Thank you so much for this Aeri! I love Hoddeok so much, but it's so hard to make the dough (I'm a college student living far from home) so I don't have time to make it the traditional way. I tried this and it is so delicious! I made some for my roommates and they were so surprised with the delicious taste ^^ Thank you for sharing this recipe!
@raininghard Dumplings are great for their versatility. You can practically fill them with anything, steam, fry, or bake them and they will turn out yummy. I make all kinds at my house because it is food my toddler will eat. I've tried this with bean paste, pot pie, chicken marinaded in Chipotle sauce, taco, potato and cheese, even mashed up sweet potato and vegetables. You do not always have to stick to traditional recipes. They go over great if you are entertaining guests or at a party.
Ah, what a great quick alternative to making hoddeok! Of course, Hoddeok taste best when homemade with real dough, but this is perfect for weeknights! :O)
I like to use.. soy sauce dipping sauce.. I mix some soy sauce.. a little bit of vinegar and a little bit of water.. my husband likes a little bit of red pepper powder for his sauce.. thanks
I love these, and this is easier than traditional dough. The dough is really good though...do you have a recipe for dough? I just use a regular yeast dough, in fact I use a bread machine dough recipe! It seems to be ok, but I think it is not exactly right.
almost scarey how perfect this recipe is. I just got done making tons of gyoza and had some dumpling wrappers left, now I know what I can make for desserts!
Are the Hottoek sweet?

Do you think it's possible to substitute red bean paste for the inside filling?
