@ mf @ selector post some your stuff on here live like chad did where you can't rig it to make you look perfect example no sitting at home that don't count
@bluedevils2002 That is true, and now that I have listened to this again it isn't as bad as I remembered, which I never thought it was bad, I still think his ideas and licks and things are not what I would expect from such an amazing trumpet player.
@mfhorn your crazy Wayne is good but you must not of been to a lot of chad concerts or ones he's involved with cause I've seen both them plenty of times in concert and chad volume power and range way way better. Don't get me wrong Wayne good but more of just a studio musician where chads a all around player.....if you ever in Florida go to Disney he there 5 days a week or listen him play lead with Dan Macmillons band. Youll see what I'm talking about. You can't judge someone off a video or
@bluedevils2002 Haha, I have nothing against Mr. Shoopman, and I don't mean to bash him at all, but the reason why Wayne is a studio musician, which is not all he does, is because he is so well rounded, I have heard some of chad's vids on here of him in disney, his high chops are out of this world, so are wayne's, but wayne has definatley spent more time shedding and working on his soloing, his ideas are more developed and not as jumbled. Both are amazing, don't make it a big deal.
the band director is just standing there for the most part...should step aside occasionally to showcase soloists in this JAZZ group. The band itself could also have more energy...this is a straightforward chart, but it could use more drive and fill.
This just goes to show how complete of a player Wayne Bergeron is. Chad is a GREAT player, but Wayne makes this solo sound so music and almost easy. Kudos to Chad for pulling off such a bear of a chart, but there's just not substitute for Wayne Bergeron!
The lead player in the group (NOT Chad Shoopman) isn't very strong. That piece really needs two strong leads to play. One for the solo and one for the lead part in the group. That was really lacking here. Chad sounded great though.
It may have been Wayne's solo originally, but who did Wayne call to fill in for him when he couldn't do a tour with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band? Chad Shoopman.

He is a good trumpet playing and his range is effortless and amazing, but his solo chops are well I expected more from a guy like him.

a good band just needs a count off and someone to just stand there as a placeholder and snap if they get off tempo...
