@Sifjada, I am also confused, John Paul jones was Born in 1774 but when it's 1779 he's way older then he's supposed to be, he is only supposed to be five years old in this episode! :o
I'm confused, Chief Cornstalk was killed in 1777 and John Paul Jones captured the Serapis in 1779... I don't think it would have taken that long to travel, or am I wrong? haha
I don't know how I feel about this episode. I agree with most of what the Americans did in the war, but I have some issues with Jones. I think I'd like it better if Sarah went patriot in a different way. But this is still a great show! Thanks for the upload.
At 2:15 you can see two american flags and one barley off screen, but the one to the left has thirteenth stars and not in a circuital pattern but in a pattern close to today's 50 Stars and Strips flag we now fly.
Wow this show wasn't very well known yet it has 5 of my top 10 favorite voice actors let's see if we can get the other 5 before im finished watching these.
@mrorville1 "If the witch knew the true meaning of sacrifice, she might have interpreted the Deep Magic differently. That when a willing victim is killed in the traitor's stead, the stone table will crack, and even death itself will work backwards."
Still not ringing a bell? Then try this:
"This car. Ten people. I could have gotten ten more people. This pin...solid gold. I could have got two more people. At least one. One more person." *sobs* "I-I could have got one more, but I didn't!"
@AtarahDerek Did you know that the Lillies were not a national flag of France? Before the Tricolor, there was no national flag of France. But yes, Jones was a Scot, all right. Englands enemies must be my friends, everywhere.
@AtarahDerek HoND? What is that? And the Fleur-de-Lys was the symbol of the Capet Kings of France. In the history of France, the country has had 3 royal lines I know of. The Merovingian kings, the Carolingians, and the Capetians and their various lines.
@ARP7777777 Hunchback of Notre Dame, or more accurately, Notre Dame de Paris, by Victor Hugo. Captain Phoebus of a place I don't even try to spell or pronounce had a cousin named Fleur de Lys. He was betrothed to her, but he had no intention of marrying her (he wound up having to anyway). She didn't want him either, until he started making googly eyes at Esmeralda.
You sure know a lot about French history. Are you a native or just an enthusiast?
@AtarahDerek I am a student of the history of the Celtic peoples, among many others. I am a W. A. S. P. from California, and study the history of France, and of Gaul before there WAS a France, because I love history! I do not always like the way things went, but I can be proud of many aspects of French culture. I am a student of English history, and the Anglo-Saxons were conquered by the Norman French, who used their mampower to conquer the British Isles. I cannot STAND Normans!
@ARP7777777 The Celts, huh? I've studied a little bit on them myself, being of Scottish and Irish descent. I found out that the Celts might be descended in part from the Israelite tribe of Dan (in part, mind you, with some Canaanite influence also thrown in), who apparently took the same route through northern Africa and Spain that the Moors would later take. One of the ancestors of the Gaels was Eibhear Dunn, whose name may literally mean, "the Hebrew Dan."
@AtarahDerek And Braveheart is a little. . . Over the top. Check out the history of Scotland. But nationalism patriotism was on the rise everywhere in Western Europe, and in Central and Eastern Europe, before the end of the 1800s.
@ARP7777777 When he talks about cities burning he is NOT kidding. Charletown, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, was burned to the ground because of the battle of Bunker/Breeds Hill. And Falmouth, Maine, back when Maine was part of Massachusetts, was also burned.
@ARP7777777 And yeah, Braveheart is over the top (although they did downplay William Wallace's brutality). But that's just what makes that movie so awesome. :D
@AtarahDerek It is a great movie. Especially the end. “Patriots of Scotland, starving and outnumbered, charged the fields of Bannockburn. They fought that day like warrior poets, they fought like men. They fought like Scotsmen. And they won their freedom.”
@DimensionsofChange Three, I think. And then there was the "dependable" guide she hired. Let's just say she's lucky it was only her bag that was stolen.
@rurouni324 Let's not forget, he's also Jean Valjean. Liam Neeson FTW!!! (Personally, If Hollywood ever made a live film of George Washington, Liam would totally OWN that part!!)
@ImperialGlory1920 Yes some were pretty bad :p James' voice was hot though. Hahaha really? I thought she did actually ok, i guess. Well I think she must of practiced the British accent some what.
@TheCuppycakedelight5 actually i was a little miffed that she changes sides. when she did we lost the loyalist point of view and the story became one sided.
