It is a crying shame that an American citizen, running for public office because he wants to serve his country, is given the third degree because of his religious convictions. Are we forgetting the main reason the Pilgrims came to these shores? Last time I checked the Bill of Rights, freedom of religion was still part of U.S. Constitution. I'm "a Mormon"...(in quotes because that's not really the name of the church or it's followers). However, if I vote for Romney, it won't be because of his religious affiliation. I will vote for the candidate who proves that he or she will be the most capable of preserving the freedoms that are mentioned in the above speech. Religious freedom is something of which all religions (including agnostics) can take advantage.
Ok, so America shouldn't focus on the religion, the problem is that the citisens do any way. When JFK was elected the country was not in the center of military operations, so Kennedy was able to defend his religious position long enough for the country to get used to him. Romney doesn't have this commodity. Even if Romney knows the best way to lead America, I don't want a president who has to defend his religion, even if it isn't his fault, instead of dealing with American problems.

The LDS church encourages all to participate in the political process of their country, BUT reminds everyone of the separation of church and state and makes NO political recommendations whatsoever. Everyone is encouraged to use their best judgment.
Mormons donate more to charity per captia than ANY other religion. They live longer than population average. They acheive higher level of education than national average. They don't drink, smoke, or swear. They are also usually the first to arrive at the scene of a natural disaster to aid those in need. Many serve for two years volunteering in orphanages, hospitals, schools. Or working with other Christian humanitarian aid organizations.

It is a crying shame that an American citizen, running for public office because he wants to serve his country, is given the third degree because of his religious convictions. Are we forgetting the main reason the Pilgrims came to these shores? Last time I checked the Bill of Rights, freedom of religion was still part of U.S. Constitution. I'm "a Mormon"...(in quotes because that's not really the name of the church or it's followers). However, if I vote for Romney, it won't be because of his religious affiliation. I will vote for the candidate who proves that he or she will be the most capable of preserving the freedoms that are mentioned in the above speech. Religious freedom is something of which all religions (including agnostics) can take advantage.

Ok, so America shouldn't focus on the religion, the problem is that the citisens do any way. When JFK was elected the country was not in the center of military operations, so Kennedy was able to defend his religious position long enough for the country to get used to him. Romney doesn't have this commodity. Even if Romney knows the best way to lead America, I don't want a president who has to defend his religion, even if it isn't his fault, instead of dealing with American problems.

Mitt, Huckabee does not have what it takes to you what he REALLY thinks of Mormonism. It would cause a spiritual warfare in our own country. The God of the Bible is not the same as one of the Mormon gods. The Latter Day Saints use the name of Jesus Christ, but Mormon beliefs are VERY far from Huckabee's Christian beliefs. Romney fought hard against gay marriage in MA. When the 80% dem majority overturned him. He tried to get a public referendum that would allow the people to vote on the issue, but it got killed. Mormons donate more to charity per captia than ANY other religion. They live longer than population average. They acheive higher level of education than national average. They don't drink, smoke, or swear. They are also usually the first to arrive at the scene of a natural disaster to aid those in need. Many serve for two years volunteering in orphanages, hospitals, schools. Or working with other Christian humanitarian aid organizations.

how did joseph smith die... how many wives did he have... how many did he take that were currently married... what type of "fruit" was he known by???

Mormons are Christian by definition. Mormons believe that Christ is the savior of the world and the son of God. Anybody who says Mormons aren't Christians is either lying or ignorant.
