio from Dirty Harry, what he does isn't as graphic as some but that is because of the era when it was made, but if you look at the essence of the character he is a evil child killing peadophille. The way Andy Robinson portrays him makes your skin crawl.

I love a lot of these villains on your list my only complaints are these three: why isn't john doe #1 he gave up his life for 'his art', you have to much schorchesie shit on here, and why isn't idi amin from last king of scotland there he's what the definition of a naturalistic villian is he started out as good but slowly turned to genocide of his citizens soldiers and mutilation of his own wife. Forest Whitaker won an oscar for it.
John Doe wasn't evil for the sake of evil, he was selfrighteous and crazy; his evilness spawned from those two characteristics. You must understand that this is a subjective list and that I haven't seen every movie in existence, so of course it's debatable. Maybe I'll work on a revised list in the future, given that I've seen new movies since I made it and I got familiar with some new villains, like Daniel Plainview from "There Will Be Blood". Cheers.
Yes... I realized I omitted him right after I finished this project. He's a good candidate, as well as the guy who raped those two little girls, in that movie... Sam Rockwell. Thanks.
@Werebull Actually Percy was the guard that killed the mouse. You're thinking of the prisoner, can't recall the character's name but he called himself Billy the Kid.
this is the most thoughtful list I've ever seen. You somehow picked the greatest scenes for each bad guy to make the most compelling case. Really cool.
Well, I definately mean it. I sat and watched all four. I'm so glad you used only plausible villians. This might be too obscure, but have you seen Man Bites Dog? Ben, the hitman, would a great addition. He recites poetry, loves modern architecture, has a great relationship with his parents, but he also rapes, kills children (all on screen), old folks, is racist-- just a total pycho. He's my fav. Anyways, great video.
He might've been on the first part, but if not, you're missing Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. That movie could turn someone into a psycho, and the way he looks on the shootout scene really hits hard.
Travis Bickle is an antihero, but not a villain. He isn't evil, but quite the contrary. What he wants is less scumbags on the streets and to save that 12 year old prostitute.
The antagonist is the villain. Hannibal was a criminal, but he wasn't the villain in the movie. Just like Lawrence Fishburne didn't play the villain in Assault on Precinct 13, even though his character was a criminal.
A villain is someone with cruel or evil intent. Hannibal Lector tore a man's face off and used it as a mask so he can escape prison and continue eating people, so he's a villain.
The protagonist is the main character, and the antagonist is his opponent Tony Montana, Alex De Large and Michael Corleone are all protagonists, but they're still villains, because Tony killed his best friend for marring his sister, Alex raped a woman and Michael kill his brother in the name of 'business'.
Get a dictionary and look up the word "villain". A villain is a character who opposes the hero. Hannibal didn't oppose Clarisse. In fact, he helped her catch the villain. A villain isn't necessarily a criminal, and a criminal isn't necessarily a villain. What makes you a villain is not the person you are but the person you are in relation to the main character.
The first definition is the definition of a villain in general life. The second one is the definition of a villain in a stroryline. If you read it, the second one agrees with my definition. And it's only the second one that matters, since we're talking about villains in movies.
I like the characters but I can't take the placement seriously if Lecter isn't at LEAST in the top 5 or so.

Hannibal Lecter wasn't the villain in that movie, Buffalo Bill was.

No, Buffalo Bill was the antagonist, but both of them were villains.

Dictionary . com
Antagonist
1. a person who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another; opponent; adversary.
2. the adversary of the hero or protagonist of a drama or other literary work
Villain
1. a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel.
2. a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot.
AgentAJD 2 years ago
The first definition is the definition of a villain in general life. The second one is the definition of a villain in a stroryline. If you read it, the second one agrees with my definition. And it's only the second one that matters, since we're talking about villains in movies.
osamabad 2 years ago
Exactly. The second definition for villain says "evil", and the second definition for antagonist says "adversary of the hero or protagonist".
AgentAJD 2 years ago
No, it says "evil agency in the plot" meaning it's evil as far as the plot is concerned.

Brick Top and Frank Booth could be considered funny I guess, but Begbie is the funniest.

I found the Hannibal "brain eating" uproariously funny, though it's largely because the victim is an asshole.

Which Hannibal movie was that scene with the man eating his own brain?
AirborneDivisionLand 3 years ago
The second one. "Hannibal"(2001), by Ridley Scott.
