I am looking for a mechanical engineer and a doctor to join our "Colony" for only $5,000 you get to be part of the colony and 1/2 acre with water to live on. best fake reality show yet. the first season was cool, they do actually have to scavenge and Build their way out which is still cool. there are lots of towns and parts of citties around the US and Canada that have been abandoned basically ghost towns.

I think it's staged the company producing the series wouldn't risk anyone geting killed or badly hurt. if it is real they could get in a lot of trouble and most likely sued by the person or there family.but I don't know if it's real or not.

@israelgaribaldi Of course it's fake and scripted, the apocalypse isn't "really happening", and the people in the show obviously know that when camera crews are following them around. But that doesn't mean they are actors. Are they really building windmills, woodgas generators and stuff? YES. Even I've built a woodgas generator and I'm just a stupid 23 year-old. It's a controlled social experiment / reality TV show.

I dont believed The Colony is staged and part of that reason is because I choose not to. Yes, they get of-the-camera help from real doctors and such and of course the outsiders are hired personnel but I cant automatically assume that the fight scenes and objectives are scripted. They hit for real (no joke). And they do not believe they're in a real post apocalyptic world. They know they're on TV. Do some research

I think it's staged the company producing the series wouldn't risk anyone geting killed or badly hurt. if it is real they could get in a lot of trouble and most likely sued by the person or there family.but I don't know if it's real or not.

You're right and I'm 100% with you...but in a scenario like that WE would quickly die...so there would be NO show for Discovery.
That's one of the many minus of this so called "experiment".
Bottom line of the Colony is: you better have some sort of Ph.D. or you'll be ratmeat.

@HAARPproductions Well, not everyone will die, and chances are you'll get these kind of people, sure maybe having a spanish teacher won't help much, so they didn't put it in there, but its nice to see crafty people in there, otherwise there wouldn't be a show, what would be cool is if you could convert the actors to people in the show by convincing them to join you.
