It was a trully amazing experience to be there... to be there from the beginning at the seed of an idea and see it watered into this magnificent tree by Mary Crooks and All at the Victorian Trust...Love and Justice for all.......
As I listen to this beautiful anthem,I feel a wide range of emotions from sadness, for all the past and current injustices to women worldwide, to the joy of being a woman, sharing the nurture, joy, strength. love and power that all women have and share with all people.
Fabulous! I can't wait to sing this in a couple of weeks...yes, here in America. I know we won't have a chorus of this size, but our hearts and voices will be as big and strong. Thank you for such a powerful and meaningful performance of a great musical piece.
Sunday 28 March 2010, 3 - 5pm, a wonderful celebration of International Women's Day includes this beautiful song. Rosalind Park, Bendigo. Come for the weekend... you'll love it!
And today, March 31, it is 100 years since women actually voted in an election, and Kavisha is going to be singing the anthem to Parliament. AND - we have been 'granted permission' to assemble on the 'bottom six steps' of Parliament House to celebrate.
Better go get my choir t-shirt on and get to Melbourne to sing it again!
------- am very proud of my baby sister ( aged 73 years) singing in this passionate choir --- head held high & proud to be singing for 'Love & Justice' -------- just like a 'thorn bird' !!!!!!!!
------ always intended to reply to your comment I wrote about my 'baby sister' ------- thank you for the comment ---- am glad I have that baby sister ---- aged 73 years -------- sisters become even more precious during these latter years of our lives ------- hope you have a 'baby sister' & are as close to her as we are ----------- thanks again ----- very best regards ---- Margaret.
Heard Tracy on ABC774 this morning, She played this song. I had to stop and just listen it blew me away. The harmony is stupendous! Lyrics great. Well done to everyone. I use to march in the womens lib marches in the 70's, wish we had this to sing then as well. Keep it up ladies.
From Canada.I was impressed with all the energy.Especially since my niece Marrielle from Langwarren sang in the choir.Congtats to each and every one for an awesome Anthem
As an honourary Aussie, I have to say that this was one of the best "mass choir" experiences I have had! It must be because it was brilliantly organised and flawlessly executed completely by women! Brava to Kavisha and Mary and the Victorian Women's Trust! All right, when is our next gig? Simply Bliss!
As one of those 400+ women this was one of the my most memorable life experiences, the 4 weeks of rehearsal with women from all over the state, and the performances on the day. Kavisha, you're a genius, and for Mary Crooks and the team at the VWT you are champions! I was crying already, but to have the audience stand spontaneously at the end of the first rendition, turned me into blubber...Frou
It was an honour and a privilege to be part of this. Thanks to Kavisha Mazzella and Mary Crooks and to all those who gave freely of their time and talents - and thanks to Harry for posting this video!
Thank you Kavisha for a wonderful anthem, and to all the amazing women who did this after only 5 rehearsals! People cried when we sang (and then an encore and then a 'second sitting' with another encore) and I cried hearing us here. We done GREAT!
Thanks heaps to Mary Crooks and the VWT for allowing this to occur.
There will be a CD in Jan for everyone to learn this - Kavisha has gifted it to the world, you are a darling woman!
Victorian Women's Trust - how lucky are we that you enabled us to participate in this marvelous event. Surely no one can listen and remain unmoved. Thank you. Thank you. Thrive!
