Let's get this over with quick. Please, stop the homosexuality! Only twice r gays mentioned in canon, but nearly every fan show has a gay couple. Tolerance is good. Obsession is bad. And secondly, you guys should stop putting out star trek. Some fan vies r good. Most r not. Urs is in the 2nd column. Bad costumes graphics plot acting, everything was basically horrible. Thank God for canon. Now please stop producing such, well, "gay" trekisodes.
As a loyal Star Trek fan I appreciate the fac that people are trying to create spin offs in the absence of a television show, however I believe that most of us have forgotten what Gene Roddenberry's true vision was...and that was basically showing racial injustices and how fighting among each other isn't furthering the advancement of humanity. Exposing a gay character is fine but to make full blown relationship and force people to accept it is not and was not Gene Roddenberry's way.
Agreed with all the too much gay interaction. Female characters don't have as many kissing scenes its just soft core gay porn.
You don't need to have a huge focus on your gay relationship to have one, When Nichelle Nichols aired on television they didnt make the show about her and point her out every 10 seconds "THERES A BLACK PERSON ON TELEVISION TREK!"
She was just part of the show part of the crew no larger or smaller than any other non teio character.
Oh who cares about the homosexuality in these episodes? I find them entertaining. Let's get over insignificant issues like homosexuality and focus on humanity as a race. One that needs to unite to survive, or divide, pass judgement on others and ridicule one another ,and die.
@Quisquellano26 Maybe they to evolved past old prejudices, and I can believe that from what I've seen, Klingon's are present at consenting interspecies weddings, which is a bit further than consenting same-sex same species marriages... i.e. Riker (human) and Troi (Betazoid/Human).
Or even, Spocks parents, Sarek (Vulcan) and Amanda (human), however, Klingon's weren't present at that marriage.
@aluminartist1 If men were "meant" to be with women, then you better learn to speak to Zebra's, or Giraffes, or countless other species on this planet that also enter into a "same-sex coupling."
If you'd follow science, or even think rationally, you'd realize, maybe homosexuality is here for a reason, to naturally control the population, I mean, if other species have it, what would their reason(s) be? Choice? Which is what I am commonly told I made, of course, I don't remember making it...
It's really too bad that just because this video has a gay love scene, it freaks out so many people. Goes to show you how uptight and repressed this culture still is. Too bad. Because Star Trek has always been about acceptance of differences.
Interracial kisses. Phlox and his 3 wives. A civilization that demanded strict sexual androgyny. Even inter-species mating for cryin' out loud! Oh, but when it comes to gay scenes, everyone is effin' foaming at the mouth.
Well, I start to watch fan movies and again all TV series. I must say that this serie is awesome (Now must watch HF, Odyssey and others).
Gay, homosexual etc. ? What with you all people. This things are in normal life, so why not in this universe? As wrote baalthegreat, YOU should be more tolerant. For me those scenes make deeper sense. It shows you the true meanings of love and compassion.
actually, the display of a homasexual kiss onscreen isn't very far out of Star Trek's "pioneering" ballpark......Star Trek TOS was the first to show an interacial kiss between Kirk & Uhura. And I don't know where Halo comes off saying there are too many homo scenes in Trek....the only ones in this one are the flashbacks from the end of HF. The only ones in Odyssey were between Ro Nevin & Aster just before they arrived on Odyssey - since then there hasn't been much.
I'm not a homosexual myself, but I'm not homophobic, either. Especially when I know its JUST a TV show. The Hidden Frontier team didn't even introduce homosexuality onscreen until the 3rd season's "Enke," and even then, it was subtle. Most of it has revolved around Nevin, Aster, Jorian Zen/Dao, and the Klingon from HF. oh yeah - forgot to mention the scene between Stadi & Birista in "The Immortal Loom"....but hey - two chics kissing?? C'mon! What guy doesn't like that?
LOL what the hell is this there are too many homosexual scenes in it. As a Star Trek fan you should stick to the main theme damnit. That would be Science Fiction dumbass
The main theme of Star Trek was never "Science Fiction," it was a format for telling morality tales and tolerance for others. A Russian on board during the Cold War, a Black Woman in charge of a department during the civil rights movement, etc etc etc.
As a Star Trek fan, YOU should be more tolerant. Did you ever actually watch any of the episodes?
Yes, while I think the original idea was for one to follow Aster and one follow Nevin, with the two running simulataneously, it gives me the feeling I had was DS9 ran alongside Voyager - one kept us up to date on Alpha/Gamma Quadrant happenings, while Voyager brought us news from the Delta. Same here - HC follows Milky Way galaxy events, while Odyssey follows Andromeda galaxy events.
It's so nice to see more Trek! JT is SOOO cute! I know I can't him, but I can dream, just the same!
As for this too gay thing, I agree its overemphasized, but its also long overdue. Fans of all stripes have seen themselves in Trek roles, but never any gay characters. Personally, I'm liking this, but I understand that to the averge SF fan, you want that exploration of space and new challenges, etc. Me too, but I think there could be room for both. Live long & prosper, all!
If this was the 1st star trek series i had seen the 1st thing i would think is How did humans survive to the 24th century everyone is gay, is there no procreation?
@JB99661 Um, everyone is NOT gay. About 10% of people are gay so the 90% of breeders will keep your species over-populated well into the 24th Century. And PS. Gay people have babies the same way many stright people do - in vitro.
also to much emphasis on gay, ur making the same mistake they did u cant favor 1 sexual prefence, its like letting the blacks sit at the front of the bus then make whites sit in the back u dont trade 1 for the other.
yea its hard to belive the ship design, u gota think this is a time when star fleet is trying to make stronger tactial ships for fighting borg and the dominon not making ships with easy to target wrap nacells that look as if they are supported by a paper thin part of the ship thats probly not even a deck thick
Between this and Odyssey, there's more gay characters than Roseanne and Will & Grace combined! I said this about Odyssey: if you're going to have one or two gay characters, who cares? But putting so much emphasis and throwing it in everyone face is ruining this thing.
Obviously whoever's writing these stories is a flaming homosexual, which wouldn't bother me at all if he didn't splatter (lol) his sexual preference all over Star Trek. Are we even going to see a hetero relationship at any point?
I think the intro scenes are great. The acting and the backgrounds are more up to speed then they were in Odessey. I do think that the Klingons are weak though. I dont think a Klingon would attend a gay wedding of any speicies. The Klingons are Macho on steriods times ten. Klingons are naturally agressive by nature.
I disagree. A klingon would understand, as did the Spartans, that no one would fight harder for someone then a loved one. That is why the Spartans...a true warrior people...believed in gay marriage.
That is historicaly incorrect they had gay lovers but the greeks did alot of wrong things these are the same people who had sex with children and animals they glorified incest too like i said they were DISGUSTING thats why they were defeated and rightly so
I would suggest that you "LEARN" to read ENGLISH" my comments were directed at the disgusting ancient practices of the some of the greek city states who were rightly defeated, and i have no problem with gays having relationships and having legal rights but Marriage NO! that is a step too far as MOST of the population agrees thats why continual ammendments are always defeated and rightly so
@Rajalord27 um yeah ok. you do realise that by that same standard, the earliest western civilisations of Rome and Britain also had sex with children. *thumbs up* shut the fuck up dude.
@Rajalord27 no they wernt. greece was a lot less screwed up than rome and the early britains were. so don't tell me to shut the fuck up when you're just being a racist
@MiddaysStar The greeks were the biggest perverts of them all they where the worst now shut the fuck up stop defending perverts the only reason to do that if your one to
@Rajalord27 they were not the biggest pervs. did they ever help themselves to the women of those that they conquered? no. they tried to win those women over. ok maybe there may have been a greek ruler or two that was the exception, but it wasn't as a rule. greeks were happy with their own women. romans and british were just like "lololol you're mine now so get here or off with your head". stop talking shit at other cultures until you look at the history of those you think are more civilised
no fucking way a klingon would endorse this shit....lol.
