one downside is that the cable isn't braided. My brother had the Fatal1ty 1st series gamingheadset and after a year the cable was broken and we had to buy razer carcharis.

the mic sounds bad because its going through a stereo to mono adapter which is why its only heard in the left channel with reduced quality.

THe Mic quality of this headset beats the Logitech headset by a mile, It's just lower volume, and directly infront of your mouth, Both are easy fix's, But the HS980's audio sounds alot less Uncompressed, and higher quality, you just can;t hear it becasue it's quiet

Got these as well. They sound pretty good IMO. Can't compare to any other headset though. It's quite comfy and like someone said they do hurt your ears, but this only happens to me based on how I wear them. I'd recommend them if your after good sounding headphones. Never tried the mic on this so I can't comment on that aspect.

I have tritton ax 720s(not pro) and I don't like the actual headset. Would I still get virtual surround sound using this headset and connecting it to my tritton amplifier (pretty simple).

Moron didn't even turn up the sensitivity for the microphone. I have the headset it and it's simply amazing... I have 0 problems with it, and I'm much clearer than any other person I hear online...

i had this headset but i broke them. so i went and bought something more expensive (cuz you know, the more expensive, the better?) i bought the steelseries siberia v2. all i can say about them is that i HATE THEM!!! they don't fit my head, they make squeaky noises, the wires tangle to my seat and everywhere but worst of all is the sound quality! they sound like the sound is coming from a tube and the speakers lack bass and presence. they sound really hard and super mid ranged. i want these back

I have had these headphones for a year and a half. They are really good, I take the mic out when i want to listen to music as they are perfect for that. However after some bashes the mic doesnt work when plugged in, it crackles :S So ill have to buy a new set as replacements mics arn't avaliable :S Just letting new buyers know that the mic is quite fragile :)

@MrRandomname1011 Not to get too pedantic here, but I think these are the new model, mkIIs. The microphone on mine (I have the new ones) seems a lot more substantial than the original ones. As regards to the mic quality, I think the jack may have been to blame because the quality on mine is a lot better.

@adzo690 I actually bought the plantronics, and I have to say they're pretty decent. My old LX-3000 can't match these in pinpointing enemies, though the bass is low. For listening to music, no, just no lol.

@AsAssin4life don't buy plantronics gamecom 367 i have them. after 1 hour you have painful ears. the sound is not really great. My headset fall on the ground 1 time and now the right ear is deaf.
