  • Festivo by Vaclav Nelhybel kicks ass

  • gregson had balls.

who else would make a song that starts with the most out of tune note in the french horn arsenal?

  • Dude, we played that this year and we got a 1 on it. I was soo happy.

In this video it sounds like a saxophone is playing instead of an oboe. Blah, whatevs it's all good. They sound good--although at the quietest point tehy're still loud, but they have some nice crescendos! :D

  • wat school you go to? because we played this too this year and got sweepstakes.

  • Well, our score was 1 2 1 [overall 1, obviously]. I go to Channelview High School. Whaddya mean sweepstakes?

  • straight 1's in concert and in sight reading

  • around 3:05 ish.

    That Barisax/tuba solo.

We Have like two bari (me) and one tuba in our band. SO I get to crank that out so fun.

  • 1:30-2:10 is supposed to have more of a dreamy feel. Quieter.

  • This song is ridiculous! We just got it today and it turns out that our director already registered it for concert festival. The Time Signature changes so much! It's like 123 12 12 123 12 12 123 123 123 123 12 12 gaaah!

  • omg us too!!!!

  • haha yeah, what grade are you in? cuz we are playing at contest next wk end and it wasnt too difficult to learn, especially compared to our other piece, Festive Overture by Shostakovich. that song is rough, very difficult.

  • I'm in 10th, but our band is mostly juniors and seniors. Yeah, it isn't really hard to learn, just sort of daunting at first with the odd time sigs. We're also playing Florentiner March and Mannin Veen. I play 2nd Cornet for Mannin Veen and it is SO BORING!!

  • Haha, yeah I've never actually played Mannin Veen but it sounds like it would be boring to play, but its really pretty. :) i guess Festivo does have some weird time changes but my director really has a knack for picking songs with the weirdest times, like Lincoln Shire and Sevens, I guess I've just gotten used to it. Our march is Washington Post which is like the easiest one known to man but whatever. I guess its still at least a grade 4, but i don't how.

  • the easiest one is them basses the whole song is 6/8 eight notes and the highs dont do nothin the whole song

  • not for tuba lol.....

  • that'd be a french horn dumb shit.

  • i was talkin about them basses dumbass. i know the horns hit a high g at the beginning because we played it this year

  • that's why no freakin likes any type of eight meter outside of 6/8

  • my school is playing this too. The time is SO hard to follow.

  • This song was def. aslo my first real challege! especialy the chime part, the notes were so ramdome to me!(they use bells here 4mnts into the song) this group doesn't look like they have enough percussionist,..but I LOVVVVE This song,...its by far my fave. that ive EVER played with a band!!! i never get tired of listening to it!!!!!!!

  • im playing this in my school band. 7th and 8th graders

  • i remember this song, i played glock, claves, xylo and bongos on this, my this song was one of my first real challenges.

    good job

  • better than my sch.

  • This is a song I would love to play!! It is awsome! I play Baritone and my band played the Festivo by Nelhybel. That was hard enough, I can't imagine how hard this song is!

  • I play bass clarinet in my schools wind orchestra. It's pretty hard for a yr8 but it's awesome. Very well played ^^

  • AWESOME! trumpet sticking out though:)

  • I agree

  • my school's wind ensemble is playing this

  • I haven't heard this song in ages! It's one of my favorite pieces that I've ever played. The bass clarinet parts were fun :D

  • ez szar very false

  • and haha i just noticed the clarinet on the right!! =D

  • i think this is excellent and i have recently come back from a music course with the National Childrens Wind Orchestra and played it today in concert! But we played it a little slower now i dont mean to be biased but i think its sounds better just a little slower! it sounds more atmospheric that way i suppose but you still perform it very well.

  • Very nice! You guys did a great job playing this!

  • Chyea dawg!

  • My band is playing this song this year, it's a beautiful piece. This band had a phenomenal performance, great balance!

  • i really love this song. i thought you guys played this very good. my band director said we might play this one

  • This is a jaw-dropping performance of a breathtaking composition.

  • omg, look at that dancin clarinet on the right...lol

  • mehamem!

(the following is solely for the sake of rotem's satisfaction)

wow! amazing! siskel and ebert give it "two thumbs up"!

  • good good good but the kranot are the only problem
