JR gets shot, Dan Rather, Magnum PI, Murder She Wrote, Magic vs. Larry, MASH ends, Newhart, Cagney & Lacey, John Madden, 49ers dynasty, Murphy Brown, March Madness, Simon & Simon, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing and much more!
That's a nifty CBS promo from 1979; talkin' 'bout stuff in da (then) upcomin' decade of da 1980s. Da downside of it is I was born on Sept. 6, 1988; 9 years after CBS' Looking to the 80s promo air'd.
My God I actually remember this! The normal everyday people around the US giving the "OK hand gesture threw, it threw me back 3 decades. Fri nights back then = must see TV ("The Incredible Hulk," "Dukes of Hazard")
...that was it, I probably ran off to play some Atart 2600...lol- ) My mom and dad watched "Dallas" at 10pm.
it was definitely worse back in the 70s. in addition to its high price, gas was also in short supply to the point where you could only buy gas on certain days of the week. not to mention unemployment was high, and the economy remained in a recession from the mid 70s up until about the end of reagan's first term.
i graduated in 2001 and i would say that 08 and 09 look alot like 78 and 79 my parents my dad graduated in 72 my mom in 76, said to me a few weeks ago that the late 70s were worse and i would agree with the inflation and all and the morale with the country was low because of the iran hostage crisis in late 79
fuck the 80s...they weren't all that...trust me

@ultraback29 ah dynasty was abc!

@entertainme3000 You're misreading. I'm talking about the 1980s San Francisco 49er NFL championship dynasty, which was mainly covered by CBS.

I wish I could remember the start of the
80's. I was only six at the time and I don't really have a clear memory of it.

I remember an ad-lib that the MST3k guys did about the 80s
"oh the 80s. Did a lot of coke and voted for Ronald Regan".

We can tell...'Regan' is spelled Reagan.

Could this be updated to Looking to the 10's? America's a rather shaken country right now. Actually, it's quite a shaken WORLD at this point.

The 2020's will be the decade to end all decades, assuming the world doesn't end on 21 December 2012.

This was directly tied in to the network's Fall 1979 slogan, "We're Looking Good"...
